We have 1 striker are in are in a relegation battle. He surely has to be worth more to us than he is to Killie or St Mirren?
Again your not wrong but as I've guessed at earlier I think accounts are going to be grim reading for last season.
So I think the board will not budge and do this two years in a row to save our season. -

To be fair. As someone pointed out on twitter a few days ago St Mirren are getting bigger crowds than us just now. More gate money coming in. Its always going to be tough for a club like Motherwell given that we are fan owned and have a relatively small core support
Correct look at the correlation of the league table.
The bottom four are in exact order, the bottom four.

They are a charity. They can't give St Mirren money.
That's correct. You are right.
I think what we can take away is they spent 1.4 million less than us in salaries.
We lost a million, they broke even and just wait until we publish 2023 in line with them.
2 manager sackings and panic buys to stay in the league.
That for me is why they are stronger just now and we are tightening up the purse strings. The board cant lose 7 figures two years in a row of "our money" in some ways.
So get used to our new tighter squad whilst we work towards Break Even.- 2

25 to 50% of St Mirren are owned by Kibble Education and Care Centre with a turnover of £41 million pounds.
St Mirren also have loans due of 1.8 million.
They publish a very detailed set of accounts.
Last season they very much held their own on the P and L, and had 1.3 million in the bank.
Although 1 year behind, Motherwells accounts showed 1.4 million overspend on St Mirren on staff wages with the SAME TURNOVER leading to a 1million Loss - new accounts will be filed this month. -

But how are they able to do that? Aren't St Mirren fan owned? Just like us?

Because with stats like Vale has probably hoped it wasn’t for real . Let’s see what the experts on here think of Vale happy clappers every one
Rolling out that phrase again........snide as feck.

Google says.
What is Jack Vale doing now?
He is now producing (and starring in) several dramatic and comedic films in the family and faith-based genres.
Fir Park sounds ideal.

tbf mate
i'm quite happy with that we have some poor players on the wage bill atm.
Ideally I'd keep
Casey
Mcginn
Miller
Davor
Spittal
Bair
Gent permanent
And maybe Kelly if he starts performing to the levels we know he can consistently
wait and see on the new signings.
I don't think we are far off at all from my post after that one.
4 of them are contracted along with Paton and BlaneyBUT I missed someone so we are up to 8 including Halliday......Ross Tierney

All Brophy's goals for Killie were in the Premier. Every goal Shaw got for them was in the Championship, and he hadn't scored at all in over a year before coming here.
Good info and shows the differentiation.

Over 100 appearances and 29 goals at Killie , 7 goals at St Mirren and 4 so far at RC, he's worked out a damm site better than some of the alleged strikers we've recently had and still have. But you stick to whatever agenda suits you, don't let facts get in the way.
But isn't he really really comparable (certainly in my mind) and in goals per game as ollie shaw?

Id personally say no to that
I would agree and for a suggestion I'd take the keeper at Raith all day long.

Trying to bring it back to the original post because it has gone sideways.
It is likely that Kelly is one of, if not the top earner at the club.
Do we want to spend budget here matching or bettering what he is on for a further contract extension?
-
It be easy to say Malpas but to add a bit of debate I will say McLeish.
Some fantastic football in the season after Tommy Mclean left but bit by bit he managed to destroy that team.
Also wasted monies others did not have on Roddie, McSkimming. etc.
Ultimately he destroyed Tommys team.

It's common knowledge that Kelly is our highest paid player and that we offered him very decent wages to get him back
That's what I have always thought.

I'm so glad that you're not our head of recruitment. I accept that he has been less consistent than usual this season but he's been capped by Scotland since his last contract was signed and that achievement can't be rewarded with a pay-cut.
So you think he should be top earner and that he is a priority of where we should put our budget.
Right back at you I am glad you are not head of recruitment. Bet you suck at Monopoly.

😂 You know this how?
It has been quoted and published before.
Many have alluded to this. Are you saying it is wrong?

You need some consistency a brand new team will no doubt have it's number of bombscares.
Some of the players are fine to have about in a squad format eg Mugabi.

Frankly how many of them would you be desperate to resign. For me a couple at most. This is a double edged sword. Its a bonus so we can clear out tons of deadwood and start afresh. However our piss poor precarious league position means its difficult to get players signed up because we dont know what division we will be in so the finances are uncertain.
Spittal for one. McGinn for two.
Try sign Gent on a permanent but could be beyond us.
I'd offer Kelly a contract to ponder but on less terms than he is on.The six are Casey, Blaney, Davor, Miller, Paton and Bair.
-
So we have 6 contracted players for next season. Plus if we want, Halliday.
That's absolutely shocking.

Calling someone a troll is a "get out" for people who have lost an argument and can't come back with anything constructive.
They most probably don't actually know what the word itself means.
I for one succesfully trolled the Rangers obsessed moonhowlers on Pie & Bovril for about four years and was eventually banned for it. But I did a pretty good job of it while it lasted. I knew exactly what to say and when to say it, all it took most of the time was a "Good luck Rangers, YATP" and that was enough.
On here though I'm only interested in discussing Motherwell and our club and always try and be as constructive as possible.
Maybe you should be constructive with your prediction of results.

I personally think it's shite that you get tagged with the just happy to watch a few videos and get a calendar signed comments. You think? I've been to two calendar signings in decades of watching Motherwell.
I've been watching Motherwell for decades. Ive bought season tickets when i can afford it. If I can't go to a game I make sure someone gets a use of my ticket. I actually more or less breathe claret and amber and I'm not unaware of the mess we are in. I just dont think shouting for the managers head every week is going to solve this.
Don't listen to the idiots on this thread.
They don't understand the wording "support your team"

I'm talking about Kettlewell in the Premiership including his time at Ross County.
It didn't work out for Courts in Hungary but he's still got more achievements to his name as a manager than Kettlewell. He might just be average but Kettlewell is shite. Livingston can't sack Martindale so we won't finish bottom this season but we shouldn't accept what are suffering through right now. We are getting close to 1 league win in 5 full months of football.
3 minutes ago, purestate said:😆 well exactly. Although StJ have had more wins since CL came in they haven’t beaten us in 3 attempts so is our squad better than there’s or is CL no better than SK?
Based on today I'd certainly rather watch us than them.

Don't think he's a chancer to be fair. Theres nothing about Kettlewells demeanour in interviews that suggests he wants us to be at rock bottom.
I know. Derek Adams on the other hand........

The players weren't playing for Hammell but they were good players. Even under Hammell the margins were slim. Most weeks Kettlewell had 8 or 9 outfield players of a good standard which will get you to midtable in this league.
Kettlewell chose to prioritise Paton over Cornelius and commit funds to Obika before the window even opened. He's the one who will pay the price because it's either win or get sacked now and we don't have a win in us.
Cornelius was offered a contract and turned it down.
Do you fact check anything?

Half and Half I'd say this and salaries. Although one year out in comparison - later this month we can compare like for like.
Turnover : 5.5 MILLION (St Mirren had same)
WAGES: 5.2 MILLION (St Mirren 3.8)
Other OPERATING EXPENSES: 2.1 MILLION (this is where the pitch comes into play - and savings here would have cut the million loss)
