Security Today

Quite a few security issues today eh? Prior to the match we drove into the almost full Knowetop School car park with ease. Despite what Police Scotland said beforehand we found no ticket cordon whatsoever. No steward at the car park entrance to check parking tickets.

Quite a few Rangers fans in the wings of the POD Stand. Now I suspect from previous experience that many of these would be complimentaries but I might be wrong. In that case they were there legitimately. However fans should report any seat numbers occupied by interlopers to the club to prevent the same culprits acting in the same fashion again. Potential flare throwers should also be reported. One or two at the south end behaved themselves but others left acrimoniously amid a barrage of catcalls and boos.

Our fans should not have invaded the pitch end of. They should certainly not have goaded the South Stand. The Police were far too slow to react to the events. That said, the Rangers fans pelted our fans with cans and even a ripped out seat - no Police reaction to that. Quite a few Rangers fans were also involved in nasty exchanges with stewards and the Hospitality boxes in the South Stand after the game ended. Again the Police were nowhere to be seen.

We were at the far end of the east right down the front. The stewards who were supposed to stop half the stand from invading the pitch were mostly young lassies who were drowned by there high vis jackets and looked terrified. A complete waste of time.

There should have been far more police there to stop it as it was always going to turn ugly IMO.

To be fair there didn't appear to be many arrests, inside the ground at least. There wasn't any serious trouble that I could see, just a few isolated incidents and a smallish pitch invasion with a few hundred fans winding a few hundred of them who were left up.

The police just aren't interested in doing anything other than collecting their extortionate tax payer provided OT.

Don't have much time for the polis anyway as on the four or five times I've dealt with them I've been treated like a criminal rather than a victim or a reporter of crime but the away match at Accies just a few weeks ago confirmed they are mostly just clowns, unable to stop any actual trouble, while acting the hard man and trying to intimidate ordinary supporters.....or just looking gleekit and pocketing the dough.

Since they are a complete waste of time they shouldn't get a penny of the clubs money and if there are public order issues, isn't that what they get paid for in the first place?

I think thats because the Police wanted to keep a low profile as they usually do at Rangers and Celtic games. Disorder in the South Stand could have resulted in a few arrests I reckon.

Regarding the potential 'riot' being discussed in the paper, the Police seemed to step in as and when required. They could have arguably done more to prevent fans going on the pitch but it was never really going to kick off.

Kudos to the club. Main stand apart when tickets were seemingly purchased prior to the game at Easter Road, the office staff done a remarkable job in keeping Rangers fans out the home end.

What exactly was going on? I couldn't work it out myself.

All the hospitality who were mainly rangers fans lost the plot once went two nil up and started kicking off with well fans. Nothing major, but could have been a lot worse if Motherwell officials didn't step in.

I can understand you wanting to talk it down but it could have easily turned nasty. Credit to the Rangers fans who stayed to the end for not coming on to the pitch. There was plenty of time before the police reacted for it to go pete tong.

You could see a large section of the main stand stand up and leave en mass as the second went in, lol.

The infiltrators in the east went unnoticed in the main, well apart from the guy who for some reason decided to bring his four daughters who were all dressed head to toe in blue, with blue and orange gazelles on. Sat right at the front of the Bois as well so was not at all surprised they asked to be escorted out after the first goal went in. Incognito is clearly a term lost on them.

Thankfully the quietest exit to an Old Firm match we've ever experienced - hardly a soul around when we left.

Surprised at the lack of Police cordon, perhaps a late decision taken on the basis of how few Rangers fans actually turned up - so much for the bravado of the last week and how they would have to be admitted because of the numbers who would travel.

Lessons can be learned, but the most important one is that with the correct ticketing arrangements in place, we can provide our team with an advantage at home. Well done the club.

Anyone aware of what happened with the young lad being treated by Ambulance staff for a head wound at the Cooper Stand exit?

The fans going on to the pitch at the end could have turned nasty if the orcs had reacted but thankfully it turned out OK. But the stewards on duty at fir park these days are feckin useless they have no idea of crowd control, the Rangers fans in the pod stood out a mile but the stewards done feck all. It was clearly printed on the tickets " this area for home fans only" but nothing was done.

What's the point of having the stewarding carried out by people who just seem to stand about taking no responsibility and replying " nothing to do with me" when asked about anything.

The stewarding really needs to be looked at every time there was an issue in the pod ( the ones I could see from my seat ) the stewards were feckin useless, and it needed police intervention every time to sort it.

Agree about the stewards doing fuck all in the pod, pretty much the whole of row aa (very back row) was Rangers fans apart from the 4 of us at the end and it must have been even more obvious when we scored but the stewards who could clearly see them did fa and what about the guy about 5 rows from the back shouting for every decision going mental when Miller didn't get the pen.Having said that the claims by Rangers that they'd outnumber us were clearly false, they had maybe 400-500 in the pod and another 200 or so in the cooper.

What end? I was right up there in AA too, seat 11. There were 4 'Well fans behind me having the time of their lives, wondering if it was you.
