Would love to see a fully fit dunne of the 17/18 season play for us again. Sadly I don't see that happening after the length of time he's been out. I hope I'm wrong.

When did he last play for us out of interest? Must be well over a year - year and a half?

Last game was 24th August 2019. 19th months ago.

He had his operation in September 2019 - I can't recall if there's been further setbacks, or what the current position is now.

There's an article from the start of February saying he'd recently returned to light training and was expected to be available before the end of the season. No idea how accurate that was/is. Still TBC on official site.

I really liked Charles and by all accounts he is a great guy but if you cast your mind back to when he joined the club he had his injury issues before arriving, the club went to the extent to announce his signing in principle but only if he could prove he was fit during pre season I think it took about three or four weeks before he actually signed on the dotted line. Apart from the 17/18 season he has sadly struggled with various injuries, the club has done the right thing by retaining him and helping him get back to fitness while other clubs in the league have previous for releasing players in a similar situation. It's nice to see pictures of him in training but I doubt we will ever see him play for the side again.

How long has Charles Dunn left on his contract? He has put a shift in for us in the past so it is a shame to see him rotting away due to injury, but just shows how fragile a career it is. That said as a club we cannot justify him on the books indefinitely, 19 months without a game is a long time, injury or no injury, so a decision is going to have to be made.

Surely he has retrained as a taxi driver

I like Dunne but he has barely been fit the entire time he has been here and had a fairly poor injury record before he arrived. Unfortunately I just dont think he is a guy we can take any more risk on. I think we have done the right thing by keeping him on the payroll until he can get himself sorted, but that generosity has to run out at some point.

Cole is a no brainer to keep if he isnt already thinking he can do better....

Do we think he was sent to the same Harley Street specialist that Turnbull was?

By all accounts he's a nice guy, comes out with sentences only decipherable to a Love Island watcher.  As a player he was OK, he didn't set the heather alight (if I recall he was sent off twice in his first few games) but did improve.  Reading the other comments it seems he impressed them more than he did me. If he does go, the only people really happy about it I suspect would be his neighbours in Larkhall.

Motherwell at its core is a commercial business and therefore you have to make hard decisions. I think if we pulled the plug he would be probably thinking "I thought it would have happened way before now". Sometimes you just have to accept you're made of glass.

Cole is putting in decent numbers despite playing in an inconsistent team. I'd say his stock will have risen due to his second spell here, enough to get a move to a decent League 1 team with a better budget than we can afford.

Dunne is OK when he can use his size but he's absolutely rotten against anyone with a modicum of skill or technique.  The absolute dismantling Mickey Johnson gave him at Celtic Park is one of the most embarrassing things I've seen happen to a Motherwell player.  Basically he's not good enough unless you want to be rumbling around the relegation zone and that's not even taking into consideration his injury problems.  We'd be mad to give him a contract.

Cole has done pretty decent this season and has a good overall record.  Since Watt basically can't score I do think we need someone else with goals in them.  I'd keep Cole but we can't depend on him.  He's probably not a 15 - 20 goals per season kind of guy.  We need more firepower.   Cole should be part of the equation but we need another part.
