  1. The Tom Boyd stuff is interesting, when he was voted Greatest Ever Captain his interview was pretty poor, referring to Motherwell as "yous" and "I won more than yous". I don't expect that our players support Motherwell and if he's a Celtic fan at heart then good luck to him, but players are probably the only people connected to the game where it's accepted to have a fondness for more than one club and if you've captained a club to their only success in many of their fans' memories then I'd think you'd be a bit more affectionate. Glad to read that he seems to be after all...

As for the vote, I went for Cammy Bell for that goal that day....

  2. My point was mainly tongue in cheek, but the amount of Celtic content he's liked and the number of tweets from their fans saying they'll see him in January or similar he's also liked, would suggest that his head may very well still be along the M74.

The media have already seized on his 'likes' when the move was going ahead so I wouldn't be surprised if they do so again if Celtic need the pressure put back on publicly.

  3. Not having a go at you here, but that kind of sums up Scottish football... Gannon rightly or wrongly felt the players should be avoiding alcohol during the season to improve their fitness. Collins had a similar issue at Hibs.

  4. That looks bad on the senior pro's but the context of that event needs to be taken into account ie
Did we have a game the next day or two?
Had we just have a game and what was the score?
Was he punishing the players for a bad result, preparing them for a game or just being a b****** because he could?

He wanted the players to avoid alcohol completely during the season.

You can argue the merits of that and the context of that night, but it was quite telling seeing the different reactions of the players.

  5. He was interviewed for the Hibs job shortly before Motherwell and the story of both interviews was much the same.

He had a depth of knowledge on every player at the clubs which was incredible, right down to the youths. He also had a file of transfer targets for every position which was also incredibly detailed, with several targets and how their qualities would complement other targets.

It's fair to say the board weren't unhappy to see him go, but they were certainly extremely impressed at the outset.

Some obvious issues with man management, but I remember at Craigan's testimonial race night all of the younger players were on soft drinks as he had asked all of the players to be - the senior pros were all defiantly on the beer.

  6. Hopefully he comes back fully fit after surgery and puts in some performances that alert clubs other than Celtic to his talent and potential, and that allows the club to choose not to deal with Celtic again after their shoddy handling of the whole thing.

Based on nothing other than interviews he's given I get the impression he'll do what he thinks is best for his long term career so I'd hope of it means  another year at Fir Park he'll be fine with that. He's too good to be wasted in Scottish football, he's got the potential to follow Andy Robertson's path.

So bored of this now it's time to tell them to fuck off grow a set of balls. If they don't meet the price in the contract or don't want to pay then say nah it's beyond a joke now.

The club couldn't wait  were forced to announce this deal after it was leaked to the media now nothing but radio silence we not good enough to be kept in the loop anymore?.I am sure they know or could come out with something regarding the situation.

    Fixed that for you...

It's obviously only when we are selling players that there's a fixed price!  It's dynamic prices when we are buying

There's the reason fees are 'Undisclosed'... Every agent and club will know we've just came into £3million and the wages and fees increase as a result.

Fees are undisclosed for a number of reasons, to hide information from fans is nowhere near the top.

  9. He's generally a very angry chap during the games full stop... I've seen him offering a square go to a fellow fan who asked him to stop swearing so much in front of young kids. A totally different guy in his day job...

As has been mentioned, the throwing of the lighter/pie is inexcusable and the culprit should be punished. What's more annoying is the fact that at the very point the media finally start to highlight the sectarian issues the supporters of the other clubs now seem to be on a mission to steal that spotlight, and are making it very easy for the media to quietly move on from the sectarian singing. Gerrard no longer has to dodge questions about FTP and FB's and instead gets to paint The Rangers as the innocent victims.

We'll never know if The Rangers could have stepped it up yesterday if they needed to as the whole gameplan changed when we gifted them a goal, but outwith the 3 gifts they were given there was not much for Gillespie to do. Ditto McGregor mind. If Ariyibi converted the Hastie cross early on then the Motherwell mindset changes as well but neither team was creating chance after chance. The second goal was the worst for me, Tait slips (fair enough, that's bad luck) but leaves a gap that they exploit at left back, Dunne goes out to cover and we look like we'll deal with it fairly comfortably until he gives Turnbull a terrible pass and there's now a gaping hole where Dunne should have been for them to easily exploit. Avoidable on so many levels....

I was in the east stand and there were a few boos when the teams were being read out. I'm sure though there was a slight baws up with that and hastie was actually read out as number 28 and turnbull wasn't even mentioned.  (This may have been my middle aged ears playing tricks on me though)

So I'm going to take an ultra positive view on it, that the fans who did boo were suffering from OCD and the fact that the team lines were read out wrong enraged them enough to react.

I think this is the situation in a nutshell - Speedie read out "28 David Hastie" and there was a bit of pantomime booing at the error.
