  1. It gets worse... Careful this little bit of news doesn't split your sides, but I can exclusively reveal Accies offered just £40,000 for Murphy!!! However, I'm reliably informed they were told in no uncertain terms to add at least one zero to that figure.
  2. Fair point, mate. After all the chief executive of Iraq Goals is never out of Jack Daniels. Far too risky...
  3. Nonsense - popped in to the Lud for a wee bite last year and it was very memorable. Had the broken leg of lamb and started with the alphabet soup - when I looked in the bowl it read: "What the f-ck are you looking at, specky?!"
  4. Will the King Lud in Craigneuk have it? Perhaps should repair there for the afternoon - watch the game and then enjoy a light bar supper...
  5. Anyone know if any technically-gifted publicans in or around Motherwell will have the wherewithall to put the game on a big screen via their computer? Jack Daniels? The Joker? (Does Sam know what a computer is? ) Anyone?
  6. Perm any one from 2000. Think you'll find quite a few male wedding rings were removed in Wales. Same with any trip away...! Not mine, though. My wife won't tell me the combination...
  7. Don't worry, a good pal of mine has a column in the Record - he'll be setting the record straight tomorrow.
  8. Oh aye... quite happy when the same paper gives you a wee name-check though, eh?
  9. Thanks to everyone for your help - that's plenty. Now, here's another challenge for all the same anoraks... does anyone know what happened to a guy we signed called Bob Malcolm...?
  10. Morning All, Anyone got any information on former Motherwell striker Rab Stewart? Need a wee bit of background and can only remember the briefest of details from his time at Fir Park. And I'm afraid he's been blanked by Wikipedia. (Surely this is your territory, Pie/Foghorn?) Thanks in advance, Syd
  11. Tell you what, he's some pool player!!
  12. SEVEN SHARP! They get a fortnight for the World Professional Snooker Championship... and we've got more people taking part on Wednesday night. Punctuality please.
  13. Hello Guys 'n' Gals, Just took a call from Dougie Arnott (I'm now thinking of putting my next itemised phone bill on eBay) to confirm the names he has gathered for Wednesday's celebrity pool tournament in honour of Jamie Dolan... Wow!! Let's just say Colin from Jack Daniels should now get himself down to General George for a roll of red carpet... Can't wait. And remember, folks, it's all for a great cause. See you there. Syd
  14. Thanks for standing up for me, mate, I was aff ma work for three months... Syd...
  15. Guys and Gals, On the eve of the first anniversary of A Night For Uncle Phil at the Civic Centre (has the big chap who admitted taking kids back to his house for a bevvy been released from police custody yet?) I appeal to your good nature and generous spirit to mark the occasion by snapping up the last of the DVDs from the club shop. As you may or may not be aware, the only outlay from last year's very successful event was the cost of hiring a proper film and sound crew so we could make the DVD as professional a product as possible. We speculated to accumulate and, with the time fast approaching when all monies will be put towards a permanent memorial for Uncle Phil, it would be great if we could boost the funds by shifting the remaining DVDs. If you haven't got a copy, please buy one. If you've already bought one, what's wrong with having a spare? April the 10th, 2008 was a special evening for 1000 Motherwell fans and it's one I'll never forget. All it costs to re-live the night is a tenner. Cheers, Syd.
  16. Right, bit of a slow response to this which suggests folk don't really know, so I will inform Griffin and Arnott and take it from there. Wonder if we could manage something for Jamie before the end of the season? Just a thought... Syd
  17. Guys and Gals, Was guest of honour at the Hearts Shareholders Association last night and, as a wee thank-you at the end of the night, they very kindly gave me £500 to put towards any fund or trust in memory of Jamie Dolan. Does anyone know if such a thing exists? If not, what do you advise? Should I just give it to a friend of the family like Jim Griffin or Dougie Arnott and let them take care of it? All input appreciated. Cheers, Syd
  18. If only there was a 'Well fan who wrote for the press; then you might be listened to. Some 'devine' intervention is called for. Get down to the newsagent tomorrow and, just for a change, look due south of the stuff on the top shelf...
  19. Just been sent this by a work colleague. Any old timers who collect memoribilia got some money to burn...? Clicky
  20. Quandary now - do you say "stuff Killie" and watch the game in the pub with £20 spending money... or bite the bullet and help cheer the team towards another wee Nancy trip??? Any thoughts?
  21. Memo to Foghorn: I will get the outstanding raffle prizes sorted if you're in the wee bar of the Fir Park Club before the game tomorrow. Cheers, Syd.
  22. Music at the discretion of the host, so... Matt Monro, Englelbert Humperdinck, Andy Williams, Tony Bennett, Neil Sedaka, Dame Vera Lynn, Tony Christie, Jim Reeves, Perry Como, Frankie Vaughan, Christian and, of course, Sydney Devine. I take it the mega Bar has a facility for playing 78s...?
