In all seriousness do you think that is a positive result for us? At home against Dundee having not won a game for three months, ten games and we scrape a draw with the last kick of the ball. Again. I’m sorry but for me that’s nothing to shout about. If that game finishes 2-2 then the manager and the team are rightly being slaughtered but by spawnying a 3-3 just like we did against Ross County just lets the team, the manager off the hook and gives the happy clappers in the stands and the boardroom something to munch away at for another week.

    "happy clapper" opposite "doom merchant"
As I said before Jan window defines the position we finish.

Snatched a draw but the manager has to go. In a world of stats the one he is failing on is wins, I genuinely hoped he would have turned it t around but I think it’s time for him to go. The next manager should play the youngsters as the senior players aren’t cutting it

    Play the youngsters.
I actually would love that, but prepare for the championship.
If we want to change into this philosphy, then the support need to change their expectancy.

Not being funny here, but when you say you think he can become a success at Motherwell, what are you basing that on?

His record as a top-flight manager isn't good. He failed at Ross County when he got the job on his own, and once he got a transfer window at Motherwell he hasn't really done a great job here either.

But we skip the whole of the end of last season after Hammell?

Things went wrong in the transfer window no doubt. We have the next one to get it right. Midfield needs option and CDM. A left back we trust as well.

shows the team has character, and a point is better than nowt. But again, another three goals scored, and yet again we dont win. The defence needs midfield protection. We need an organiser, amd mobile ball winner.

I'd play McgInna at CDM on his return

I believe Kettlewell paid £100,000 to sign Shaw from Hibs when County manager.

I have given him plenty backing but yesterdays selection and formation was just bonkers.   As far as I am concerned anything less than 3pts Home to Dundee and I think change is needed.   I like him and way he comes across but his signings have just been honking and now he is just trying bizarre formations.

V Dundee I would go Kelly with a back 3 of Casey Bevis and Blaney

Gent and Spencer wing backs with butcher holding midfielder with Spittal and Paton in front of him and Mika and Bair/Obika up top

The exact team I would play

Well you just had to look at his record when he took over on his own at County. Lasted 6 months. Tenure ended with a beating from the Accies and a 29% win percentage. Heading the same direction at FP. When you can't beat Ross County and St Johnstone and concede 5 goals in those two games, sirens should be sounding loud. To be honest it is hard to see where a win is coming from. Pumped by Celtic next.  I have said this before. The man who kept Motherwell up last season was Kevin Van Veen, not Kettlewell. Now he doesn't have those goals our squad is getting shown up for what it is, full of guys you wouldn't take in a raffle. Most of them are Championship level at best and some couldn't even cut it at that level. Anyone thinking anything else either has claret and amber blinkers on at best or has a stick and a guide dog at their side.

Not sure you see much Championship games but the standard has taken a big nose dive.

Part of our problem is for current players we need  to play a starting 12.

    3 centre halves
    2 wing backs
    4 midfielders
    2 strikers

following issue is we don't have 4 strong midfielders nor 2 strikers.

We could ask for special dispensation 😜

I know this is tongue in cheek - but it's accurate.  Which one do you suffer with the least by withdrawing one?

I got the feeling during summer transfer window we were outbid on or couldn't agree a deal with our main transfer targets and had to make do with some bodies that would actually sign for us....I reckon what we had planned and what we actually got was totally different at the end of the window....as such can't blame SK too much, reckon he needs until after next summer's transfer window to have a squad more or less as planned....defo a work in progress and not easy work at that.

I think this is most likely - good point

I back Kettlewell but he’s adventures in the transfer market for contracted players has been so so poor that’s what the worry is for me.Nobody is going to take the likes off Blair,Wilkinson and Obika off our hands in a hurry they are here potentially for another year and half that in itself is alarming.Bringing in a midfielder that clearly he doesn’t fancy to sit on the bench is a bad use of funds aswell I see no reason why we signed Zdravkovski that’s another pay off happening.

The loans(apart from Shaw)has been decent but when you can’t get the players contracted to the club right then doesn’t bode well for me.

Sure it’s a hit or miss but Kettlewell has had a whole lot of misses.

But the question remains, as it does in most football clubs nowadays, who is signing the players?

I don't doubt the manager has partial involvement but not wholly so......

We employ someone to identify players. That's their sole role.

Your at the wind up but if not you should never post while pished or under the influence of recreational substances, as the shite above is the result

I was. Just imagine though if that happened. Jinx.

Genuinely 1-2, playing not bad, not carrying the luck required is my real guess, hope I am wrong.

  12. Hearts are amazing, really really great side with a brilliant manager. Shankland will tear us apart beating 11 players and score within one minute.

