Punt him and trust McCall to bring someone else in

oooohhh, negative reps??!!

£400k is a helluva lot of money to us particularly for someone we brought in for hee-haw, just what, 18months ago? Take the cash and use it wisely I say, or else we lose him for fuck all to a pre-contract in January.

If we are offered 400k then let him go (as long as McCall is free to spend the cash). 175k plus "add-ons" is much riskier.

If they have 400k to spend, let them give it to us up front.

Just seen on the euro thread that Lech Poznan are one of the seeded teams we could be up against - what's the chances of selling him and then drawing them.

If we sell him to them - 1 out of 29

If we don't sell him - 1 out of 29

we should offer him another contract on better terms and keep him here longer so we can demand more money for him if someone comes in!

our problem is we sell so cheap or let our players go for nothing! players with half his ability go for 3 or 4 times that kind of money easy across Europe

400k is nothing really if he is the difference between a few league spots, a cup game, a EL qualifying game! just look at his assist from last season, where would we be without him this season!

I thought a players salary and remaining time on contract were generally indicators of a players transfer value?

Obviously there's not a formula as such, but to say that a player contracted for another 50 weeks @ £2000 pw is worth more than 400k seems a stretch!

If we paid better wages or tied players up on longer contracts (I'm not suggesting we should) we possibly would command higher fees?

If we had another season of loss like last one, 400k would be the difference between admin and not.

The difference between 2nd and 3rd is only about 5% now down from 9% the season before last. (Can't be sure of exact figures, but I'm sure it's something in that ball park)

Regardless of the transfer fee, we are still down around 400k in terms of the team who finished 2nd before us. So I would be more than happy for him to move on at that value plus add ons BUT not at the 175k plus add ons. That would just mean the club are losing money and losing a talented player. We need to, at the very least break even from our transfers. So if Lech Poznan are wanting OJamaa they really need to raise their bid :)

As Estonian I really hope Henrik stays in Motherwell then goes to Poland where there's so many financial problems for several clubs. For example Polonia Warsaw didn't get top league license for the next season and were relegated to 2nd league (even tho they finished the season in 6th) cause they haven't payed any salary for their players since last year.

That's another reason I would want all 400k in the bank up front rather than any sketchy future add-ons.

We have this system in Scotland too. It's called Sevco.

In all seriousness. If the offer for Henrik is around the 400k number then I think Motherwell would find it very hard to turn that down.

Also a few people on here saying we don't get enough money selling in players. Anyone ever think about the fact maybe no one is buying or if they are the offers are shite. Motherwell have had offers for hutchy law randy Ojamma and Murphy and only accepted the later and he then knocked them back.

Clubs have sussed the Scottish market and know we have most if our players on short term contracts.

so ignoring this seasons one off?, 2nd place prize money carve up to help the other clubs finances

this is the reporting of the new propsals

from the society briefing on the original reconstruction doesnt seem that much different although no real numbers were given only overall amounts

note: the lower SFL clubs dont actually request all that much fuding, in fact nothing more from the SPL pot, but the somewhat faked good of the game line being fed seems more to be for the good of any of the SPL clubs who drop out for a a few seasons

now if only the top position in the whole sorry house of cards was to truly give up a fair portion of the prize money then everyone could sahre and get more than the stand off is asking for:

this is what i was looking at? isn't the change too 1717454 just a proposal?

Scottish football is really confusing, also funny that team 42 gets what the sfa get in pay rises

still, where would we have finished without those assists! know one knows but we do know he is a really big player for us and we could lose money by selling him for the 170k (+ rest we might never get)

700k difference from finishing where we budgeted to finish and where we did finish.
