Lets just keep winning/playing one game at a time but if I was Dundee Utd or Aberdeen fan I would get ready for some shitting in their pants. The top six battle has now moved from Motherwell or Hibernian missing out to Motherwell or Hibernian or Aberdeen or Dundee Utd missing out.

What's the script with Europe? I know there is a full thread on this but I canny be bothered trawling through it. Does 4th get into Europe only if Aberdeen get to the Scottish Cup final and finish 3rd in the league?

That's all inconsequential if we finish 3rd of course.

Rugby Park hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us in recent times (not like the 90's when, a bit like Inverness away these days, it felt like it was almost an away banker) and we've got the added albatross of Setanta Sports with our one win in four years record.

Ach well, as yesterday with the Manager of the Month curse proved, things like that are made to be broken.

3 points next week would be huge - if you can manage it, get along to Rugby Park and support the boys!

You'll get 3 points off us.

You not heard about our live TV curse?!!!

Would be nice to break it next week though, and if we do then you guys could be in real trouble, especially if Falkirk beat ICT.

Although we always seem to say this - the next two games are HUGE. Two wins and I think we will end up in the top 6 with the top 4 a distinct possibility. Especially when you consider that at least two, possibly 3 or even all 4 of our rivals could drop points next week.

I don't want to be the harbinger of doom but when you conside that killie have not won a game in 2009 and we have only lost one - an away win should be a banker - yeah right......supporting Motherwell for over 30 years has taught me that with match sequences like that a home win is more likely.

C'mon the Well - break the TV curse - pleeease

There's no doubt that the two home games are winnable, as is the Killie away game - feel pretty much the same about the Blue bigots at Castle Greyskull, although experience tells us anything from the game is a bonus.

Immediate worry is Killie - they're toiling something awful, game on setanta etc

More than one curse to be broken in this game methinks

Next couple of games are going to make or break us in terms off finishing fourth.

We need to win against Kilmarnock since Aberdeen play Hibs and one or both of them will drop points. Dundee Utd have a tough home match against Celtic the same weekend and Hearts have Rangers so we could gain points on them as well.

Then the next game is at home to Aberdeen, if we could beat them, Dundee Utd and Hibernian are playing each other so again one or both will drop points.

6 points in the next two games would probably put us in a really strong position, the question is can we actually get them!

Motherwell Games

Too close to call. Hibs have two big games next. Two draws would be nice.

What do you reckon 6 points see us there?

Kilmarnock haven't won since 27th December, 11 league matches ago. They haven't won at home since 15th November, 9 home league matches.

However, they have beaten us home and away this season!

Last Five League Matches at Rugby Park

18/10/08 (L) Kilmarnock 1 Motherwell 0

24/11/07 (W) Kilmarnock 0 Motherwell 1 (O'Donnell)

23/12/06 (W) Kilmarnock 0 Motherwell 2 (Foran, Paterson)

08/02/06 (L) Kilmarnock 2 Motherwell 0

13/08/05 (L) Kilmarnock 4 Motherwell 1 (Clarkson)

just looked at the fixtures and done a guess on how I think the results will go then added up the points.

Here are my thoughts on how i think the results will go...

21st march

Hibs v Dons - Draw

Kille v Well - Well Win

Gers v Hearts - Gers win

22nd March

UTD v Celt - Celt win

4th April

UTD v Hibs - Hibs Win

Hearts v Killie - Hearts win

Well v Dons - Draw

11th April

Dons V ICT - Dons win

Hamilton V Utd - Utd Win

Hearts v Celt - Celt win

13th April

buddies v hibs - hibs win

18th April

Celt V dons - Celt win

UTD v Killie - UTD win

Bairns V Hearts - Hearts win

Well V Buddies - Well win

19th April

Hibs v Gers - Gers win

Now if all that happens, that would mean that the teams would be like this...

3rd - Hearts -54

4th - UTD - 49

5th - Dons - 48

6th - Well/Hibs - 46 - would need to look at goal difference.

Motherwell - Killie (A) Aberdeen (H) Rangers (A) St Mirren (H)

Dundee Utd - Celtic (H) Hibs (H) Hamilton (A) Killie (H)

Hibs - Aberdeen (H) Dundee Utd (A) St Mirren (A) Rangers (H)

Aberdeen - Hibs (A) Motherwell (A) ICT (H) Celtic (A)

Hibs for me too.

I think we are good for 9pts there - at least 7!

Dundee Utd and Aberdeen would be a fair bet to take 6pts, but just don't see hibs winning any more than one of their games against St.Mirren.

That said - its hard to predict as there is a huge chance of twist and turns.

If we get 9pts - we will have the upper hand in the battle for 4th.

From those games I would think...

Well - 7pts

Utd - 7pts

Hibs - 5pts

Sheep - 5pts

That would mean Hibs drop out.

But it is so tight. 2 of our 4 games are live TV games and that makes me nervous. Plus I've factored in draws between Utd Hibs and Sheep Hibs so 1 goal either way and it'll be all change.

Despite all the stuff in the media about 'unrest' at Hibs and Paatelainen being useless Hibs recent form isn't bad at all.

They have only lost two league games in 2009, one away to Celtic.

Dundee United are actually the team that are falling away a bit. Four defeats in 2009.

Could go right down to the wire. With the last game having a 12.30pm kick-off then we could be watching with anticipation whether we have a achived a top six place or not. Own opinion would be for Hibs to drop out really tough fixtures coming up. Probably going to be more twists and turns.
