MJC_mkII 204 Report post Posted July 24 Last 16 draw coming up shortly. We are seeded so that means we will avoid the Old Firm, Hearts, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd at this stage. We have never drawn a non top flight side in the knockout stages this competition since the format changed in 2016. Kilmarnock or Livingston are the two possible top flight options for us here, but we could potentially get QoS, Dundee or Falkirk which would also be tough. Well Well 355 Report post Posted July 24 Inverness at home - Thats us out...even if it had been Queen of the South they would have gubbed us as well. 2
MJC_mkII 204 Report post Posted July 24 Well it’s good to get a home draw but that is by no means a gimmie. ICT have of course been a bit of a bogey side for us in Cup competitions over the years and this will be another tough tie for us. Tie to be played either Tuesday 30th or Wednesday 31st of August. ZT_1886 17 Report post Posted July 24 Annan at home would’ve been the only tie I’d genuinely feel confident going into. Inverness at home, meh.

I wouldnt necessarily say we are out but every one of the teams left is capable of putting us out.

grizzlyg 700 Report post Posted July 24 Happy with that draw, it's a home tie. Let's deal with Sligo first.. COYW
fizoxy 632 Report post Posted July 24 Not sure if a home draw is a good thing if we keep going the way we are, but on paper it's a decent draw, and not a premier team for a change.Who knows what will happen between now and then, maybe we will have a striker. weeyin 4,189 Report post Posted July 24 There aren't many "easy" ties in the last 16 of the League Cup. Best you can hope for is a home tie against lower league (but always decent by this stage) teams.
GazzyB 1,338 Report post Posted July 24 Given there are a few premier league teams knocked out and a couple of all Premiership ties in this round, if we can beat Caley Thistle here we can maybe go on a reasonable cup run. Win one game and you’re in the quarters, not sure if I like that, even if it is to our benefit this season.

On the day of the game I watch them doing their little warm up and I get a little hope until 5 minutes into the game and realise its the same old shit over and over again. A two year old can read our game play or just watch any game from last season.
twistandshout1983 48 Report post Posted July 24 Quite happy with this draw, but no doubting this is going to be a very tough game
pretzel 48 Report post Posted July 24 Delighted with getting the home tie and a side we don't play often these days, but no doubt it will be a tough task as we have been beaten previously on numerous occasions to a Championship Inverness.

joewarkfanclub 927 Report post Posted July 24 ICT will be no pushovers, but thats about as decent a draw as you can get. Hopefully we can get up to speed before we have to play them.

What St.Johnstone, Hibs and St.Mirren did or didn’t do in the group stages is irrelevant and certainly can’t be used as some kind of excuse should we whimper out against a lower league side. Funnily enough, what they do is very relevant if it's something successful that some of our fans can point at when they're arguing how crap we are.
