We have been really unfortunate with the cup draws in recent times. Very few home draws to speak of in the knock out phases in recent years. I can't remember the last time we drew a non premiership team either.  Morton knocked us out of the league cup a few seasons back. Have we had a lower division side since then?

Ayr Utd at home would have been perfect. Rangers have that. They have been fairly fortunate with cup draws over the last few seasons by comparison.

The fact that the draw has been so unkind in recent years makes last years cup success all the more impressive. If we could beat Hearts at Tynecastle , I think the term cup specialists would be more than justified.  A tough tie but winnable.

Hey ho, let’s be honest bar Ayr who are on top form anyway they were all tough draws. As you say winnable if we are on top form but obviously Hearts go into the game heavy favourites.

3 home, 5  away since the start of last season. Can't complain about that.

3 out of 10 if you allow recent times to include Season 16/17. The two ties that season were away at Parkhead and Ibrox.

10 consecutive ties against premiership opposition with only 3 at home represents a fairly tough set of draws unless it doesn't suit you to look at it that way. ☺

I think this is a tough tie but a good one. With Berra out and lafferty probably away I don’t think we should be going into this with any fear.

hearts won’t be jumping with joy having to play us. We dumped them out the cup last year and I predict the same this year!!

So you're predicting we face Lafferty in our semi against Rangers?

We've only really got ourselves to blame for that. We should have won the LC group and won at Ibrox. Then we would had more chances for a decent draw.

FFS the usual suspects are getting the doom and gloom pish in early, just for once try talking up our own abilities rather than all the negative shite about how good Hearts are, any team managed by Levein is suspect irrespective of how good their current form is, they are beatable.

Irony

ps looking at the Motherwell side of the game, trust you’ll remain as confident when you realise Sammon will likely be club tied

Can't speak for spiderpig, and i might be in the minority but my confidence is not dented because Sammon is unavailable.

Always confident and as for Sammon I have never rated him, I think he is brutal so if that means we have Johnson and Main up top, then that's a bonus.

I doubt Sammon would start anyway, Main , Johnson the front two from now on. His first challenge on Saturday, the ball is in the air, he takes a quick look at the players and barges into him just before the ball arrives. He does the same thing every bloody challenge.

Agreed, if anyone is to have a chance of winning this cup Celtic will need to be gone before the final. We were very unfortunate last season, that we met them in both finals.

For that reason, I’d have been quite happy with Celtic at Fir park.

A midweek tie under the lights at fir park...

Rather that than play them at Hampden again! Don’t think they’d fancy a trip to for park or tynecastle, we’re due something from them at our place!

Hope they give him until the 1st September then we won't have too listen to how we're renewing our interest in him....

He has definitely parted company with Livingston, very strange indeed. Wouldn't think it was due to us defeating them, but I am sure it would be not enough funds for him, especially if only just over 500 fans turned up yesterday.
