  1. Would it making a reasonable point or just incredibly petty if we were to take the approach during the pre-match handshakes to shake hands as normal up until Sinclair, then immediately we felt contact from him, be duly entitled to go down? Not exactly subtle so maybe a job for a mascot rather than a player. Or bring in Louis van Gaal.
  2. Hi mateI'd be happy to take a couple. I don't do PayPal but happy to meet up pre or post game and pay cash. I'm sure I did that the last time. Thanks S
  3. Any links to the press statement? Maybe I'm thick, but I can't see it, although I'm using work machine which might not find everything

The result obviously helps, as does the performances of Carson, Hartley etc al, but I thought Dunne played a significant role in the clean sheet. Had a knack of being in the right place to clear umpteen times, as the number of crosses from our right side rained in. His passing at times was ropey but defensively spot on. His challenge as last man was both very well timed and brave given he was going to take a clattering and also open to a possible red card. I don't think it was, but have seen them given (and would have been screaming for it!).Especially when he's been on the wrong end of 3 or 4 poor decisions in his short time here. As far as voting? As with so many games this season, too hard to pick just one.
  5. The celebrations when that went in... The belief hitting home that we had an away goal, and a great chance in the tie, instead of a 2-0 defeat and a huge mountain to climb. And we should have got through ☹️
  6. It's from Porridge. Also referenced is Googie Withers... within these walls Damn, I'm old.
  7. It was a great night. Well done to all those involved, from organisers, sponsors, compere, bookies, punters...oh and the players for their time too. A healthy sum raised, which is what it's all about.
  8. Guilty as charged on both counts.Apologies if rant and paper were OTT. On the subject of Beaton I couldn't believe what time wasting was allowed. While it would only smack of sour grapes now, I can't believe I paid £22 to watch the ball in play for probably less than 45 mins in total.
  9. I'm guessing that makes me one of her two eejits, my son being the other. Cheers for that. I appreciate that my views may be different from others, and also that I can be loud. If that makes me an eejit, I've been one for a fecking long time. I hope to be around for a long time to come, so choose your seat wisely ;o)
  10. Sadly, that's now the main thought in my head about the team, the season, Motherwell FC as a whole. They've got my season ticket money and today's "performance" was one step too far. The remaining games? I really can't be bothered. As a fan of some 40 years, I've seen plenty of guff, but today I asked why do I bother. Nobody else seemed to. Depressing doesn't get close to describing it. Gutting? Maybe that's closer.

Just getting time to post now. That's what comes of having a phone with no signal, a 170 mile drive home, passengers to drop off, and family desperate to do stuff with you when you've been away all day Saturday! All worth if though :0) I thought both teams were a bit nervy, but County definitely took control maybe 15-20 mins in. We looked very fragile and not too many players looked like they wanted the ball. Route 1 was pretty much the only outlet and rarely looked like it would achieve much. Lawson and Lasley looked very slow up against Gardyne, and the twice he skipped away from them, he was attacking our back 4 at pace, but fortunately we survived. I was keen to see half time and change something as we looked very disjointed. However, for some reason (I didn't see anything obvious) we kind of got braver with 5-10 mins of first half to go. Players wanted the ball and started winning battles against their opposite number. We started to link up well and made progress with the ball on the deck. The 2nd half saw more of the same. Erwin linked well with Sutton and also found space on the flanks to give back 4 or midfield an out ball. A couple of quality strikes in quick succession gave the team a huge lift, and I couldn't see a way back for County. I thought we were more likely to score than them, but they huffed and puffed and did enough down our right to pull one back and make the last 10 a bit more nervy. I think we deserved the 3 points, if only just. Man of the match? I thought Reid had an excellent game out of position, and some of Vigurs play was magnificent, but energy, guts, tenacity from Erwin shaded it for me. He's still raw and can be a bit clumsy but there's definitely talent there and a great work ethic.
  12. not a reply to any post in particular, just a dump of the rubbish going round my head since the pain of Saturday afternoon. First and foremost, there seems to be a lack of confidence about the team, which I guess, stems from some of the performances of late. Trying to be objective and balanced, I thought we started OK on Saturday, and up until the goals, didn't look anything like as bad as we did at the end. Sadly, the effects of the goals, and the cheapness of them seemed to drain what fragile confidence we did have, and galvanized United, to the point where they were almost toying with us. They could and should have scored more than they did, indeed the offside goal looked very dodgy from my seat at half-way in the East. But we didn't ask anything like enough questions of them, and they took full advantage. The main thing that struck me about the two teams was the difference in workrate off the ball. For the most part, United players had an option to pass to feet virtually all the time, which was in complete contrast to 'Well players. Their man in possession had an easy pass if he wanted, where ours were forced to launch it, or attempt to beat the United players (and there was normally more than one) challenging for the ball, or be caught in possession. ZFA losing the second goal being a prime example. It seemed the guy on the ball was being hung out to dry, and left with a lose-lose situation. Downward spiral, as possession surrendered, we chased the ball for a while, and confidence dipped Trying to work out why (it sure beats working !) it seems obvious enough that some of our players are slower when compared to last year. We haven't replaced the pace of Humphrey or Ojamaa, for example, and Lasley and McFadden are a year older. Is this enough to explain it ? I don't think it can be just that. I agree with most of the constructive posts on here, in that I suspect we need to change formation to suit the players we have, instead of persisting with the notion of forcing last season's formation onto this season's players. We don't have BAD players, but we certainly don't have EFFECTIVE ones, well not at the moment. The team, or the fans at least, got a lift when Moore came on. His effort was rightly applauded, and while some of that might be down to the patience given to a young player, he contributed plenty of zest, and also one of the two dangerous crosses we produced in the game, right along the 6-yard line. Can we start with him, or would that put too much pressure on ? Would he be the next to be dismissed as the promising youngster that didn't quite live up to expectation, if he couldn't achieve the same level of performance over a longer period ? Difficult to say, especially as patience is kind of scarce at times. It might also put pressure on the player if he is seen as the "solution". I think it's safe to say we are in for a tougher time than we've been used to in recent seasons. I'd better go and learn to be patient.....(oh dear, what do they say about old dogs and new tricks !)
