League Re-construction?

Thing is back in those days there wasn't the access to football that there is now. Nowadays, a casual football fan will get their fix from turning on the telly any day of the week, more often than not seeing the "best" teams in the world.

There isn't any need to go along to your local club on a Saturday in order to see your weekly game of football unless you're a hardcore supporter. This is the main reason attendances are down, and league reconstruction or a sectional mickey mouse tournament aren't going to change this. Like I've already said, teams today are operating in a different world.

Agree with most of this but there is always a potential to encourage more supporters through the gates. A more competive league might encourage a better TV deal which could even encourage clubs to introduce lower ticket prices. Sounds ridiculous but it has happened in other countries! And introduce safe standing areas too.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thought yeterday's crowd at Inverness was poor until I saw the figures for St Johnstone, Hamilton, Falkirk and Dundee.

Looks like the Scottish public is getting less enamoured by the annual competition to finish third in Scotland.

Meanwhile the football authorities are willing to do nothing about it fearful of upsetting the bigot brothers.
