Motherwell Vs St Mirren....

I thought we played reasonably well against the Midden at their place in December, but a combination of not making the most of numerous good chances, and giving away two poor goals right on half-time killed us.

And that type of games is what worries me about them - going back to MacPherson's time, they just seem to get the better of us, whether deserved or otherwise.

Would love to see another good performance and scoreline, but as long as we score one more than them, I'll take it

We do always struggle against them but i just have a feeling that with Concalves out and the fact they've nowt to play for really and we have EVERYTHING to play for and the fact we're due a win against them...3-1 to us. Bearing in mind im probably the WORST at tipping Motherwell games on this forum....

Tight game, Motherwell coming out on top, due to beat these guys, and today seems as good as any to do it!

Motherwell to concede as per norm, but 3.1 win predicted. Higdon,Law, Humphrey with the goals.

Thought we were the better team today, slightly, although we weren't quite firing on all cylinders. However, it was a tale of the return of the shaky defence again, nothing much could be done about the first goal but the second one was a bit of a shocker and there were a few other examples where we were a bit lucky to get away with it.

Randolph was excellent today although he didn't have too many direct shoots to deal with but the way he comes out and takes balls from players feet is superb. Someone like Graeme Smith would probably given away about three penalties in similar circumstances.

What can you say about McFadden. I don't think he was even on top form today and yet he's just a million miles ahead of everyone else.

I thought it would have been a travesty if hadn't got at least a point from the game.

They started the better of the teams but we could have had the three points in the bag by about half-past three if we'd had our shooting boots on. The Ojamaa one was particularly exasperating. Has he got some Estonian gypsy's curse on him or something? Seems like every other game he's six yards out perfectly placed to score and he trips over his feet, or lands on his arse.

Goal however was fully deserved when it came and once more we benefit from the supreme luxury for a football team of having a player on the field, who even when not perhaps having his greatest game, can almost routinely bag you a goal a game.

Frustratingly I felt we let it slip. Perhaps overly harsh on my part but I felt their first, scintillating strike though it was, was the culmination of several opportunities to properly clear our lines stretching back to a rather iffy kick-out from Randy.

Great start to the second half. Along the same lines to the Hibs game I felt but just not quite with the same intensity or obviously same degree of finishing. It didn't help the number of occasions Saints were getting deflections and last gasp blocks in.

It was a total boots in the chuckies to go 2-1 down but no real surprise given how often St Mirren have proven to awkward opposition for us in the past but great character and obviously a sensational goal to get us the point that was the least we deserved.

One of those games where you are chuffed to get a point given the timing of the equaliser but at the same time have a little bit of regret that we weren't able to take full advantage of other scores.

But when all's said and done. We remain eight ahead of fourth and three ahead of Caley with one game less for them to catch us up so its far from the worst outcome in the world.

Our midfield went to fuck after we scored and we gifted them an equalizer. Happy with the draw given the timing of their second!

ZFA looked solid today,Hutch was a collosus and Hateley was excellent. Lasley was utter shite though and 1 we must replace in the summer either by Carswell or a new recruit, just too many miles on the clock now for 30-40 games a season. He drifted in and out but when he goes, there's nothing better than seeing Faddy rip the pish out of defenders, time and again he ghosted past 2 or 3 defenders like they weren't there, and the goal gave me a rager even 5 viagra couldn't top!

1 major problem today was that so called Referee! Honestly a baffling performance, looked like he was just guessing decisions for both teams, pulled us up for taking a throw 3 yards further up the pitch but letting St Midden steal 8-15 yards every throw! And the most bizarre decision I think I have seen in all my life when he penalized Lasley for passing the ball as the St Midden player fell over trying to half him lol

The referee really did seem poor, and wasnt helped by his linesmen!

Not biased, just really bad, seemed to lack any confidence in his decisions, was indecisive and strangely picky about our throw ins! I've never seen 3 foul throws given since I was in the BBs!!

We played some excellent football today. Just frustrating that we didnt convert more of the chances we created. Faddy was a class apart again and his goal was a brammer. Should have won the game but just really glad we didnt lose it. That would have been an injustice.

Am I the only one who thinks ZFA is murder?

I think murder is a bit harsh but he definitely wasn't as solid as some people would have you believe today. I think he's a very good footballer, and is a great attacking threat (more than Hammell at least) but left us a bit exposed at times yesterday. Having him and Faddy (who was at times very slow in tracking back with Van Zanten) on the same wing was very risky and we were lucky not to be punished. The opening goal came from that right wing; as the rest of the defence came out to cover, Newton was suddenly free in case too much space and could fire in the shot that pulled them level.

I think ZFA is a brilliant player for us to have in the near future, and I think he is a better defender than most let on but at the moment he needs a bit of time to become the fullback we're after.

Like all our players ZFA has his limitations and weaknesses. If he didnt he would still be at Spurs. Thought he did fine yesterday and I think he will go on to be a very important player for us.
