Motherwell Vs Stjarnan Fc

Poor stuff and flies in the face of what we've been fed about passport details et all in recent times. Suspected the opposition were hanging the pea over this and it looks highly likely. Giving them a chance in the 2nd leg won't have helped as the locals will turn up in keen support.

Where there's a will, there's a way... As the referendum hasn't taken place yet, the British consulate may become involved!

This Europa League is a definite fuck up

In the early stages all this last minute travel and ticketing arrangements with a mixture of minnows and 'regular' sized clubs who could be called at short notice to make long costly trips is just a clusterfuck.

It needs to be regionalised firstly.

Then, although clubs have the right to play if qualified they surely need to be able to host a small professional football game involving more than 1000 fans. On top of all that it's then important that the all seating rule is relaxed for stadia below a certain size with facilities regularly used for standing.

It was always a risk unfortunately but it's pretty breathtaking now it's come to pass

Let's hope a loophole is exploited or an 'oversight' inadvertently occurs that allows well fans to stand around the perimeter.

I hope we get through this tie now.

This is a risk we all took booking flights when we did, we knew the stadium capacity and what we would be entitled to. Alot of people on social media quick to criticize the club tonight. OK its late, but even if Stjarnan had brought the tickets over or whatever, it wouldnt have made much difference. 85 people are going to get tickets and the rest are going to miss out. Main thing is we are there and if we have 50 or 100 or more fans standing behind a fence behind the goal with a cerry oot then it might work in our favour!

If it was we'd probably be in the same region as them anyway.

Don't get why people would book their flights etc without being confident they would get a ticket.Everybody knew it was a small ground, we could have had less tickets if they'd stuck to the 5% rule.

They would book the flights on speculation, happens in all walks if life

When the club then gets almost 3 times the minimum required allocation of tickets allocated

I'm not sure how anyone can feel aggrieved , although I can fully understand frustration, at the arrangements not suiting some travel plans,

FWIW I don't think there will be 400 or even 300, somewhere around 200-250 at most is my Guess, hopefully something can be worked out for all to see the match

Just wondering what else that second half performance cost us in addition to having no fingernails left.

Not qualifying for the next round will mean losing out on some much needed cash. With that in mind, this game is probably one of the most important that we will play this season. Being paired against a semi-professional club should have meant easy money, however, in true Motherwell style we have made it harder than it should have been. Financially, failure is not an option.

Anyone know what UEFA pay out for a win and a draw in these preliminary stages?

I worked out we must have been close to £100k in gate revenue from last week. Just wondering what else that second half performance cost us in addition to having no fingernails left.

I suspect not much of that 100K actually goes into the clubs coffers after taxes and match day expenses.

The Europa League prize money pays out in round progressions/participation rather than individual results and is as follows...

First qualifying round: €120,000

Second qualifying round: €130,000

Third qualifying round: €140,000

Play-off round elimination: €150,000

Base fee for group stage: €1,300,000

Group match victory: €200,000

Group match draw: €100,000

Group winners: €400,000

Group runners-up: €200,000

Round of 32: €200,000

Round of 16: €350,000

Quarter-finals: €450,000

Semi-finals: €1,000,000

Losing finalist: €2,500,000

Winners: €5,000,000

Some good money still to be won (potentially €420,000 before the group stages even start!). The game on Thursday against Stjarnan is worth a cool €130,000 to the winner. No pressure Motherwell.

Have we not earned the €130,000 already due to participating in the 2nd round?
