I knew we'd see this hysterical reaction when we hit this run of games, so I can't say I'm surprised.
For me, Hearts and Dundee United away, with Celtic and Rangers at home was always going to be a tough run of games. I thought we'd maybe get a point out of that lot at best, but although we didn't, we did get a point at Ibrox which was unexpected.
The St Mirren game is the only real bugbear I have at the moment. We should have won that one, and although there were extenuating circumstances involved, we didn't really deserve more than the point we got.
However, before the aforementioned run we managed to draw away at St Johnstone and Rangers, while beating Livingston, and we beat Dundee, Aberdeen and Ross County at home, only losing to Hibs in the season opener.
We're currently sitting 7th, although we're joint 5th really on points with Aberdeen and Hibs, which isn't bad at all.
We're playing Aberdeen and Dundee away this month, with Hearts and Dundee United at home. I'd be looking for 4 points minimum from those games, with 5 or more being a good return.
Everyone knows the directives our manager has at the start of the season. Avoid relegation, challenge for top six if we can. Personally, I didn't think top six was going to be realistic this season with the quality in the league. I see Rangers and Celtic in some form taking the top two slots, with Hearts, Hibs and Dundee United taking three. It'll likely be between Aberdeen, and one of St Mirren, St Johnstone or ourselves for that final place.
If we can nab that we can consider this a very good season.
Is the football entertaining? I guess not, but I find it strange when Motherwell fans talk about entertaining football. I honestly don't even realise if we're playing attractive football, as my main concern is us winning. I'm invested in the result, and kicking every ball during the 90 minutes. If entertaining football was the prerequisite for supporting a football team the majority of sides would have no fans.
If I want entertainment I'll fire on the Sky box and watch Chelsea or Man City. More often than not the big teams with the most talented footballers can provide entertainment. I watch Motherwell not to be entertained, but because it's just what I've always done.
Hysterical reaction, geez a break David, Motherwell fans giving an opinion about our current manager and our current form . If this form continues and we slide into the relegation zone ……then you’ll see a melt down.

Have you forgotten how bad we were before he arrived? We were in the relegation mix.
A rebuilt squad needs time to gel and if someone had told you we'd be equal 6th on points after the first round of fixtures you have side "that's fine". And common wisdom is that it takes 3 or 4 windows for a manager to get the squad he wants.
If we're back in the relegation mix in March it might be time to re-assess, but right now we're doing better than I thought we would by October.
Good post weeyin, it’s all about opinions .

No not "Alexander out.....yet.
But do you think we've actually improved under Alexander, and if you don't think we have do you think we will?
Personally, I'd say no to both, this is utter garbage were watching. It's now his players and tactics, so he's running out of excuses.

He's doing very well. Good luck to him.
Been good if we could have kept him for a few more seasons Dave, we could do with a bit of creativity in the team.

Young Stuart McKinstry on the bench for Leeds tonight against Newcastle.

Any live streams ?

Just based purely on what I've seen this season, this present regime is going nowhere .We look like a pub team . Airdrie looked well drilled and athletic while we looked clueless and unfit.
Airdrie the pride of Lanarkshire.

I think Alexander is caught between a rock and a hard place, he’ll know the squad aren’t good enough and that certain players couldn’t care less.
Bringing the totally uninterested Chris Long on yesterday , hoping he just might ,as he occasionally does ,do something ,highlights his problems. More often that not he does S.F.A.
But what can he do ,we could still be relegated, he’s got to try and get the best out of this squad of players .That means to the best of his abilities trying to keep the players onside hoping we can get to the end of the season still in the top flight.
1-4 Accies, 0-3 St Johnstone was bad ,but that display yesterday i.m.o was our worst result and performance of the season.
If I’m reading the stats correctly that was Killies first win in 11 games ,of which they’ve lost 9 and scored 5 goals along the way?Another concern is we’re struggling against the bottom 6 teams, we can beat Hibs and Livi , but get steamrolled by Hamilton and Kilmarnock .
-
What’s the big surprise .We’re where we are in the league because we’re crap.
-
Not overly impressed with Alexander if I'm being honest .Even when your shite you should at least set up the team for 0-0.

Never mind the revamped John Hunter shed is looking good, new sound system installed and hot water in the toilets. We'll have one of the best stadiums in the championship.

We basically shit it against the accies almost every time we play them.

Thanks Grew - scarred I was at that early age and the intervening years haven't helped lol.
Aye 4-2 was at both games. What I remember is Rangers supporters just pissing all over the east terrace .And at Ibrox a Rangers fan launching an empty bottle down the terracing , the police came up a few minutes later asked if anyone know or saw anything. Nobody said a word , I knew after that tie what I had always suspected that Rangers fans are a bunch of scum bastard's.

We need to sign three players and hopefully get rid of Seedorf and Long.
This week is massive on and off the park. Burrows is extremely quiet these days, if we get relegated he'll have to take the blame.
A lot of things that have led to this present situation , I feel a some of our policies are wrong, our recruitment is flawed, losing good young players ( not necessarily the clubs fault ) before they make the first team is another , but it’s certainly not all down to Alan Burrows.

Thought we looked a lot more organised today . Great point .

Good player and signing. Will walk straight into the team. Knows the club and will give 100% for the cause.
Welcome back Stevie.

I really don't care about old firm games anymore ,home or away . Would be delighted if we can get something today , just can't see it though.

What game was this guy at.
From Twitter
- Motherwell piling bodies forward in search of the goal.
- Cole and Polworth shots saved after brilliant flowing moves.
- Hastie causing havoc down St Mirren's right.
- Polworth heads just over from Gallagher's flick. -

We could play here all night and we wouldn't score
Spot on mate.

Something seriously wrong somewhere with our approach to old firm games, other" Diddy" teams if not winning can at least give a decent account of themselves. The last time we were half decent against Celtic was a few seasons ago when got a 1-1 draw playing with 10 men.

I don’t really see what more the club can do, it’s not like it only happens at Motherwell is it ?
I agree with you Yorkyred , I understand the club can’t do anything and that it’s happening at other clubs . We’ve done ok in transfer fees over the past few years and that’s always welcome for club like ours . But imagine a scenario where the club is financially secure and has a squad that’s shite and we get relegated.....nah that couldn’t happen .

Robbie Hemphrey signs for Stoke.
Our best young players being cherrypicked before we can get them under contract will eventually bite us on the arse.
Do we actually have any good youth players ready to break into the first team ? -

Agree we are brutal. No belief, heart or energy. We are so bad, i feel nothing anymore about this team. Those making up these hand ball laws are having a laugh and destroying the game as any competition. Rather than trying to create we would be as well as firing the ball at the opponents arms! We shoud have had two penalties for a blatant push in the back, and dangerous follow through from their defender on Watt. But as we aint the old firm we are never getting those decisions.
Is their any point in following scottish football and motherwell any more? Any decent youngsters we try to bring through are now being snapped up before they even play for the reserves never mind the first team. We are then left to cherry pick with other scottish clubs for the dross that has failed in the lower end of the english leagues.
This.

Thought it was a good win in terrible conditions, whole team played well . The front three were brilliant and a special mention for big Beavis , he gets a bit of stick at times but he was superb last night.
