I think some of our players deserve a bit more credit than they are getting.

Good luck with that on here.

Most of the moaners on here - which accounts for over 50% rarely if ever take into account anything other than worse case scenario pretty much all the time.

Look at Hibs and United. Budgets of 2 to 3 times ours. They have had as bad a season so far or worse.

We have a new Manager finding his feet. We have a bottom 6 budget. We have had key injuries over the past month. We have been in all games and our GD is better than most of the league.

But no we are pish. The Managers appointment was a mistake. He should be sacked blah blah blah.

The truth is somewhere in between but this site is depressing at the best of times. And b4 anyone says if you don’t like it etc. I now spend most of my time on P&B. Much more sensible and balanced posts imho.

Some amount of utter shite posted on here tonight. You would be forgiven for thinking we had been pumped 3-0 and were bottom of the league.

Admittedly I only saw the second half, but we were level at the break and from what I saw we looked to me the team in the ascendency and more likely to get the winner. I dont recall Kelly having hellish much to do.

Those wetting their knickers about Moult being a waste of a wage, crocked, done? What are you watching?

He was still chasing balls down well into the second half, and if there had been any of our players on the same wavelength as him when he beat 2 Saints players and drove into the box to cross, we might have won the game.

Give me that level of desire and effort over KVVs petulance any day.

Ive no idea whether Moult will get fit, stay fit, score goals going forward, but those writing him off at this stage should hang their heads in shame.

We are not in a great place at the break, but neither are we up shit creek without a paddle.

We now have 4 weeks to get our injured players fit, identify some fresh talent to bring in during the window and to rethink and reset for the second half of the season.

We have a couple of very winnable fixtures after the break. If we can hit the ground running we will be right back in the

Good post. Out of keeping with most of the negative views on here. But good to read some common sense and not just utter despair.

It has not been a good run. But it has been a tough set of fixtures and we have not had much rub of the green.

The players are injured / knackered / lacking confidence (because of results) or a combination of all 3. It was not that long ago we were playing very good football at home  and outplaying Hearts and United despite the end results

Hopefully we can get back to that after the World Cup with some easier (on paper at least) fixtures and start climbing up the table.

KVV with and sitter and now Slattery with the pathetic tracking and being soft as shit on the ball when he gets the lucky break and he ball falls to him.

I think I've seen this show before....

    Pretty much.

    Miss relatively easy chances -

    Lose the ball easily -

Let the opposition score a goal with their 1st shot on target -

We have all seen this show before

I can understand the reasoning behind most of the ref’s decisions but it was an incorrectly awarded corner that led to the first goal.

That is as maybe. But that will happen quite a lot.

Then you just have to ask your defence to defend and not let a midfielder get a header in between your two Centre backs. What is more galling is that it was a header that could have gone anywhere. But just so happens to loop into the top corner. Our defending is woeful but luck is and was not on our side with that one.

Lamie is a good centre half but sadly the only one we have. Mugabi out of favour and I'm sorry but Sol is what my late father would label a carthorse. What he's doing with his arms when he conceded the pen is beyond me. If we can get Moult match sharp and keep him fit then he has to start alongside van veen. VV is a man down up top on his own and the least said about Shields the better.

Just watched the highlights. Gordon should have been off the pitch and that was a huge fuck up which ultimately cost us.

All that said Sols best impression of an orang-utan was impressive. 89 minutes gone. Every player if the Premiership down south is literally trying to glue their arms to their sides when a ball is played near them in the box. Not Sol. Such a cheap goal to lose.

Don't think we were/are anywhere near as bad as people making us out to be. We weren't particularly good today, but it wasn't quite the bombscare I'm reading. We were far FAR better with Moult and KVV through the middle with McKinstry drifting about in behind them, I'd like to see us continue with that. I'd also like to see us not let an opposition player run 30/40/50 yards with the ball resulting in a goal for the other team.

Your last sentence sums up why we are losing games. It is not like it has happened once. This allowing opposition players to run unopposed is costing us dearly. I have not seen the highlights / goals.  Tempted not to watch them as I will only be more angry than I am now. And that would be difficult.

Angry at the soft goals we conceded. Angry at the piss poor officiating. How Gordon is not given another yellow after conceding a penalty. That is basic refereeing. We would have still no doubt ballsed it up but against 9 men we may have got a point. Also suggestions Goss was fouled and onside which could have resulted in a penalty.

Not getting the breaks but creating our own problems. Only Celtic up next ! I might have calmed down by then. Might…..

Hearts should have absolutely buried us in the first half.

We've lost a goal in first half injury time and against 10 men.

Gordon HAS to be sent off but isn't because he's the cuddly toy of Scottish football.

    Come back from 0-2.

Lose it to a penalty right at the end.

What's it like being a Motherwell supporter, eh?

As of right now it is utter shite.

See if we had lost 2-0 to an 11 man Hearts team you could understand as they have better players.

But to get back to 2-2 and then lost so late on is a real kick in the haw maws. Just serves to piss me off and most other Well fans more than we ordinarily would be…

Definitely "we don't want to lose this" fear for most of the game, but happy to get it over the line.

I have seen a clip and Goss leg definitely moves as if there was contact.

I don’t mind Michael Stewart but he was ragin and making it out as if there was 100% no contact. Sportscene will b interesting.

3 points are 3 points and it is 3 times as many as we got when we battered United and Hearts at home. So will take it.

Don't be surprised if we have a season loan that can't be cancelled Burton probably wanted that in so we picked up the wage due to his injury issues.Suspect it was same with Aaron's.

Don’t be surprised if there is a clause in the contract that allows us to terminate loan deal during winter break. That is just as plausible given his injury record.

Either way it would be a bummer as we all would like him to be even half the player he was last time around.

