  1. stop following him on twitter then!! i think McCall had a chat with Pardew - along the lines of some of them were going to the Championship this season but if there were other who he fancied then they could have a chat about it apart from centre mid, i was thinking the exact same - when he played with Utd and Celtic, he was very much an attacking full back - maybe he still has something in the locker he could offer us going forward. I could see him play Right Mid in a 442 - but certainly NOT a wide right player as part of a 433 Although we were awesome last season - i think the team picked itself and we were pretty predictable with regards to line up and formation. This season so far, we have played a few formations - so it will be interesting to see how it pans out over the season totally agree, although I fully expect Nielsen to be an able deputy - the experience in front of him should only help
  2. and some wee guy got ended up with a broken arm from a wayward Ronaldo shot for the privilege!! i was thinking the same about our game, would be so much better if we allowed PATG, but i think UEFA stipulate it must be all ticket
  3. its a shame we have aberdeen the following weekend - cant see them agreeing to a switch why would they? it might get moved to the sunday - but a tues/wed - no way, why would they want to travel down from there at night when they dont need to?? as for the comparison made with Celtic, as much as i think the friendly scenario thing is a load of rubbish and should be binned - its in the rules, they are allowed to do it if Aberdeen do not agree to the switch - Motherwell should arrange a friendly and play the U20s, letting the 1st team rest - and get round it that way
  4. whilst i whole heartedly agree, i cant see it the club will be looking to maximise their profit as much as they can from this game the reality is, this could be our only home game in europe this season
  5. we're not a shit team from yorkshire though, we're parrt of the european elite
  6. no st j are only in that position because the draw takes place before the tie has finished
  7. FFS this place is mad we need to settle down, it may be taking longer than some folk would like but that is life its been made out that this has been dragging on for ages - it hasnt just because everyone has access to the internet and specifically twitter - they expect answers immediately contracts take time to draft up and read through, and as i already mentioned, with a potential third party involved - there are more eyes reading over this than normal everyone needs to take a chill pill - there is no way there would be this much choas if it was anyone else
  8. im hearing the deal is being brokered again, so theres more people involved than there would be for a "normal" deal plenty of to-ing and fro-ing, this is why its not been announced yet
  9. you only have to look at Keith Lasley - a quiet type assumed by many on here, criticised by people on here for not having those loud volume type antics that people want to see, clenched fists and overly aggressive, talked down for being too slow and too old that may be how the fans are looking at it - its not only on the park that counts, theres more to it than that but i have it from the "horses mouth" that he is the fittest at he club, leading by example in training, being at the front when doing runs and showing the younger players you reap what you sow by putting in the hard work McManus is a great addition in my eyes, very similar to Hutchy in that he would run through a brick wall or tackle his granny - a great attacking aerial threat and someone who has played at a higher level all these things moulded together are definitely a welcome addition
  10. what do the Norwegian legion think of this?! what do they know about this player?!?!? what type of player can we expect?
