The official site has PJ listed as number 23.  They still have Cole Starrs listed, right enough, so maybe that isn't as definitive as it should be.

On the other side of that, once Dunne had resigned they very quickly moved him back to 18 and Jordan White to 9. They’ve not updated the reserves page properly as I don’t believe there’s been an official announcement yet

Surprised if we'd offered a 3 year deal. But £50k transfer fee is what I heard we had agreed a couple months ago.

To be honest I feel like O’Hara is exactly the type and level of player that Robinson would offer a 3 year deal to. If we have the finances (which it seems like we don’t have at the minute) it seems a very good agreement that would give us a solid midfield option when we know we aren’t keeping all of Turnbull, Campbell, Polworth and Donnelly over the next couple of seasons.

Someone mentioned on here the other day about Marcus Fraser and on twitter there seems to be a possible hint with a County fan I presume saying he’s coming to us, also Tony Watt retweeted it (ex Celtic team mates). Ross County fans seem gutted to lose him, I haven’t really seen him stand out against us but I’ll stand to be corrected and await judgement until I see him play for us.

Where are you getting that from? Taking a glance at things like their P&B page, they largely seem to think it’s the right decision to let him go, saying he was good a few years back but has drifted through the last couple of seasons and looked shot of confidence. Not a whole lot, if any, saying that it’s a poor decision to let him go. Not really bothered either way about Fraser as I don’t know a whole lot about him, but find this claim that he’ll definitely be missed as rather disingenuous.

I see MFC web site have removed Gillespie, Hartley and Tait from the squad, but I still see Long still there, so here is hoping that he will sign a new deal and remain with us!!!

You’ll find all the players that were offered extended terms have remained on the site until a decision is made. The ones that have been removed are the ones that have obviously rejected or not been offered new deals, and have definitely left the club.

I don’t know if this is the right thread but has there been any mention of why hylton isn’t away with the squad

It’s nothing sinister. Apparently he’s just unwell and therefore unfit to travel. Burrows confirmed as much on twitter in addition to reassuring the worriers that business is ongoing in terms of transfers and renewals.

To clarify my point I have no problem with the signing and will give the boy every chance to shine and hopefully he will turn out good . My point was about Robbo saying he was not signing any more squad players as had to be a starter if any new signings , and obviously we all agree Manzinga does not seem to fit into that definite starter mode at the moment . He may turn out to be another Kipre and just needs a platform to perform and maybe will do very well but definitely looks line another squad player  currently though could become a regular starter in time . I think Robbo was definitely not meaning him when he made this comment and we possibly might have another striker in mind to come in .Time will tell

More than anything, I think this is just circumstances changing a bit. With Johnson away, we appear to have picked up a low cost forward option who seems to be better suited to how we play while still keeping space and money for the “starter,” that was mentioned.

  7. Currently thinking that we’ll see Hartley, Carson and Maguire all start on Friday, as well as Seedorf and Hylton. Robinson mentioned post match that the wingers needed to build up fitness so think they’ll be sticks ons. Would imagine Polworth would come straight into the side as well, most likely replacing Semple. The rest is all a bit harder to guess so it’ll be interesting to see who we go with. Admittedly I’d like to see Sloth, if he’s fit of course.

    Think we will see...

    Carson

    Tait Gallagher Dunne Carroll

    Campbell Sloth

    Cole Polworth Hylton

    Long

Polworth is suspended for this one. Think you’re mostly right with your selection, although I suspect we’ll see Gillespie in goal and Hartley in instead of Dunne. Also think Donnelly will play holding with Sloth and Campbell slightly ahead of him.

We've got four first team strikers in the squad.

Despite this, you could still reasonably assume we might be interested in loaning out Scott and maybe trying to move Johnson on. The two we’ve recruited so far in Long and Cole have also had their versatility talked up very much in the regard that they can both play wide. Taking all this into account, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us bring in a target man type, or classic #9.

So with flow stating that the trialist isn’t who we think it is (benteke) where did this name come from in the first place?

Super(ITK)Marv was claiming responsibility for this one

Unless the installments are £2.5 million now and £2.5 million in January, I agree.

If they want to play silly buggers we should be charging them a premium for a player who has had zero injury issues since he was 8 years old.

Some social media rubbish getting chucked about that Celtic have offered a “£750k take it or leave it deal” with mixed add ons. If that’s anywhere close to true fly the boy to Belfast tomorrow.

