I have a lot of time for the guy and in my opinion Motherwell are lucky to have him. Long may he reign.

Seconded. I've known him for many years and he's Motherwell through and through. Whats more important though is his enthusiasm for the job, his willingness to put in long hours and his professionalism.

The last time I spoke to him he was standing behind the goal at the ladies cup final v Rangers shooting pictures for the online match report. How many GM’s do you think would take on the job of a sports photographer when the usual guy wasn’t available? The guy goes above and beyond for the cause.

If he was a faceless man in a suit that used to be a bank manager, we'd barely know his name.

I think it's a bit of "ah kent his faither" from the folk who constantly point the finger at him.

He's a good guy, well respected by all accounts and has worked very hard to get where he is.

All I know about Alan was when I took some supporters of other teams (and none) to the first Aberdeen game at the start of the season and we were sat with an Aberdeen director and his wife for grub and the lad in the hospitality pointed him out and said "that guy would shed blood for this team". The Aberdeen director said "I know".

Enough said for me.

This is no slight on the job he's doing but if he wasn't a fan he wouldn't be doing the job as he wouldn't have had the qualifications or experience to apply. How he's done since he got the job is up for debate.

And you know this because........?????

I mean, have you seen the blokes CV, or were you on the interview panel? Seen the job description and list of other applicants?

Or have you just made a desperate leap of assumption based upon your own ignorance?

Don't know him personally and have had no dealings with him, but, from what others have said on here he seems to be a good guy doing a decent job so what's not to admire about that? Maybe he got lucky landing the original media role with the club, but having made a success if that he has had the guts to step up to the next level. He had a tough task as we lost a lot of experience when Dempster left and seems to have grown into the job. As for being qualified for the job in the first place, it seems to me that it would be a very specialised role so hanging on for someone who ticked all the boxes could have been a lengthy and ultimately fruitless search. Yes, it may have been a gamble for both employer and employee but it seems to be working out. Good luck to him.

Is it up for debate though?

The only time the guys name gets mentioned on here is when we get beat.

This thread has been pretty positive, I like that. I have known 'Flow for years. Good guy.

And he answers questions like "whats mark McGhee's favourite dinosaur?"

What a guy.

(it's a t-rex)

I need a sound clip. My message tone of "Oh Stegosaurus" is a bit dated now!

How he has done can't possibly be up for debate, because we don't have the slightest clue what he does. (As it should be in my opinion).
