  1. Good for you pal, we need to stay positive all the time and keep behind the lads. It made a material difference last year. So much to be upbeat about, plenty risks, but tonnes of upsides too. COYW.
  2. Sorry everyone. The stadium thing is just an idea / vision / dream. I would - personally - not be keen on a soulless 8000 seater. My view is Scotland needs a substantial mid-sized stadium which could be constructed to look impressive and feel good even with say 10,000 in it but the capacity to take 20,000 if the event allowed. Making the money work for that is hard but we should always, in life, start with the ambitious vision. The only reason to leave Fir Park is for something better and more ambitious not to give up on the hope we can double our average attendance - that should be our aim. Hope that makes sense but it aint a today issue. I was just using the point to show the Club's ambition is short and long term and that where we are from matters. I am proud of "The Steelmen" in our make-up and feel strongly that Lanarkshire people should stand proud about our past, present and future and never let anyone diminish us. Dont let all that detract from my main point which is we need this Society to work and when it does the fans will choose in any event on all decisions like this one. If you dont like what I say you will be able to vote me off the Board! Anyway, good times, stay positive and lets get a crowd along to Dunfermline on Saturday. Andrew
  3. I do think some posters here should take a positive pill. Jeffers was good enough for Arsene Wenger and a host of other top managers. He played at Rangers when plenty of McCall's current pals there were around and he will know the reasons for underperformance. He is clearly talent who has never quite met his potential. Last time I looked that is a perfect place for Motherwell to intervene. Tommy Coyne, Bobby Russell, Davie Cooper, Owen Coyle to name but a few. The Club will not be bursting any bank to get him and as far as we can make out haven't yet got him. Board chats like this hardly make us an attractive looking place to come. Get him in, get him fit and get him banging in the goals at a level of the game that might just be a good launchpad for a last hurrah. Clearly he will need to stay out of the party scene which should be pretty easy to avoid down our way..... If it works great. If not then still worth the risk. I guess any posters with a list of better freed alternatives should feel free to post them. I like the way McCall is conducting himself and think we must get behind him every inch of the way.
  4. Big disappointment and any of us are fully within our rights as a fan to say whatever we want about it, especially on a fan board. We should remember though that all at our club are in it for the good of the club - we are on the same side. As for Leeann, we are lucky to have a Chief Exec who recognises the meaning of humility and takes the fans seriously enough to speak direct. Forget it Leeann and focus on whats next. All I would add - for what its worth - is that I really wish everyone would pull together and be positive about Motherwell. Tonnes of things have been thrown at us in the last few years, we could control next to none of them. What we do control is the spirit of our club that knows where we are from, punches well above our weight and takes pride in the style of our play at our best. We produce young talent and we provide a stage for old guys to have a last hurrah. You all know what I mean. I will never forget faddy driving us over the line for that win at Killie after administration. And I will never forget coop's guile taking us to safety against Falkirk when we needed a leader at a tough time. I will never forget Lukas strike to hit 6 against Hibs. And of course, I will never forget the gut wrench as Phil dropped on the pitch against United or the sense of utter pride in my club that followed as people from across the planet recognised what it meant. I could go on like all you could. Tomorrow we play a club with an attendance average that more than doubles ours. Lets make it our mission to talk our club up not down and get our mates along to join us at the game. All that matters is beating Hibs tomorrow (a club with a gate average more than twice ours). Come on Ye 'Well - I believe in you.
  5. Aberdeen statement The case for the defence from Aberdeen on tapping has been made today. Milne now claims they were approached by an agent on behalf of Brown and Knox!! This is interesting for two reasons: 1. If true, it means that Brown and Knox have been telling serious fibs. Can someone in the media please ask the pair if this is true. 2. It makes absolutely no difference whatsoever to the argument that they were guilty of tapping. Just as 'Craig told me not to ask Motherwell' is not a defence. Neither is 'but they wanted to come to us'. It is also pretty comprehensively contradicted by every statement that Brown has made since Wednesday. At no point did he imply that he was the one doing the courting. Why would he have turned down an offer that he was asking for. Is it just me or is it crying out for someone in the media to try and join the screamingly obvious dots and expose this stuff? So someone at Aberdeen is guilty of lying. Either it is Milne or it is his new management team. Scottish media - answers please. SPL please take note. A bizarre story just took a turn for the even weirder. Is Milne thinking any of this through?
  6. There was a contract of employment - otherwise what job did they resign from? Brown has made clear he was an employee. Craig has also said in the media they didn't want to sign anything so there was a contract, they didn't sign it but that changes nothing at all. This matters a bit because it will determine the amount of money Aberdeen have to pay and I would be amazed if Aberdeen don't have to pay something. The bigger issue, as I have said on another thread is tapping. It was emphatically that and if it isn't dealt with it is game over the league. Every small and medium sized club needs to worry about this. Gannon incidentally joined Peterborough quickly if you remember so there would be no issue with compensating a notice period as he was already in employment. Craig said to the BBC that Milne knew he had to phone Motherwell. 'Craig told me not to' is not a defence. The evidence is all out in the open and easy to follow. We cannot rely on pundits like DJ to think any of it through. We need to focus on the thoughtful media who have a brain and critical faculties. I would encourage all of us to activate and get emails and letters into the sports pages on this tapping issue. Tell your pals and put the point on all the other club's websites. If it had happened to Celtic or Rangers we can be sure the media would be all over it!
  7. Magic piece from TC. We are lucky to have guys like Tam on our side with the club's interest at heart. Did you hear Traynor on BBC this evening? For an Airdrie fan he seems to be as thoughtful and well balanced as anyone. Sounds like the Club have Aberdeen bang to rights and people need to take this tapping up argument seriously. If the SPL let Aberdeen off then it means anyone can do it. This is the most obvious and public example of tapping ever!
  8. That this post is contradicted by fact and all statements from Craig and indeed the Club subsequently should not detain us. Ambition? Certainly for himself and who can gainsay that. No ambition at Motherwell other than him? Have a laugh. We can only assume this is from a pal or family member so it would lack courtesy to do more than simply wish you well in what's next. I think it is clear from all statements from the ex manager and from Aberdeen that they know that they are in the wrong. The statement from the Dons tonight is quite laughable really. On BBC today Craig made clear that Milne knew he should contact Motherwell and did not. The focus now turns to the SPL and the enforcement of the rules. If they fail to act it means it is open season. I note with interest that even UEFA had the guts to kipper Chelsea on tapping because they knew if they didnt it would be chaos. Neil Doncaster is a serious professional leader for the SPL but all fans will await with interest the ability of the SPL to act. The integrity of the league is at stake. As for Aberdeen fans? Well that's about a million pounds your Board have spent on managerial appointments and sackings in the last few years. You are a big club with huge potential from a rich area. You deserve much much better than these people leading you. As a Scot I was cheering as Hewitt banged them in in 1983. You did Scotland proud then. Your current Board have demeaned your club and themselves in this matter and in their failure in the last few years.
