Motherwell today learned that 1952 Cup winning Captain Willie Kilmarnock has sadly passed away at home on Sunday night (7th June) aged 87.

The news comes not too long after the death of former 'Well players Geordie Lindsay and Charlie Cox.

A sad day for all at 'Well - Official site will carry a wee something on all three men later in the afternoon!

No funeral arrangements have yet been confirmed.

Watch highlights of that famous day in 1952:

RIP Willie!

The first Motherwell captain to lift the Scottish Cup and an integral member of one of our most famous back lines.

A legend.

RIP Willie.
