At 17 I very much doubt that he would feature much next year as he still needs to bulk out a bit but that said I think he will make it the following season, so a loan spell should be the next step in his development - away from the fir park FFS brigade - where he can learn his trade without added pressure.

Turnbull's substitution seemed sensible to me at the time, the guy wasn’t having his best game and was looking a bit jaded. He’s still a young guy and to avoid burnout needs his game time managed, so being 1 up, looking comfortable and with next weeks game at StJohnstone in mind I’d have done the same.

McHugh was caught out a couple of times but overall his tackles and distribution was good so in a poor team he was my MoTM.

Unfortunately not now after his time out due to injury this season but if he leaves for nothing we will have at least had a couple of good years out of him and he’s played a big part in our campaigns which could be argued is worth more than his development fee.

To me that’s the ideal scenario for both the club and player

Thought there was a scheme where 5% of players transfer fees was distributed between any team - including amateur - that had trained a player. Seem to remember an ex Aberdeen players previous team got a fair whack years later.

The guys have signed extensions to stay here and play first team football. If we punt them then I hope it is after discussing it with the player and he is in total agreement with the move. I’d hate to see them getting punted to a team that then sticks them in their U23 set up, reserves or even on the bench and watch them festering. In short, they have stuck by us and I hope we as a club stick by them and don’t punt them against their wishes.

Grimshaw stuck to his task well, made himself available going forward and even tried cutting inside and across the park when attacking with the ball. Not a perfect performance but definitely not a bad one and I’m happy to give him Motm for it.

Every game players steal yards at throw ins - throwing lighters or anything is out of order and undefendable end of.

The biggest thing was that they thought they would breeze right up through the divisions without any problems, not winning the first division was bad but it was ok it was only Motherwell in the playoffs so not a problem. the game at Ibrox was one of the best I’ve attended for sheer joy and a knockout atmosphere followed by the game at Fir Park which gave them the biggest kick in the balls - wonderful memories

No one be really stood out but I thought Dunne had not a bad game - most others just had a bad game.

Ferguson wasn’t really tested and had no chance with both goals but at 20 years old, I think he’s a bit young to get thrown into the first team for the next 6 games. As for the game we were second best. Defence did ok but ffs the amount of back passes was a joke. We were bossed about in the midfield and Main was shocking up front.

Hastie staying would be great but I’m more interested in us signing a striker who adds more than jump and fall about and can score - one shot all game tonight was pathetic.

So the toss up has been rigged in their favour already?

Has Cadden signed an extension? Thought he was out of contract in the summer? If he does stay then next season, when we play the Rancid, we all could be singing ”you signed the wrong one, you signed the wrong one, Steven Gerrard, you signed the wrong one” nothing against Hastie, who I believe has the potential to go far, but yesterday showed that Cadden is a more rounded player and has benefited from spending his time here and developing his skill under no media/rancid fans pressure.

the downside of that is they will have played a competitive game and could be sharper, where as we will not have played for a few weeks and could be rusty but let’s hope the cup game in January will serve as a warning to the players.

Denyc, while I see some merit in your idea of offering longer contracts to a couple of young players that you think will make the first team, doing so would create an “elite” within the youth squad which could be counter productive to squad unity as the others would feel undervalued and if one of them develops into something special you then run the risk of him leaving at the first opportunity. Although not perfect I believe that the present system works to an extent and changing it would create greater problems.
