Carswell for me again.

 

Does all the hard graft and dirty work, but at the moment he is also looking like our most composed footballer.

 

First name on teamsheet for me at the moment.

Ramsden would have been my motm if he had stayed on the park - we'll miss him at St Mirren.

 

The powerful Carswell continues to impress, he gets my vote ahead of Lasley and Sutton.

Carswell was immense today. Broke up attacks, got in their faces, and also looked a real attacking threat. Great performance. Also thought Sutton had a great game, best I've seen of him since he came back, and in tough circumstances, with the ref giving him nothing. Great instinct for his goal, and unlucky not to get a second at one of our many penalty claims.

Two or three candidates stood out for me, all mentioned already.

 

Sutton. Big John Handsome might not score as many as Higdon did but his workrate, link up play and habit of scoring "strikers" goals means he's crucial. Give him service in the penalty box and he'll score. I make it two goals and an assist so far (but for a great Samson save today and the post against Krasnodar, could be talking four goals). Great game from the big man.

 

Carswell. I was worried when Lawson signed that once again he'd be stuck on the bench. No slight on Lawson, but I reckon Carswell, like Hollis, has waited for his chance. And he's taken it this season. On current form, one of the first names on the teamsheet.

 

But I'll go for Lasley. Was everywhere today. I'll admit to thinking that we might see him play less this season as the years caught up with him. Obviously it's early in the season but making me eat my words. In the last few minutes today, he was still charging down the right wing and winning a throw in. And that's before I mention the assist for the first goal...

Mentions to Hutch, Carsewell, Sutton and Anier. Ramsden up till his deserved sending off was having a really good game too.

Lasley was tremendous today, especially in the first half.

Didn't realise how good Hollis's saves were when at the ground, but he certainly ensured we got the 3 points at the death. But our midfield engine was outstanding today. Lasley and Carswell were immense and definitely between those two but just went for Lasley.

Hollis, Carswell, Hutch all made important contributions to the game, however I am going for the much maligned Big John Sutton as he never stopped his unique style of running all day. He capped it all with a fine goal as well.

I could have picked Anier, Keith or Ramsden (pre red card) but went for Carswell. Great to see him develop into a solid midfielder. I wonder if the signings of Vigurs and Lawson have spurred him on. Well played Stuart.

John Sutton for me, the big handsome bastard that he is! Won everything in the air, good link up play, didn't stop running and capped it all with the winner.

Surprised no one has mentioned Vigurs yet, thought he did very well. My vote goes to Carswell, who was absolutely fantastic. I'd be happy with that starting 11 every week. Thought Hammell looked a different player with Vigurs instead of Zaine in front of him.

Anier for me, the amount of chances he got, he was unlucky not to stick in a couple. Can see him being a bit of a player for us as the season goes on. Do we have the option to extend his loan?

Hollis for me 2 terrific saves. People are quick to crucify him if he doesn't play well but the outfield players are afforded the "they are still gelling" excuse. For me his save at the end won us the game.

Felt that Hutchy and Carswell were both fantastic yesterday, motm for me. 2 players whose jobs on the park often go unnoticed and they still managed to rise above most other players with their performances
