Motherwell V Celtic 28/04/13

Back at the end of Feb, Lennon challenged his players to win their last 10 league games and they blew it in the first game when we beat them 2-1. Of the 7 they have played so far, they have won only 3 and that included a lucky 4-3 victory over Aberdeen. Since that day we beat them 2-1, we haven't lost a match, won 6 and drew 2 with 19 goals scored. We have played some very consistent football for most of the season and deservedly sit where we are in the league and the plaudits the team get, and player of the year nominee Higgy, are more then merited. Just wish we had another 7 or 8 games left rather than 3 as we are the form team at the moment and I would have fancied our chances of taking top spot in the SPL. As for Lennon, go wipe your eyes and stop acting like a spoilt brat. You don't deserve to win everything and accept that there have been better performances from players out with your own team.

Which means we will. There is far too much optimism on this thread, especially ahead of a game against Celtic, a side who are head and shoulders above us and the rest of the league. We only ever get a result against Celtic when the support least expects us, like the last time.

We will lose tomorrow, count on it.

It's utter lunacy to suggest that 2nd place is 'in the bag' considering we've got Celtic tomorrow then have to play Inverness away before two further tough games to end the season. It's still very much in the balance and I would say that there was as good a chance of us finishing 2nd as not finishing 2nd.

Do you actually ever use 'FORM' when forming a prediction? OR do you just spout shite?

Anyone know how much prize money we will get for 2nd place?

As announced by SPL a few months ago the estimates are

1. 17.0% (was 17% last year)

2. 10.5% (was 15% last year)

3. 9.5% ( was 9.5% last year)

4. 9.0% (up 0.5 % on last year )

5. 8.5% (up 0.5 % on last year )

6. 8.0% (up 0.5 % on last year )

7. 7.5% (up 0.5 % on last year )

8. 7.0% (up 0.5 % on last year )

9. 6.5% (up 0.5 % on last year )

10. 6.0% (up 0.5 % on last year )

11. 5.5% (up 0.5 % on last year )

12. 5.0% (up 0.5 % on last year )

1 £2,405,000 (-£315,000)

2 £1,718,000 (-£682,000)

3 £1,460,000 (-£60,000)

4 £1,289,000 (-£71,000)

5 £1,203,000 (-£77,000)

6 £1,117,000 (-£83,000)

7 £1,057,000 (-£63,000)

8 £1,005,000 (-£35,000)

9 £988,000 (+£28,000)

10 £902,000 (+£22,000)

11 £816,000 (+£16,000)

12 £730,000 (+£10,000)

Because of the change (BTW 'for one year only') second loses a right few bob but a couple of hundred thousand between 2/3 is none too shabby.

I hate to bring a downer on things but did anyone else notice that Izaguirre (I think) didn't go through the guard of honour? What a knob!

Didn't notice that but maybe he just headed for Humphrey's shadow as he knew that's where he would be spending the next 90 mins anyway laugh.gif

Totally amazing game of football. Cant remember the last time we ripped one of the OF apart like that. I know they had a good few chances because we played so open, but Id take that every week for sheer entertainment value.

Nice to see the Green Hordes totally ignore Faddy as he went off to a standing ovation from our fans. Hopefully that wont have been lost on "himself". No class.

Really looking forward to next week now. 1 point and its party time. 3 points and we have our best ever SPL points return. Higgys only 4 short of the 30 mark. A record breaking season is within our grasp.

Something like that :)

To be honest, all this chat about how much we'd "lose" for finishing second this year is a bit daft. We'd lose nothing because we never had it in the bank to start with, and we'll still be a lot better off than if we finish any lower.

I've no idea if this or true or even why it could be true but I was told from a Celtic supporting mate today that it was something to do with religion. I dont even know what religion he is or why that would make a difference to something like that, just passing on what I was told.

Noted that myself - if only he had come sooner...

Who got Man of the Match on Sky? That would be a *really* difficult pick

We could lose or last 4 games & still finish 2nd because the teams below us keep cutting each others throats. Obviously id like us to clinch 2nd on our own merits & preferably against Celtic but i think 2nd is already in the bag.

Oh ye of little faith :whistling:

The whole team's performance was so good i would say Randy was our worst player & that's coz he had hee haw to do for most of the game. How often do you get to say that about an old firm game?

Eh? Are you on crystal meth. Randy made about 3-4 world class saves!