We are currently 4 points off 3rd place and 4 off the bottom,  we need to start winning and climbing the table to be safe mid table, a few wins before the world cup break would be nice.

After Sligo debacle we would all have jumped at being 4 points off 3rd place after 1st round of fixtures. Granted there are some teams who still have a game in hand.  Also having a 0 GD is almost impressive by our normal standards.

But we are in a bit of a slump. 4 points from 21 is not great at all. Injuries to key players not helping. Concerning to see Moult not even listed in match day squad.

We badly need a win next couple of league games to stop this from becoming a bigger and more worrying problem.

  11. 13 minutes ago, weeyin said:

But would have wanted a game cancelled for each of them? Or were you happier to see them receive applause during a match from fellow fans?

I already said I wanted the games to go ahead. Pay our respects etc.

Problem is judging by responses on P&B and MFC Twitter there would be many fans who would likely embarrass themselves, their clubs and the Nation. This will happen anyway no doubt sadly when we get the games back on.

  12. 5 minutes ago, GazzyB said:

I fully expected the games to be cancelled this weekend, but I still strongly disagree with it. We shouldn’t be forced to join in with mourning the death of someone we never knew if we don’t want to.

As for the next level anger of “no politics discussed on a football forum!!!”, football and politics should mainly be separate but sometimes they become entwined, and it’s completely okay to discuss it then. A thread about starting games earlier to evade the astronomical electricity bills coming our way, believe it or not, has political undertones to it.

Interesting point. However in the last two home games at Fir Park we have had 3x minutes applause for 3 people who had passed away including a very young girl. I never knew any of them but I was happy enough to show my respect and not just because they were Motherwell fans. Just the decent thing to do.

I have no issues with people not liking the monarchy or the Queen.  I have issues with them outwardly insulting and showing utter contempt and disrespect. Just not needed and not on a football forum.

The vitriol and sycophancy on display from both sides are equally nauseating.

This is a football forum. Move on.

Sadly, some cannot help themselves from making political point scoring. The death of the Queen was always going to result in extreme views either way.  But not on football forums is my take.

I would like for the football to go ahead with a minute's silence.  But I suspect the authorities will worry that certain elements / supports will let Scottish Football down and that will be one of their key concerns.

Without wishing to be that guy, I'm assuming all pubs, nightclubs, theatres and cinemas will be closed for the next two weeks then? All concerts postponed? If not then the question would have to be why are only fans of live sport being asked to show respect?

Fair point. I remember being very pissed off when Killie v Motherwell was postponed because Princess Di had died.

I guess because most pubs don’t have anywhere between 1000 and 60000 people celebrating or otherwise.  Just more visible.

Anyway we shall see. Funeral likely to be the same day we play Hearts so that will be postponed for sure.

Rights and wrongs of that are a different debate, think you’ve answered part for yourself. Let’s see what today brings…

Great. Look forward to our signing/s being unveiled :-)

The fact Flow has not surfaced to explain we missed out on targets gives me hope that something will materialise.

I take it Snodgrass hasn’t signed on anywhere else? I said the other week the link with us appeared to be his agent trying to drum up interest.

You wonder if he suddenly turns round and wants to join us. Would Hammell want him. Strange Q maybe but with all the chat of only wanting players who want to be here etc. All that said he may have been waiting until deadline to see what offers were available before making a decision. Which on the face of it nothing really wrong with that.

Strange that no one signed yesterday. We must have had principal and back up targets for the forward we stated we were looking to bring in. Perhaps something will happen today if we got something over the line at midnight. Who knows. All rather underwhelming…..

The 2nd goal didnt show a weakness in the defence...

It 100% did.  I agree Kelly could have come and claimed it and I notice that he is not very adept at coming out for crosses. But anytime when a player can score with a header a few yards from the goal then the defence has been found wanting.

Sol had plenty of time to judge the ball but not for the 1st time it went sailing over his head. He should be dealing with that more than I would blame Goss. That is his job. I like Sol and when balls come straight at him he is excellent. But when he gets his positioning wrong and is backtracking he is pretty useless sadly.

  18. 2 hours ago, Kmac said:

Aarons isn’t a bad signing. It actually makes a lot of sense considering that Hammell still seems to want to play 3 up top and both Efford and Morris are absolutely pish - so we needed another option.

What is doesn’t change however is that we have less than 48 hours to get the spine of the team sorted.

We are still a CB, CM and CF short

I agree with this and these positions.  3 quality additions that will more than likely start games. The CF as back up / competition for Kev.

We badly need a solid and dependable CB that can defend cross balls. Ojala looks out of the picture. Which leaves us Sol, Lamie and Mugabi. If one of them get injured we literally have no cover other than playing players out of position or promoting youngsters. Leaving aside that Alexander himself acknowledged the defence / goals against column was not good enough last season. And yet here we are and literally nothing has changed.

The 2nd goal on Saturday highlights that these weaknesses are still very apparent and it cost us a point at least. On their day all 3 CB are decent. But they are not always at it and certainly not for a full 90 minutes. We should never lose a goal like that on Saturday. How none of our defenders could judge a ball that came in from (almost) the half line beggars belief !

Maguire is a completely different kind of player to Campbell, so if the expectation was he could replace him, then disappointment was inevitable.

As I've said before, the reason we have an academy is so we can produce a quality of player we couldn't afford to buy. Turnbull and Campbell are those types of player.

Yes he is. He is a much poorer player. He gets a lot of support because he was an Academy kid. I like him but I don’t think he is top flight quality. And nothing I have seen in any of his many performances dissuades me of that notion. He has had a couple of good appearances but the majority he does not offer a great deal. Sideways and back passes and long shots that are slow and off target mostly. Would  love him to kick on but if he has not done so as of yet then…….to me Cornelius offers more in midfield.