We however are a team full of donkeys that would struggle to beat East Stirling.

Our Keeper is the size of Hasbulla & if Kettlewell had any integrity he would leave the club in the next 5 minutes.

    9-1 Hearts (Biereth)

Six losses out of seven…doom and gloom, realism/to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to.

Or perhaps you’d rather hear the story of Goldilocks and the three Bears? Albeit in the Happy Clappers version Goldilocks is wearing a Claret & Amber ribbon when the bears find her asleep in their bed having eaten their porridge and broken their chairs, so for that reason they forgive her, fire up Twist and Shout on Alexa and they all jump about the house shouting “there’s only one James McFadden”…

Happy Clappers. Such a patronising phrase. Let's fire out Negative Nancies at you boys for your style. If you add up the points you predict we will get in any season be lucky if it's double figures. Complete joke.

Forums suit negative people like yourself and Steelboy. Trying to talk the loudest and criticising everyone who doesn't share your viewpoint.

Tell me this why have the Hibs, Livingston, Ross County managers not been sacked yet?

And do Kilmarnock really have a bigger budget than we do? Or a budget that is significantly bigger enough to attract a McInnes type manager?

Or are we just unable or unwilling to push the boat out a bit more and are instead happy enough with our status as a two-bit tinpot no mark of a club who have zero ambition whatsoever?

Who finished higher in the league last season? Who was in the play off?

Bunch of panic merchants in here.

Funnily enough football has changed in the past 35 years. The economics of TV money are completely different, contracts are different with Bosman. There's no comparison to be made between now and then. Tommy McLean signed Brian Martin and Paul Lambert from St Mirren. Adjusted for inflation the fees are a combined £900,000 in 2023 money. Clearly we can't back managers to succeed via transfer fees anymore.

The club gave Kettlewell an opportunity and he fucked it in the summer with his signings. We don't owe him anything else beyond the next two games.

Aberdeen have done ok in Europe, are in a Cup final and will almost certainly finish above St Mirren. Robinson has never carried good league form through the New Year for a reason.

The goals that you describe have been caused by players at the front being out of position, forcing everyone in the line to have to move in one to cover whats in front of goal. That leaves the man at the back post looking really stupid. But its not their fault. On one occasion it was Casey that was left high and dry at the back post and he quite rightly went tonto at his team mates.

Im hoping putting Butcher back in there sorts that problem out. He is clearly a talker and an organiser. We need that back in our defence.

I thought I'd put in a perfect example albeit from the past on goal one.

    Aye, wouldnt drop McGinn either.

Was really just responding to the question of whether we could play a 4 at the back.

Think we are much more likely to stick with the 5.

SOD has been much better in a 5, but he still looks a bit awkward on the ball at times and folk cant see past that and his previous performances.

I think in our system having Spencer on the right and Gent on the left would make us more dynamic going forward, but neither are our player and it would leave us an issue with SOD again, and he hasnt done that much wrong this season for me.

Butcher back in defence for Mugabi and 2 up top seem the most obvious changes sticking with Paton, Slattery and Spittal in midfield.

Because if you look at some of the goals we conceded - SOD has let the ball goes over his head and someone is unmarked at back post.

If he cuts out this flaw then he'll do.

Firstly, yes I am sure I am on the right forum.

Secondly, “they are as bigoted as  ra gers and pretty hostile and unfriendly bunch in my experiance” well if that’s your experience of them then that’s fine. It’s not mine though. I’ve always found Hearts fans (that I have encountered anyway) to be passionate supporters of their club and are fiercely proud of their own identity as a club and a support. Unlike alot of our support(and some others no doubt) they don’t allow what the Old Firm fans may or may not think of them to dictate what they say/sing/what type of kits they release. They are their own club and embrace that and I for one respect them for that.

I don’t ‘like’ Hearts and I love beating them but I envy their support and the way they back their club and team.

    I agree with you

I really hoped in the year they looked like putting up a challenge they could have extended their run.

Also to add some teams anthems can be stirring if you put a neutral hat on. I've attended a lot of non-Motherwell games and you can see from a different perspective plus it's way less nerve wracking!

Am I fan of the fact that we signed players with a patchy injury record or those just recovering from a significant injury? No. Do I realise these players may break down again? Aye. Do I feel the club should now gamble even more money on a guy who can be nowhere near match fitness? No thanks...

Something tells me though Fletcher isn't just sitting on his butt.

A complete guess I know, but I reckon he's a pro that's kept himself pretty fit, maybe not match fit, but a few weeks would change that.

A lot of what Fletcher can give is in his brain, an intelligent player who can give assists as well as goals.
