  1. I see Trevor Carson has not been taking Richard Tait's advice on how to maintain a receding hair line.
  2. These St Mirren commentators are tremendous. They don't think it was a penalty despite the clear footage that the defender has his arm way out blocking a goal bound shot,
  3. None at all but St Mirren have had two great chances in the last few minutes and put it by the post by miles. Should be taking that as a warning.
  4. Stephen O'Donnell on for McGinn
  5. Paul McGinn and Mark O'Hara clashing heads. McGinn coming off worst.
  6. It's been a bit of a cagey start. Nice run by Van Veen before he was fouled and he managed to head the resulting free kick across the goal but sadly no takers. A wee bit frustrating as we had a trio of crosses in quick succession that all hit the first man.
  7. http://www.hesgoal.com/news/St_Mirren_vs_Motherwell.html
  8. Yeah Terry Butcher and Ian Baraclough. However, Jim Gannon was born in London but moved to Ireland at a young age and he said he considers himself to be Irish.
  9. The B Team line up Carson, Gallacher, Shaughnessy, Dunne, Strain, Baccus, Erhahon, O'Hara, Tanser, Greive and Ayunga. Subs Urminsky, Tait, Fraser, Reid, Flynn, Henderson, Offord, Brophy and Main. Richard Tait was a tad generous in the last few fixtures against them. I thought Carson was looking at a lengthy layoff but seems to have recovered from injury. Hopefully we can get off to a positive start.
  10. Todays Team Kelly, McGinn, Solholm, Lamie, Carroll, Maguire, Goss, Spittal, Morris, Shields and Van Veen. Subs Fox, O'Donnell, Mugabi, Efford, Cornelius, Tierney, Mahon, Speirs and Ferrie.
  11. According to the Daily Express he's about to sign a new deal that will take him up to 2024.
  12. Speaking of Slattery, it looked like he pulled up in the last few minutes of the game. So hopefully that wasn't too serious, he was directing players to not play it to him which they ended up doing.
  13. You can order the programme on Curtis Sport's website, they're generally rapid at getting them out as well. https://www.curtis-sport.com/online-store/Motherwell-v-Sligo-Rovers-21-07-22-p478710365
  14. Thank you. I'm trying to add more positive results than negatives to the channel but my main intention is to use the highlights alongside match reports on my website. I know what you mean, Raith have been down the leagues now for 26 years or so, I've always had that worry when you look at Falkirk and Dunfermline who have ended up in the second tier and even Partick Thistle who not so long ago finished in the top 6th of the Premiership ended up way down there.
  15. TBF he had a great first year all things considered, it was after he signed his deal everything sadly took a turn for the worse.
  16. I have been updating my YouTube channel the past few weeks, reading this thread had inspired me to do so as I have a ton of VHS videos containing live matches and Scotsport episodes squirrelled away all ranging in different quality of course. Motherwellnet YouTube When it comes to my favourite match, I could point to all the easy ones but beating high flying Hearts 6-1 in December 2002 was a particular highlight for me. Obviously it was the first full season in administration, for that reason I had made it a point that I would attend every home game that season, I had to do it with my own money for the first time and typically Motherwell had been on a really poor run, I think we had beaten Celtic in September and failed to win again until this fixture. We blew Hearts away going in a 4-0 at half time, David Partridge at one point tried to clear the ball at the edge of our box of Stevie Woods goal but the ball hit the junction of the post like a rocket and bounced back into play. I think we only got the 6 league wins all of which were again the top 6 teams and includes beating Rangers and Celtic and humping Livi 6-1. Hard to believe that was going on 20 years now.
  17. I do agree with you somewhat, I'm not one to hit the panic button early, just an example under McLeish and McGhee in the past we have stared relegation in the face going into late February/March and then enjoyed unbeaten runs which have put us in a healthy position in the league come the end of it, domestically it's so hard to predict what will happen. However I don't think people are wrong to point to last season and to point out how dreadful the second half it was, Alexander had spoke about changing the system and style but last nights performance was pretty much the same as we got in the second half of last season and that's with the inclusion of our three newest recruits and that's probably what disappointed me the most. I do feel last night will serve us well next week in regards to match fitness and sharpness but my worry is we don't seem to learn from our mistakes. But as you say personally I'll wait until the the actual league campaign kicks off before I mess my Y Fronts, it was around this time last year we added the like of Slattery and Ojala, hopefully we are able to add additional quality to the squad. We have a favourable start to the league season before it gets tough in October, it'll be interesting to see where we are then.
  18. Was there not some ridiculous ruling that the seat backing had to be of a certain height and our came in at like an inch too short? Plus i'm sure UEFA rank countries differently so while you might be denied using your facilities you could play an opponent who have worse and it's all right. Always find them very pedantic. I seen on YouTube the guy that does the 'Footy Adventures' channel saying he got abuse for making his video off a lot of fans, he was sitting in the John Hunter, seems a bit uncharacteristic as he was nearer the Davie Cooper side but a real shame if true. I can only really echo other sentiments of the game others have mentioned so no point covering the same issues. I felt that it reminded me a lot of the Llanelli game way back when, I remember the big guy Mumford absolutely dominating from the back, all the while Gannon had us passing it between the defenders with no real penetration. You would hope Alexander has learnt a lot from last night and hopefully that extra competitive edge as served us well for the second leg.
  19. I was reading an article about the Sligo keeper a few days back, born and bred in Motherwell and supports Celtic, I know thats not a generally surprising thing tbf but I hope we pop plenty past him. He is literally on the verge of moving to an English League One club, this tie will be likely his last for them. Looking forward to the competitive football being back, a European run would be nice, hopefully we can take a decent scoreline over to Ireland with us.
  20. Scott Burns at the Daily Express used to cover our player transfers and was always on the money, don't know if he still covers us as he seems to do a lot of stuff based on Aberdeen these days. I had seen Woolery linked with a move a few days ago and just assumed it was a fake rumour until I seen it posted by them. I was surprised by the keeper link as a few days ago Graham Alexander was saying he was looking at two or three players for attacking positions, I'm not sure if that was said prior to Morris joining though. Liam Kelly you would imagine would have suitors and would Scott Fox be looking for some game time as he is now 35. Im not really gutted about losing Woolery, I feel he should have offered much more than he delivered, ironically enough he seemed to get a bit of form then he was benched. Hopefully get a decent fee.