  11. if we were lucky enough to have played them on a saturday, i could've seen them filling it as a possibility a tuesday night game - ko at 7, when most people dont finish work til 5ish - then if they bring over a 1000 - fair play to them
  12. im not long home, had a great day out albeit a long one lovely stadium, and outstanding pitch and set up beer being sold, being allowed out for a fag.....me, my dad and the wee man in for a total of £16!! great value the wee man also got to take a penalty at HT on the pitch along with other youngsters their fans were trying to wind up the motherwell fans, "engerland, engerland" - "whats it like to wear a skirt" then "can ye hear the motherwell sing", so the only song of the day was sung to that, and most folk joined in - so nice timing!!! new signings, keeper had hee haw to do, Hollis had more to do in the 2nd half Sutton - another clash of heads, 7 stitches on tuesday althogh this time im guessing it was precautionary he was taken off - the other guy defo came off worse Reid was the best of the new signings IMO,got forward well, and put in a good few tackles. Lawson played well too - Vigurs gave the ball away a few times, although we only had 3 chances IMO his 35 yard strike, McHughs shot and Murrays chance ZFA was the only width we had - LAw, Las and Vigurs played central - with no one on the right, until Reid pushed forward Hutchy played well against Paynter tpday - was very impressed with him great day - although no goals - well done to all who travelled, more than i expected
  13. Scott McDonald - punted out by AFC Wimbledon, failed in multiple trials, thinking of giving up on football, Dundee Utd told him he was too small/unfit/overweight - Look at what he done for us Henrik Ojamma - released by Derby, played in some random league in Germany, played with a randon Finnish team - came to play for us, now he's going to play Champions Lge football We need to give people a chance and see them play before you say they are shite
  14. surely i offered enough of my thoughts? however i am of the same opinion as Well4Europe.........the guy has played at a higher level than Motherwell his whole career. Yes he might be 31 and he might be on a downward spiral but surely he still has something to offer, on and off the park he's a left sided centre back, something we dont curently have however, if the signing of reid gets confirmed - then Kerr, Ramsden, Cummins and Reid all in the same boat that they can play RB or CB Zander Diamond left Aberdeen for Oldham, then Burton - that isnt the same as leaving Celtic for Boro and Bristol City(loan) McManus has probably made a fortune out of the game - Diamond probably hasnt. McManus is probably in a position, like McFadden, that if he wants to come back to Scotland, and in particular the Lanarkshire area - he can afford to pick and choose who he wants to play for. Money isn't the clincher here
  15. i'll turn the question on its head and ask why you dont think he would be a good addition? IMO - he has bags of experience playing at a higher level than Motherwell, like i said the other day - you cant play at a high level for all those years and be gash, you also dont get picked for your country that many times if you are terrrible now im not going to say, he will come in and set the heather on fire - but surely with his history, he would be a great addition to the team, and pass on some of his valuable experience to Hutchy, Kerr and Cummins. We are meant to be a selling club, this is a chance for a guy to come in, for the younger boys learn from him, push on and possibly earn us some money with a transfer fee there are plenty of players over the years who have come to us when they have been on a "downward slide" and managed to turn in very very good performances - i dont understand why you see this as a negative move
  16. he's making the right noises and i twould be foolish if we didnt try to capitalise on it - however, new contract inevitably bring with it more money - would this eat away at our current budget and stop us from signing other players? for me, signing mcmanus and tying up hutchy would be a great bit of business - yo bring in the old head, pass on the experience and hope that adds value to Hutchys selling price (loathe McManus or not, you'd be a fool if you thought he wouldnt bring something to our team - you dont play in at the level he has, for as long as he has, if you are totally shit)
  17. ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ my keyboard doesnt have the Euro symbol!!!! fair play to him and good luck - dont grudge anyone a move (financially or not) as long as they gave their all whilst they were with us and he certainly did that
  18. aw FFS - friday night fitba!!!!!
  19. Anyone know officially when we offered a new contract to Hateley? Surely we would do this? In a sense its money for nothing..........or did the board/manager want him off the wage bill to spend the money elsewhere and didnt want to take the chance that he would sign a new deal?? "For clubs to have a claim for training compensation, they must have offered new contracts to the players on similar or better terms no later than 90 days prior to the expiration of their previous deals."
  20. is he not originally from Uddingston?!? i'd take him - wise old head, plenty of experience at a higher level and you hope that he would be able to pass that on to Hutchy, Cummins and Kerr they always say the spine of a team is the most important - could we really complain if we had Hutchy, McManus, Las, Lawson, Sutton?? If Neilsen signs, then you're hoping that he sees us as a stepping stone with a point to prove. He's got to have learned something playing witho those big clubs, big names and the specialised coaching thats on offer
  21. i keep asking this question, but havent seen a definitive answer............can sevco actually sign him? i dont think they can
  22. no idea - would they not have only turned up an hour ago?!
  23. surely way out our wage bracket??? but i like the ones that come in under the radar
