Reserves/Under 20's/Youths

Will be interesting to see how many if any of our under 20s make the Toulon tournament that Scotland have entered at the end of the season . As current under 20 cup holders and current quarter finalists as well as currently being 2nd in league you would expect a few but being Scotland we will probably have none.

There had to be a national media campaign to get Cadden noticed by the dipshits that run the U21s so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Entire SFA set up is a complete joke full of absolute incompetents.

There's no way they are going to select a bunch of 17 year olds for the u20 squad

Possibly not but that said, the likes of McMillan, MacLean and Cadden would all be eligible so could see them possibly selected.

Cadden should be there if he's eligible, don't think anyone else has any chance whatsoever

Don't know about the ins and outs of the eligibility of this squad, but Cadden isn't actually eligible to play with our under 20s. Players born 1997 or later this year. When Thomas and Ferguson feature for the 20s, they do so as part of the five allowed overage players.

Quote from Stewart Regan "And what of Motherwell, who have criticised the plans as threatening their very existence?

'They have the same opportunity as every other club to put themselves forward as one of the leading academies in Scotland.

'There's no reason why Motherwell cannot put in a bid and we would encourage them to do that."

Sidestepping the question Stewart?

So...If this did get the go ahead and 8 academies are chosen. Is that it a closed shop? Or could one drop out/be replaced etc ?

This is a good point that was made at the club AGM. In theory it wouldn't be a closed shop but.....who decides the qualifying criteria? The committee of overseeing clubs, who have vested interests?

Just incase anyone missed the other thread. We had a chat with Alan Burrows yesterday on the latest MFC Podcast about project Brave and all the potential issues it brings.

Great turnaround from the boys in the 1st half. Hopefully we can kick on

Other ties in the youth cup to keep an eye on today:

Ayr v Killie - 1.30pm KO

Rangers v Falkirk - 3pm KO

Hibs v Celtic the other tie was postponed

Forget about the Elite Eight. We have proved again that at a minimum we should be a part of the Fantastic Four (or Fabulous Four if we are looking to be more inclusive).

Enjoyable game. Thistle caught us cold with their 2 goals, their 1st was an absolute shitemare for our keeper. Cracking effort to turn it round though. MacLean going off threw the side in the 2nd half, pretty much gave Thistle the midfield. Fair play to Craigan for having the baws to change things round when he realised his initial change wasn't working.

Fully deserved to go through in the end. Decent performance from Thistle to get it back to 3-3 as at half time it looked like their head had gone after chucking a 2 goal lead.

No idea why teams seem to do what they like in this Hibs v Celtic postponed today as Hibs requested it seems to happen a lot at this level surely should be made to play at a given time not when it suits them. No idea if Hibs maybe played some under 20s yesterday or not but dosnt seem right to cancel a game when no weather or pitch problems .
