  1. Pape Souare is confirmed to be out injured for 4 months, I wonder if we will see him play for us again. In the past with the likes of Dunne, Tanner, and co, we have generally been nice at offering deals to see them back to full fitness but I think Carroll was only offered training facilities.
  2. Thoroughly enjoyed that especially after his 'built upon fighting until the very end' comments on Saturday.
  3. Thoroughly enjoyed all these injury-time goals we have scored against Killie lately, there seemed to be a phase where Kris Boyd was either scoring a late winner or equaliser. I'm looking forward to seeing how Spencer develops, he ended up in the opposition box numerous times with some great chances, he is fairly rapid and perhaps should have been away when he was put through one-on-one. Well done to both Casey and Paton for the goals, loved the composure to let the Killie defenders slide to try and block the feint before launching the ball home.
  4. Bobby Madden was particularly generous to them in recent times with soft pens, I'm glad he's long gone. Seldom I'm in the know but I heard from a good source that Robinson had tried to take Liam Donnelly to St Mirren a few weeks back but he opted to return to Rugby Park. I'm looking forward to the cup game, we certainly owe them one as in recent times we have had Billy Mehmet knock us out with a late goal and I think we got pumped 3-0 in Gannon's days, not too mention the 4-4 at Fir Park a few years ago with the abysmal penalties that followed. I thought our defence was great on Saturday but obviously, we had a couple of issues we needed to deal with. St Mirren are in a decent run of form, some of their fans seem to have much more positive things to say about Mandron but he gave away a stupid penalty against Dundee and they were fortunate they missed it. The 'Well connections have been reduced significantly this season on the field for the Buddies. If our defence is on song again I feel we can progress with a 1 or 2 nil win.
  5. It's funny how football goes sometimes, I remember earlier in the year Goss said in an interview he was desperate to stay, this was obviously when we weren't enjoying a fruitful run of form, and at a time not many would have shed a tear if he departed. Fast forward months later you can't help but feel he has run into the same issue as Casey in that he didn't have as many potential suitors at a level he had hoped for. Good luck with whatever transpires for him, loved his assist for Max's goal against St Mirren, and his free-kick against Hibs was great too.
  6. I see one of our youth players Ali Gould joined Watford yesterday. He wasn't assigned a shirt number for this season and don't recall his name being mentioned in any of the retained or leaving list before hand. I'm sure he was once on the books at Rangers and Hamilton before arriving here so I'm guessing any cash we receive would be nominal.
  7. We haven't enjoyed many good memories in the last few years at Fir Park against Hibs. I think the last time we beat them, Seedorf and Hylton, tore them apart, however, I'm fairly confident we will get a result here hopefully the midweek European game takes its toll. Even though they beat that team in Europe quite convincingly their defence was really fragile and they were fortunate not to concede more and by all accounts, the same happened against St Mirren. Saying that I'm sure they will have their new 700k forward available, the forward line doesn't sound too bad with the likes of Boyle and Le Fondre. Looking forward to it.
  8. If he stays fit he'll be a great addition for them. I think we paid a nominal fee for him when he arrived from Hartlepool and Celtic moaned when we wouldn't accept their offer 6 months later. It's a massive loss for St Mirren, I've not seen much of Hemmings tbf but felt Carson was a great shot-stopper plus his distribution was excellent.

    The Pitch

Yeah, I noticed that too. Seemed to have blotchy bits all over but I'm sure it'll be back to the best soon enough.
  10. I think around that era there were some ludicrous headlines in the tabloids. The original Ronaldo was apparently approached by Rangers but it was something like he didn't need to play in SPL fixtures it was Europe only. Ironically enough it was at a time when they were also spending dosh above what they could afford but it was an additional 10 years after us that it caught up with them. I've ordered Pat's book, always interesting to get insights of particular events. I'm sure he and Boyle used to be good friends but I think that soured over the whole administration stuff.
  11. As sad as it sounds, I don't remember anyone in recent times letting their contract expire and then sign back on. Scott McDonald is probably the exception as he seemed to be allowed to set his own deadline. Goss mentioned earlier in the year in an interview he was desperate to stay but this was at a time when we weren't playing particularly well. A total assumption on my part but the team is back for pre season on Monday, I wonder if the deadline for players making a decision coincides with that date as come the weekend we're off on that pre season camp.
  12. Yeah definitely. We have been screaming out for a defensive midfielder and now we have one.
  13. New signing joins. Callum Butcher.
  14. White kit under the lights tonight.
  15. That's Mr T. Watt officially signed for St Mirren.
  16. Connor Shields loan move to Queens Park now official.
  17. That's Danzaki finally confirmed.
  18. According to Scott Burns we're looking to get the Riku Danzaki deal done today.
  19. Matt Penney signs for Charlton Athletic.
  20. Frustrating to say the least, Kevin Nisbet had three touches in our box and each time it ended with the ball in our net. Apart from a Porteous free kick going well wide I don't remember them actually having another pop at goal. I guess that tells the story of where we are. Any points today would have been greatly received due to the games in hands over some of our rivals but we blew it as per. We're barely past the half way point in the league and next week already feels like a must win.
  21. Just my opinion but I feel like Solholm has been the better of the centre backs by far this season, Lamie had a fantastic 2021/22 season but some brain farts have crept back into his game recently. As for the penalty Sol's arms are down by his side in a natural position and he swivels at the last second which leaves the gap between his arms and body, it's like what's he suppose to do. Defenders will need to get in the habit of having their hands behind their back in those instances.
  22. That was a really frustrating game for a variety of reasons. I actually thought we started the game well before Hearts grew into it, they missed some glorious chances before we managed to gain control again, typically though when they went down to ten men it's like we just forget how to play, mentally somethings up with that. It was really frustrating watching them spray the ball about finding space it honestly looked like we were the man down. Also to get stung with goals before and right after half time was a kick in the tadger, I'm not planning to sit through the highlights of that game again but at Hearts first goal it looked like Halliday clearly headed the ball out only to be given another corner, obviously we should be defending better but that was just one of some horrible calls. I don't know what Snodgrass was trying to do with McGinn as he looked to dive across him and miss then got up and done it again as he tried to hit the ball resulting in an injury but no foul was given. Hopefully that's not a long term layoff. When Moult came on we looked more direct and with more urgency and emphasis getting forward, it's baffling that Craig Gordon didn't get a second yellow at the penalty incident, Clancy wasn't long in whipping it out for Moult when he was trying to retrieve the ball after scoring. It was typical that Van Veen scored a stunner but it was just offside, but it was a nice assist by McKinstry to setup Spittal for the equaliser. I know VAR looked at the penalty decisions so I suppose I can't argue but Moult unleashed a powerful volley which was on target which struck Sibbick's arm which was in an unnatural position, I'm assuming this wasn't awarded as it was at such close range while Solholm's was a tad reminscent of the one Hearts got away with against Celtic, his arms are down by his side in a completely natural position but hits him when he swivels to block a shot, defenders will need to get into the habit of playing with their hands behind their backs. Aberdeen and Hearts must be the only sides enjoying VAR atm. Anyway Celtic and Willie Collum await us on Wednesday night.
  23. Yeah definite red, nasty challenge leaving his leg in, Watt knew it as soon as he connected with Goss.
