No real stand outs tonight.

 

I voted for Hammell, had a solid enough come back and set up both goals, the ball to Ainsworth was worthy of the top level.

 

That ball really changed the game for me so my vote goes to him.

Hutchinson was absolutely solid, so going for him in a team where no one quite stood above the rest.

Despite there being no stand outs, everyone put a shift in. Special menshy (and vote) to Gunnar though. He did what was needed when called upon and, while he wasn't overly tested he pulled off some good saves. Given how low his confidence might be, I think he deserves massive credit for tonights confident and assured performance.

Gunnar Nielsen gets my vote for a good overall performance and two good saves (especially the second) prior to our 1st goal.

Hard one...ent for McManus as didn't put a foot wrong and sorted out a couple of sticky situations as well. Mentions though for Nielsen, Hammell, Lasley.

Never thought I'd say this but Gunnar had decent game. Few good saves and solid enough.

No outfield player was a stand out

Nielsen by a mile tonight. His best game so far, not that he had much to compare with.Solid, assured and only one instance when he didn't call for the ball leaving Hutch a bit in no mans land. Tonight's showing will hopefully do wonders for his and the defences confidence.Thought young Carswell did a proper shift tonight as well.

Vigurs is a touch of class.... His vision for a pass is a joy at times, the little dunk for Ainsworth so volley stood out or me.

 

In saying that thought my MOTM was Lasley. Gave it everything and was involved in a lot of dirty work.

Gunnar for me.Long periods with nothing to do but never switched off.Especially the snap volley at close range. Should boost the confidence if he gets a couple of games under him like that.

I never thought I would ever give Gunner my vote, but it has to be said that he had a very good game and was worthy of Man of Match award

Neilsen for me, he was never worked too hard but everything stuck to him, and good saves when required a good solid perfomance.

Gunnar for me, very assured and confident throughout and vital saves at crucial times.

Neilsen for me too. He made some great saves, came for the ball when required, and used his "hands". Finding it hard to vote for anyone else, as every time someone did something good, they almost always followed it up with a series of slack passes. Carswell put in a hell of a shift though, and made some crucial tackles, while Vigurs played some brilliant passes, and with a bit more movement from others around him late on, could perhaps have stretched the game further.

 

But, the goalie kept us in it early on, and an important clean sheet should really give his confidence a boost.

Nielsen did really well and it's the best I've seen him play but have given it to Hammell. Two good assists and a clean sheet in an all round solid performance.

While Nielson did well with regards to shot-stopping and taking crosses (he actually held a few real difficult ones), I thought his distribution was far from great. I went for Hammell for the two quality assists

Vigurs, although Neilson, Hammell, and Sutton also had very good games.

 

Ainsworth and McFadden both did some excellent stuff, but the full performances weren't as strong as the above.

I've been quick enough to critisise him in the past so credit where its due, big goonar had his best game for us last night. Promising performance and hope he keeps it up. Made some really good stops, to keep us two up and had they scored to go 2-1 anything could have happened. Collected a few crosses too. Couple dodgey kick outs but no danger so can live with that.

I have been voting Neilson everyweek for a laugh and did it again tonight to find out folk are seriously saying that was a MOTM performance?

It wasn't a MOTM performance, but it was the best performance (or least shite if you prefer!) that we've had out of a goalkeeper this season.
