AndyRoss Posted February 18, 2017 Report Share Posted February 18, 2017 McFadden is clearly still learning the ropes, appointing him as assistant may be one of those decisions that we have come to regret, but I don't think there's any harm in bringing someone else in to assist particularly when times are tough. As a few have already said, would imagine Faddy will be judged at the end of the season on his performance over the course of the last year. Surely the cost/uncertainty of sacking the manager at this point in the campaign is more than bringing an experienced coach back to the club to help hopefully guide us to safety. It's not a Les Hutchison type scenario where we threw money at players with very little direction. Not referring to yourself personally but people have been screaming out for change and when that happens they still are annoyed - it's quite confusing. Looking at Oldham's league results, while it's clear it didn't work out for him there, in his 24 games they kept 7 clean sheets and there were 8 matches where they only conceded 1. It seems fair to say that, if nothing else, Robinson knows how to set a side up defensively. After the utter shellacking on Wednesday and tbf what seems an overall decline in our general defensive performances this season since he left it's surely a step in the right direction. Rather than go full knee-jerk after the 7-2 and with things balanced as they are in the league IMO it seems a sensible move for the club to have acknowledged that there's an issue and look to address it with a solution that isn't going to create disruption and uncertainty. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There's no point in firing a manager at this point in the season. By all accounts Robinson is a good coach and tactician who knows the club and many of the players. By comparison Faddy is very inexperienced and still learning. His presence will also help when MM is away on international duty. He can contribute a lot between now and May. In short a good move.
