Pity this one wasn't announced first, reckon those booking up for Morecambe might see it as a step too far for another jaunt.

Aye, yer right there Matt. Of the 2, perhaps would have opted for Donny - although it does clash with TiTP. With the requirement to take a day-off work and the 7hr journey to/from Motherwell before and after the jaunt over the border ---- a Morecambe pub crawl will have to suffice.

Rumours that the hibs game against Nottingham forest was stopped for rioting

From the Scotsman:

Hibernian 1 - 2 Nottingham Forest: Supporters clash

Published on 07/07/2013 00:00

The final match of Hibernian’s preseason tour of southern Europe was last night overshadowed by violent clashes between supporters.

Fans of both sides made the trip to Portugal in their droves and, with an English/Scottish emnity evident, there was an ugly atmosphere inside the tiny ground.

Sectarian chanting was also clearly audible as supporters confronted each other at the makeshift metal barriers which split the main stand.

Heavy-handed attempts by baton-wielding local police to calm matters only exacerbated the situation and riot police quickly arrived. That lit the blue touch paper and, on 35 minutes, violence erupted. Forest fans pushed through the barriers, which were quickly used as weaponry, being thrown by supporters.

Riot police waded in mercilessly, with both sets of fans struck, including one elderly Hibs fan and a Forest supporter who was clearly bloodied.

Calm was restored before half time, with Forest fans penned into a small area of the main stand by police. Thankfully, there did not appear to be any serious injuries.

It turned events on the pitch into something of an afterthought.

In the 30-degree heat Hibs captain James McPake was drafted into the starting line-up after being rested for Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Gibraltar.

However, Kevin Thomson, whom the capital club are keen to sign on the club’s return to Edinburgh, was rested.

Ahead of the violence, Forest fans saw their side claim the lead after 26 minutes, with Dexter Blackstock firing a superb penalty kick into the roof of the net after being brought down by Lewis Stevenson.

The second half was played out in a rather eerie atmosphere, given the violent scenes before the break.

However, there were moments to rouse each set of fans. Firstly, Owain Tudur Jones netted his first goal since joining Hibs from Inverness, calmly slotting home after an incisive Danny Handling pass.

But the joy was fleeting as Billy Davies’ Championship outfit immediately regained the lead.

Striker Ishmael Miller had too much pace for the Hibs back-line and, when played through one-on-one with Ben Williams, managed to bundle the ball into the net to clinch victory.

Have a map of the route, difficult to guess time taken. A beer before the game would be nice but that beer time means the difference of leaving home at 6.30am and 8.45am. Time for a beer after the match.

Google maps let's you work out distance and time for walking between places. It reckons 1.4 miles/27 minutes (assuming it's Morecambe Station itself you are talking about).

Thanks Weeyin Google directions look like a mix of mostly walk way and streets when you get closer to the stadium. MorecambeFC website gives different direction thro town but there is only a couple of minutes in it either way.

Have often wondered why Motherwell don't play more pre-season games in the locale of the 'Shire ? Trips to Lanark, Carluke, Shotts, Forth, Stonehouse, Lesmahagow, and Whitburn, Fauldhouse, etc., would give the Club some much needed exposure in the outer reaches of our catchment area.

Aberdeen send teams to Buckie, Peterhead, Turriff, Banff, etc., while Caley head out to Forres and Nairn every pre-season. Keeps the remote fans sweet and spreads the message to potential newbies.

They need the use of their legs when the season kicks off.

Doncaster are doing that exact thing just now, wee tour of local non-league teams to kick off their preparations, do it every year I think. Frickley last Sat, Retford I think midweek.

Didn't one of the issues used to be that yellow/red cards and disciplinary points from playing local teams carried over into the season or something stupid like that?

I could be completely misremembering that.
