Brechin took Saint Johnstone to a reply in the Scottish Cup Quarters last season. We should progress, but I fancy it'll be tighter than it would appear. It will allow us to rest Craigan, Lasley and Hammell at least, which given our thin squad is a real bonus. Regarding travel, I see the nearest train station is Croy. Thats just about spot on Croy is nearest station maybe not quite as much as 20 mins, if there was a few of you would be worth a cab , there is also a bus service which takes you to within a 5 minute walk from the stadium. What caused their freefall, was it money problems? Money issues and run-ins with NLC over rent payments for their stadium. There was also some skullduggery with their old board. To avoid administration they terminated all the first teams contracts in 2009. Jim Duffy took charge about February this year and is now putting his stamp on them. Trains every 1/2 hour from Queen st (Edinburgh express but only every other one stops at Croy) and they only take 10 minutes. If you're there early enough for a beer, Broadwood Farm's about the only pub in the vicinity but it is only 2 minutes from the stadium. Don't eat the grub though unless you're a big squirty bum fan. The stadium's easy to find if you're walking along the roadside (no pavement for half the trek). If you choose to stick to the footpaths, the chances are you'll be wandering round Cumbernauld for days. The town really was designed by fannies. Andy_P Posted August 3, 2011 Report Share Posted August 3, 2011 Bully fan in work suggesting some debate internally at Clyde as to whether to try to pitch the prices as a low as a tenner for adults - albeit anything has to be in agreement with MFC also. Seemingly before the draw there was some kind of committment that this is what they would charge for any home games in the competition - not anticipating they would be hosting an SPL side at home. He says their Commercial Manager is keen to go with that as it will help attract some locals as well as increase the visiting support. Others however more inclined to try to price a bit higher. He says as a club they are really just treading water until they can leave Cumbernauld. Budgets are cut to the bare bone with, he detects no real ambitions to do anything other than get a season closer to leaving Broadwood and perhaps sell on a player or two during the season along the way.
