  1. St Mirren had a big crowd too, we don't have the divine right to win a game.

I feel like we could have went for it a bit earlier, as we weren't making chances, and I think they only had to make one save, so that's disappointing. Especially since we have been good for at least a goal in every game recently.

In the paper today it says Arsenal have written into the loan that he is only allowed to play a certain number of minutes due to an injury.

Kettlewell said in his last interview that we were advised to limit his minutes initially, and in his own words "we are clear of that now." So the papers picking up on half of the sentence.

He's coming back from injury and missed a chunk of pre season, we will be building him up to start soon enough.

  3. He was rated by Alexander, and was doing pretty well in his system (for wuat its worth) before he got injured. Then we started wanting midfielders to play football again, so there was no place for him once he got back. He is also injured a lot.

Oh, he is also two footed.

I agree that we offered some weird extensions under GA, which seemed to be more about who did the dirty work that GA wanted, instead of how good they were.

  4. We were solid and deserved our win. We made hibs look ordinary and didn't give their attack a look in, even with Doidge throwing elbows around like prime Dusty Rhodes.

That midfield three is just excellent, they never stopped and you can see things beginning to click with the inter play.

Mika looks to have replaced KVV in the "just put the ball in his general vicinity and he can do the rest" stakes.

Sorry Steelboy but there was a lot more wrong with Hammell's reign than that and I mean a lot more. A catastrophic appointment and I don't use those words lightly.

Yep, the more I look back at the appointment the worse it gets.

Those two signings were definitely up there though, particularly because he openly said we didn't expect Moult to start often.

Could we not approach Brighton to try and get Furlong back on loan? If not then I would like to see young Wilson get a chance but I am not writing soaree off yet.

McGinley a nice guy and had horrendous time off through injury but I would try and find a buyer for him

We tried but there's a potential issue with them loaning out too many players internationally. Maybe something that could happen closer to the deadline.

  7. I didn't think he was particularly bad. It did seem that our attacking play was mainly down the right though. Fair play to him for busting his ass to get forward for the goal, opening up the space for Bair.

I'd still be very surprised if we don't sign another wing back to at least give us some competition there.

In summary, it seems that the strategy the club should follow is to sign players like the ones we have taken a punt on and succeeded and not sign players like the ones we have taken a punt on and not succeeded.

Sounds straightforward. I'm not sure why the club hasn't tried this before.

We also need to sign players who will never leave, unless they play shite, and as such should then tear up their contract.

  9. Went for "contract year" Slattery. All three midfielders had decent games, but I thought he influenced things a bit more. I'm enjoying Miller while we have him, he's a very tidy player.

I didn't think anyone was particularly bad, but it does look like Casey is going to be afforded more mistakes than some others in our lineup. Hopefully a couple more games gets him back up to full speed. As with the rest of the lineup, there's no lack of effort there.

Hopefully Biereth has some pace, as we have plenty of work rate up front, but we still need a cutting edge.

  10. McCowan caused us all sorts of problems drivng down the wing in the same conditions. Efford is our best option for changing things and has some running power, but he is just back from another injury, so we're going to have to slowly bring him back into things again.

  11. Pretty even game in bad conditions. I thought our midfield showed in patches that they could be very good this season, but we did lack a cynical touch for some of their breakaways.

In general everyone looked OK, and we did a good job of getting the initiative back after their goal, and finished the game piling the pressure on them.

I thought wilkinson looked a bit sharper, and he holds the ball up well.

  12. Can we try and negotiate a sell on clause when he's recalled from the loan? If we make him better we should get some money. Or, if he's good can we threaten Arsenal that we will feed him to Butcher if they don't pay a ransom? Monetizing loans is the next big inefficiency.
