  1. Thought Tait not challenging on two or three occasions  was more down to the conditions and the fear of mis timing the tackle and getting sent off as although Walsh was happy to let Hearts players slide about I'm not sure he would have been so lenient if one of ours had done the same - still don't get the Hearts player only getting booked along with Tait but no booking for the initial challenge.

  2. Although I understand the grumbles around this I still feel that Caddin had few options. There wasn't a lot of clubs offering him a deal apart from us and Oxford so he could stay here on a relative pittance or move on for better money and a chance of furthering his career  - a no brained in my view.

If having decided on the move Oxford then say ok this is how we're going to do this, then he would have had to agree to it or give up the move.

After tonight’s performance Scott would benefit from 6 month loan in the championship

Still rough diamond that  needs  a bit of polish

He didn't play any worse than Long who replaced him.

  4. Tuesdays game should be interesting selection wise. Will SR stick with Fridays team or try out a different selection?

Is Tuesday  the last chance he will have to give "fringe" players a chance or does he secure the win and top seeding then change things on Saturday?

Being the last game before the season starts, id think that - injury's aside - Saturdays game will see his favoured team.

  5. Big banana skin this game. Morton were only beaten 3-2 by St Johnstone last week, games on the TV and big John Sutton playing for them.

Still we should have enough about us to get through it but I don't think it will be pretty or easy.

Seen someone mention Tom Leighton is playing a trial game with us today, also Jason Cummings released by Nottingham Forrest, surely way out our budget? have to think he will end up at a Hibs/Aberdeen.

Tom Leighton is an interesting one, I'm sure he is a defender who left us a few years ago for Watford and has been capped by NI under 21's. So if we have money for 1 more guy, is another defender what we need?

Not against signing him if he can do us a turn.

........ Some obvious issues with man management, but I remember at Craigan's testimonial race night all of the younger players were on soft drinks as he had asked all of the players to be - the senior pros were all defiantly on the beer.

That looks bad on the senior pro's but the context of that event needs to be taken into account ie

Did we have a game the next day or two?

Had we just have a game and what was the score?

Was he punishing the players for a bad result, preparing them for a game or just being a b****** because he could?

The disappointing thing to me (outside of the surgery issues) is that another Scottish talent felt that Celtic was a better option than taking a shot at the EPL.

I think it was a good career move, better chance of game time against weaker opposition,  giving him more time to develop his talent  and still close to family while he matures before moving south.

The Society owns the controlling shareholding in the club.

    The Society is it's members.

    It's not complicated.

IIRC, at the moment, the members of the society vote members onto the society board, who in turn select members onto the Motherwell board but do not have enough members on the Motherwell board to dictate the overall direction the board takes without support from other board members.

I believe this is the correct way as short term knee jerk reactions could put the long term intrests of the club in jeopardy.

The society board members who vote against the wishes of the membership know that they would be doing so with a chance that they would lose their position the next season, so would do so reluctantly but anyone who votes to please other members to keep their position ahead of the betterment of the club is the wrong person for the job in my view.

  10. TBH I've not heard a celtic fan at work badmouth him(most asked at the start who is this guy and is he worth £3M?) and the one  guy I know who seen him outwith an OF game (against Livingston) says that he wishes him all the best as he is the type of player who fans of any club would pay to see play as his vision of the game is up there with the best - something I'd find hard to argue against.

  11. I'd imagine that if Celtic have came back and highlighted a possible problem the first thing Motherwell would have done is to ask to see a copy of the report so that they can then have it looked at by our medical team and send it to someone for an independent assessment.

This in its self would take a couple of days.

Personally if there is a problem id prefer him to stay here and get it fixed where he knows the staff and is surrounded by people he knows and are his friends instead of sitting in a rehab room alone but if Celtics facilities are superior to ours and it's more beneficial for him to be there then, I'd reluctantly try and do whats best for him without affecting our club.

100% correct - when out of contract the only control we have is agreeing a development fee with other club should one be due.  If two clubs can’t agree it goes to a tribunal

Could the two clubs not agree a lower development fee in return for a sell on fee?
