  1. You only need to rewind back a few years to the Falkirk promotion saga to know the answer to that.
  2. No bother mate. Good luck with your new season.
  3. We need to give these lads time. Both will require more training and more matches. Humphrey looks more of a flair player whilst Jennings is an athletic workhorse who'll run all day.
  4. Nothing against Hughesy and good luck to him. But he rarely played well last season and not in big games. Can he hack it in League 1? I doubt it but we'll see. Failed to establish himself at Leicester.
  5. Aye, that league is a very high standard indeed. Not far off the standard of England's top league before the Premiership. Is Hughesy capable of playing at that level?
  6. Pretty much agree Wee Yin, although I reckon Northampton know perfectly well they won't keep him. They're after compensation pure and simple.
  7. I too share your optimism. Of the above, Falkirk have lost a barrowload of players, moreso than any other side apart from us. Its also a tossup how Eddie May will fare. Hamilton too are losing the ehart of their team. St Mirren will do ok - a physical well organised side they won't win anything but they'll survive.
  8. I seem to recall we had a youngster called Craig Gupwell on our books a year or two back but he was released. Maybe some relation?
  9. Reckon we still need a goalie, right back, centre back, attacking central midfieldfer and a couple of strikers.
  10. Our team (taken from Bathgate Thistle site), Thomson, McPhee, McKinnon, Fallon, Gupwell, Gallacher, D. Smith, Meechan, G. Smith, McAuley, Archdeacon. Subs: Innes, Pollock, Martin, Halsman, Quinn, Pollock. It sounds like a team of Under 17s/Under 19s with Dazza and Mark Archdeacon.
  11. In answer to your question NO. There are 2 issues here though, as we've seen with Steve Jennings. They may be eligible but are they fit? Thats an entirely different question.
  12. We are quite capable of winning through next week but you're right of course in that if your team decides to pack the penalty box we'll do well to score a single goal. Its also likeley that your side may score as our record at set pieces and cross balls is nothing short of woeful. In many ways we were more likely to win in Albania than in Airdire. Still all credit to Flamurtari you deserved to win tonight. Too close to call in my view.
  13. In all this hooha nobody has focused on how the new deal compares with the current deal.
  14. Not at all surprised by the lack of live radio or TV coverage by the BBC or STV - we're not the OF after all. However I was a bit miffed that we barely got a mention on sports bulletins. Surely thats not too much to ask. When did the Scottish media ever support Scots football though?
  15. Welcome aboard Shrewfan. If you ever travel up to Fir Park to see us, let us know and we'll make you very welcome.
  16. To put some perspective on Albanina soccer, the country's population is about two thirds of our own in Scotland. On paper then the sixth best team shouldn't be that good. That said our games aginst Flamaturi could be very tricky indeed.
  17. Hopefully our new signings will be a mixture of permanent deals and loans. JG has said that loan deals would allow him to assess the quality of up and coming youngtsers on our books. Can't argue with that. The problem is that many English league yougsters have never heard of Motherwell or even Scotland and so its not always easy to entice them north of Carlisle.
  18. Playing Devil's Advocate here but if the BBC, Scottish media and even Scots fans do the same who can blame them?
  19. Wasn't there so can't comment but once agin this incident would seem to show the ill feeling & friction that results from folk standing up in an all seated area. The number of times this has happened in recent years - you'd think folk would have learnt by this time the trouble that it causes.
  20. Stick to Welsh - it'll make more sense than Richard Gordon & colleagues.
  21. The problem was that LLanelli played with about 2 right backs. Beat the first one and there was another one backing him up. That went for virtually all their defensive positions. With the squad as it is, its hard to see us scoring down there. We don't have the craft or guile to unlock their defence and neither do we have the physical power to batter them into submission.
  22. No evidence of course, but it may have been true at one time. Not unknown for the OF & Hibs to try to poach Under 17s/19s.
  23. So, its about 10% better than the current deal? In the present economic climate is that a poor deal?
  24. Coach will be missed. Think on this though - who went to the bigger club? Coach or Davie Clarkson? Folk also forget there was Premiership interest in Coach last season. Best wishes to both.
  25. I'll certainly be renwing mine. I might support the club but that doesn't mean I support John Boyle.
