  1. I guess I'm one Motherwell fan who has decided to follow this path. In the last two or three years I have been attending fewer and fewer games. I've only made it up for two home games and one away this year. This is compared to maybe seven or eight games by this time last year. The reasons for this have been debated over and over again on this site for years. I intended to join the Well Society. I filled the forms in and then never sent them. I wasn't sure why I didn't send them and still feel a sense of guilt about not helping the club I love. I came to a decision though and instead, I have decided to invest more in my local club. Why? Because I can stand up at the game next to my mates and I can talk football in the clubhouse with the players and those who run the club. Hell, I can even sneak into the social club for a halftime pint and the local friendly plod turn a blind eye and after I've had a pint, the local, friendly steward lets me back in. I will always be grateful for a poster on here taking me to my first Motherwell game many years ago but I've decided I now get more enjoyment out of watching another team.
  2. Heading up for this one. Hoping for the three points in a 5 goal thriller . 3 - 2.
  3. Another benefit of watching a lot of third division football at Annan is that you occasionally get to watch a player come in on loan and make you go 'Oh aye. This kid can play'. Incidentally, Lawless was another. Had the pleasure of watching a young QoS player for a month. The lads name was David Hopkirk. He played left wing/mid for a few games and he was sensational. He's fast and has tricks and nearly always hit the target - scoring 5 in 3 and assisting in several other goals.. He could of course have played the best three games he's ever had when at Galabank and no doubt he found the standard of defending poorer, but he still handled the flying tackles, got the ball under control instantly and scared the shit out of every defender he came up against. I was led to believe he's only a contract till Christmas and that's why Queens recalled him so quickly. Wish him all the best anyway and would love to think that we are aware of him. Not sure but he may of been at killie at some time.
  4. Apologies if already mentioned elsewhere but wanted to let anyone interested know how Keiran McGachie is getting on at Annan Athletic. He's not had a great deal of game time so far this season (mostly sub appearances), but it was good to see him start the last couple of games and score a nice goal for Annan on Saturday - after receiving the ball into him, he twisted his markers nuts and slotted the ball past the keeper.Hopefully, that's him up and running. As most will know, he's the big lad that scored the goals for last years U-19's. It's quite strange watching him play as he adopts a role similar to Higdons, generally staying central. That's not to say that he can't pull defenders around, as he does make good runs out wide and moves well around the box. He also has a good touch and finds himself in the right place most of the time. Just needs to react a little quicker around the goal now and put his chances away. Surprisingly, one of the things it looks like he needs to work on is his heading. Like to see Annan's coaches work on making him more of a threat at set pieces. Some fans feel, and i tend to agree with them, that he holds back from fully committing to aerial challenges. Would also like to see him impose himself on the divisions central defenders more, as despite his build, he can get bullied at times. He seems a popular lad around the squad and is hopefully set to become the same with the fans.

a very small squad with a couple of saleable players,
  6. As a regular at Galaback and Fir Park I would say we would have struggled against Annan tonight. Some poor tactics tonight. Hateley should have been moved to right back after 10 mins to mention just one.
  7. McCall to give himself a shake. He's clueless.
  8. I'm always a little disappointed MFC don't take a chance on a player or two from one of the SFL teams. The smaller fees required to get these players, are on the whole, offset through reduced wages. We dont seem to utilise this market. Anyone know who scouts these leagues for us?
  9. Some good ideas being discussed.. Appologies if it has already been mentioned but pre-match drinking is an area that could/should make the club more money. A shed load of coin is given to boozers on match day and the club needs to get its hands on more of it. Can drink marquee's not get put up near the ground for start of the season and our fans can drink together, sing some songs and MFC reap the profits? I don't know that much about the licensing laws involving football fans and drinking, but it would be great to create a tented area where Motherwell FC can mix with the fans. Does MFC run and get all the profits from the DC bar? I'm not from Motherwell so don't really know the situation with the pubs around the ground. Do any of them give money to the club? I can spend £50 on drink whenever I'm up and would prefer this to go to the club.
  10. Seasons over and a couple of months before the transfer window shuts. Randy has a year left I think, so that's a couple of windows away. Plenty time to sell. They'll be hunting for good goalies right up until the wee hours on deadline day. As someone said there is a bigger shop window to come in the european ties. If he performs on that stage, and he should want to, then maybe one of your bigger clubs will realise just how good he is. Interestingly, i see or hear no mention of a new contract from any source Anyone any ideas? What does that mean: hes asked to leave; happy to be sold; club want to sell; all of the above? For me. Like a few have said. £1M cash up front for his signature and then discussions can begin on add ons. Anything less is just bad business. Also if Jamie Murphy is sold for £250 grand we might as well stick our amber cheeks in the air and invite any Tom, Dick or Harry to draw claret.

Just got back home/ Great performance from the players. I may have met these boys. They jumped the queue for a drink in the bar and when i explained to them that i was waiting patiently in line for a large celebratory malt, two or three of them started making `still game type references` towards me - young dafties full of of pop. If I'm honest, I got a little upset though and I'd like to appologise to the clown who drank the water out of a urinal.

Just another embarrassing incident under Boyle's tenure.

Despite not making it at Inverness, Rory McAllister at Brechin would be an excellent signing for a team like us. He looks a right dangerous player when I've watched him this season.
  14. Watched Halsman all season and he has played both in defence and midfield (on the left). If you were asking me his best position, I'd say left midfield due mainly to his goal threat. Defensively, Bob Harris at Queens would be worth a shout - contract expires in the summer.
