2016/17 Ins & Outs

Recommended Posts

Figured it's time for a new thread.

To address the points made regarding Lasley, Hammell & McManus in the old thread, why would we want to just punt them? If all three are happy to sign the deals offered, and if both Hammell and Lasley understand that they're not going to be first choice picks every week then what's the problem?

We're looking to bring youth into the equation, and having those experienced heads on the park sometimes and also in the dressing room will be vital to making that plan work.

To free up wages to get someone younger in??

You cut out the second part of my point there, which kind of addresses why we should keep those two players in particular.

Isn't the general idea to try and bring through our own youth? To do that we'd be better keeping the experienced heads in certain positions (especially if they're still doing a job, and Lasley especially is still doing a job) to help bring the younger guys along, wouldn't we?

If we ditch Lasley and Hammell at the end of the season it's only going to leave two large holes in our side that we may not be able to fill adequately from elsewhere.

Both guys are still good enough to provide something in my opinion, even if they aren't playing every game these days.

The Lasley and Craigan partnership in the U20s will hopefully provide us with a future manager/management team.

On that basis lasley at least is good for another deal.

I actually think Samson isn't too bad an option and don't get the hate.

He's as experienced SPL/Premiership keeper and was in Scotland squads at one point.

The fact he had nothing to do yet still pulled off a great save 70 mins in and caught everything he came for I would play till end of season and see how he goes as we are on a tight budget and would have no problem going forward with him and concentrating on out midfield with signings

Yes he seems a really good prospect young Hall. Hope he gets put on a long term contract.

Thought Ben Hall strolled through the game today.

He is definitely out of contract aye?

I am hoping that with top 6 secured we can get him signed up sharpish.

Yes. And he's knocked back more than one offer from us.

We'll get some money for him though.

How do you know that? Inside source?

I've heard it spoke about for a few weeks about Hall not re-signing, apparently his agent holding to get him a move elsewhere. Personally for his development he would be far better off staying here.

Amazing played about a dozen games just turned 19 and an agent trying to get him a move what has the world come to he's a mile off being the finished article

I hope Hall stays but I bet if you looked at Louis Laing's wage slip and Ben Hall's there would be a pretty big gulf there even though Hall has shown himself to be a much better player this season.

Wonder who else is in for Hall then, I presumed Rangers was nothing more than a lazy rumour.

Given the unexpected opportunity McGhee presented to him and the NI connection you'd think he'd be happy here.

If he left, we'd be due a 6 figure sum eh?

I can't remember if it was on here, P&B or somewhere else but I'm sure I read Hibs were in for Hall.

Hopefully not an Alan Martin mark II.

If he goes, he goes. Would be nice if we could have kept him for another season or two and sold him on for a decent fee, but like Erwin before him, we'll cope just fine.

If there is a development fee to be had would that be split with his Irish team?

Not quite the same thing I dont think think. He moved from a semi pro team to us at the age of 15/16.
