  1. Avoided the result all day today and just watched the highlights on setanta. Whit a ridiculous three minutes of my life! Outstanding!
  2. Is naebody excited about this game or something? I think it's going to be one of the hardest games of the season, that's including the OF. If we can get a draw then a very good result. 1-1.
  3. It's no a real photo. I'm sure it's a screenshot from sim city.
  4. I don't think it's fair to say a managers 'make up is wrong' if they fear relegation. It's an idealistic situation you are hoping for however I'm guessing Scottish football simply don't have the number of quality youngsters coming through, at least not enough to fill out SPL first teams. I do appreciate the sentiment of this thread however you are probably in the minority in thinking we have a few hundred Scottish youngsters in the game just now that should be getting into first teams.
  5. The thread title is a wee joke. Took me a minute to piece it all together too.
  6. Sounds like a quality game and a hard earned point for both teams. Can't wait to see the highlights. Canny grumble.

    Do You Remember

Motherwell 6 - Hibernian 2. 31st january 1998. Not a game of great significance apart from the scoreline. two nil down after 7 minutes, 3 - 2 at half time. 6 - 2 full time. Good stuff. The 2-1 game against Aberdeen last season was a blinder too. Dairylea punting us into Europe.
  8. I agree with that and I've recently come to realise we might not actually be aware of how much they do. I work with adults with learning difficulties and the company's most recently newsletter had a wee article about Bob Malcolm and Mark Reynolds visiting one of our residential care homes just before Christmas. I'd never have known this if I didn't work for them. I wonder how much more the players do that goes un-noticed?

    Motherwell

Aww, lovely. Now you have to spread the dirt. Who has been a right shower of bawbags?
  10. I think McGhee has addressed this situation quite a few times and it was evident all last season too. Under McGhee we continued and will continue to gift goals to the opposition however the masterplan is to always score one more than them. I'm paraphrasing but that's the jist of what he said and it might seem ridiculous however the 'lose hunners of goals but always score one more' did take us to 3rd last year. I'm happy with that tactic as long as we have strikers who are on form and midfielders who can supply which up till yesterday was a problem. Who knows whether or not we can continue where we left things on Saturday but here's hoping!

Aye, good stuff today. The team really worked hard and the scoreline isny a reflection on play at all. Could have been 4 or 5 - 0 to us. Clarkson was magnificant today and looked desperate to get on the ball and have go, exactly what we have been lacking the last wee while. Craigan seemed to have the defence much more organised today despite the dodgy first goal and soft penalty. One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was O'Briens contribution. He really ran his arse into the ground today, chased every ball and skint their right back dunno how many times. Even right before he was subbed he was still running half the length of the pitch to stick a toe in. Put a few decent crosses into the box and hopefully began to answer any critics who wonder why he was ever signed. Here's hoping he can keep it up. Good to see the crowd showed their appreciation with the standing ovation when he was subbed. That should do him a lot of confidence which is exactly what individuals in the team need.
  12. Spot on. I think it's a fair comment from McGhee. Ever since the apparent absolute and unforgivable treachery of considering another job I don't think the guy will ever be able to say anything right by some supporters now. I do think he is finding that section of support frustrating and has every right to speak out.

Prices are the same however season ticket holders could get another adult and child in free. Only thing is the free tickets were to be picked up by the 22nd of December.

    Porter

That's a bit harsh and surprising considering yer other 'stay positive' posts. He was integral to one of Motherwells best seasons for a decade so I think we can forgive him for 3 months off form. Best of luck wherever Chris goes!
  15. That's the thing, how do you tell the difference between someone trying hard but having a bad game and someone not pulling their weight? Some fans don't care about differentiating between the two because it gives them the chance to act like the big man.
  16. I'd be surprised if Saunder's doesn't start. McGhee has said this week that he needs players on the fringes who will make it hard for him to pick the team. While he was referring to O'Brein and Darren Smith in this instance I think the same will apply for Saunders. I don't understand how it can be considered a confidence knock coming into a team like ours just now. Surely getting dropped for an off form player after 2 solid performances would be a bigger boot in the baws?
  17. Yip, a big section of the crowd was on form on saturday. Unsure of whether they were well boys or not but it was entertaining. That said, I eventually moved seats to the other side of the stand because of the absolute shite that was coming out of one group of guys. Quite a few were spouting anti-Irish pish at McCarthy and Jim O' Brien while he was warming up. Add in some anti-English drivel and primary school patter such as 'fuck off ya wee poof' (clever) directed at Accies fans, it kinda sucked the enjoyment out the game. Sad thing is it seemed to entertain a few hundred folk. As for the original poster in this thread, well said. It's ludicrous to think a professional footballer would take any motivation from abuse dished out in the stands. They all have their own aspirations and expectations which will no doubt be the drive behind their game, behind that will be the expectations of the manager and their team mates.

    Accies On Saturday

If he preferred going to Hearts then why isn't he the Hearts manager? Even with his wage increase it was still less than Hearts offered (if rumours are to be believed) so it couldn't have been anything other than the players that kept him at the club. It certainly won't have been the fans that kept him here anyway.

    Mark McGhee

McGhee - “We are bottom of the league. We are the worst team and I am the worst manager,” I think he knows it.
  20. True that. We haven't been playing well but still creating enough chances to win games, that's why I had shared McGhee's optimism that we are 'bubbling under the surface'. Now I'm starting to doubt it but as we all know the potential is there. Maybe not to finish 3rd but to at least get ourselves up the table a bit. I can understand why people are frustated with McGhee however it's hard to tell if his tactics are working when the players; for some bizarre reason; are really struggling to put the basics together. Can McGhee really be blamed for the number of slack balls and missed half chances we've had in the last few games?
  21. Pish thread. The in's and out of whether McGhee should stay or go is being discussed in about 6 other threads just now and just about every post is more eloquently put than yours.

    Fixing It

We've scored once in the last 7 games. Last win was 2-0 against accies which took is up to third.

    Accies On Saturday

Unusual decisions from McGhee today however the systems he has tried clearly haven't been working either. There's time for a change and that time was today, unfortunately it went down the pan too. Regardless of what team formation/selection McGhee puts out is irrelevant if players aren't performing, they aren't winning balls they should be and are making a mess of absolute basic passes/crosses/shots/tackles/headers. There is only so much McGhee can do before the responsibility lies with the players to at least do the minimum requirements on the pitch. For whatever reason that's not happening and I'm not sure how much difference McGhee can make in a situation like that. I think the fact that I started sincerely clapping when we managed to string a 3rd pass together without losing possession sums it up. In comparison to the usual '2 passes and lose it' those odd 3rd passes were absolutely subliminal. Strange days eh.
  24. That's been an on-going problem this season and was blatantly obvious today. Any high balls punted up to the front two probably give the opposition about a 95% chance of regaining posession however we continue to play the high ball into them. To be fair Porter won a few today which is a change from the usual 0.