  12. No chance Campbell is getting dropped. He’s the only midfielder we have currently with proper defensive ability. Turnbull, Tanner, Polworth and Sloth all seem much more attacking and Donnelly really hasn’t played much in midfield yet. So as it stands, it genuinely looks like Campbell is crucial to a balanced midfield.

  13. Gorrin’s timing of his tackling and composure on the ball seems to get better every time he plays, a really important player for us over the past few games and hope he gets a new contract. He didn’t give them a moments peace today, constantly applying pressure on their midfield and getting us going forward again quickly. Really enjoyed watching him today and if it wasn’t for the fact he was taken off relatively early, I think he would’ve been my pick.

Campbell was also great in the middle today, winning the ball back and offering an option at times in the final third too. It’s lovely seeing him get back to his best as he’s a thouroughly enjoyable player to watch when he’s in that kind of form. It’s amazing to think that Hastie had a relatively quiet game today, despite the fact he added another to his goal tally. Maybe it was more to do with the fact Ariyibi was so effective today that Hastie was used less, however any time he was on the ball, he still looked like doing something positive. Another decent performance from him.

Main was a hell of a lot better today as well. The knock on that led to the first goal was brilliant however he missed a great opportunity to score early in the second half to really put the game out of sight. All round play much improved from the killie game, however he really needs to start scoring or chipping in with assists to be properly effective.

Ariyibi was simply wonderful to watch in that first half, and still had flashes in the second although like Main, wasted a couple of opportunities to score and out the game really out of sight. If he adds some more end product do his tricky dribbling he could make a real success of himself with Forest. Terrorising Gordon today as well as most of that Accies back four really put him in contention for MotM, although that’s only to be expected if you get an assist in addition to winning a penalty.

Aldred was a complete wall, Tait and Grimshaw looked really comfortable for the vast majority of the game and Dunne was decent. A good overall display from the defensive line meant Gillespie had very little to do aside from take a couple of goal kicks. Wish I could say more about the defence, however they just didn’t have that much to do against a poor accies forward line.

Turnbull stole the show today though. Getting two goals and an assist would normally automatically mean he’d get the MotM but the fact his overall game was so good today makes it a relatively straightforward choice in the end. His composure on the ball is something we’ve lacked for a good few seasons really, and the fact he’s starting to improve the defensive side of the game and improving his work rate means we could really have a special talent on our hands.

Main contenders would have been Gillespie who made a couple of good saves, Aldred who's been a rock recently in defence and Gorrin.

I'm giving it to Gorrin though.

Completely agree with this, although I think Campbell had a decent game too to be fair. Don’t think Turnbull looked himself today in that first half. Forward line had a real tough time of it. Full backs I thought were fine but not really in contention for MotM. Ultimately went with Gorrin, think he’s looking a bit like the player we hoped Bigirimana would have been.

Yeah, don't know why they started the second half although I've no idea how long they played as I couldn't see a thing!

No option but to abandon it. I'm guessing the 10 minute wait was to let them sort tickets

Any chance this could be left to weekend of cup semi finals or does that potentially cause a problem confirming post-split fixtures?

And yet they still managed to run out of tickets... a whole big bunch of us were given tickets for the home end that we’ve to exchange for away stand tickets when we return.

Overall I thought we were pretty decent to be fair. An unsettled first 10/15 minutes or so but after that we had some joy through Ariyibi and got a wee bit of entertainment, and looked like we were the more dominant side for the rest of the half. Despite being quite a ways away, it seemed like Aldred should’ve definitely scored with the header but at the end of the day, none of this really matters.

Ultimately though, I’ve come away from that half really quite optimistic that we can beat them.

Absolute ludicrous to think Frear is a better player than Ariyibi. Ariyibi is far superior, faster, more skilful, creates a lot more space for the team, actually works hard going track back. I used to really like Frear but really don’t see the fuss. When have you ever seen Frear beat 3 or 4 players with so much skill and ease. Stats mean nothing.

ITKMarv has spoken. No more stats allowed. Use of stats to make justifiable or valid points will from now on be completely disregarded. Thank you.

That would be good for all parties as we would get rid of bit part player , Hearts would be happy as he would get more game time , Thistle would happy be happy as might keep them up , and Sammon would be happy as getting more game time , so Perfect please make it happen . Quite a few loan players recalled in England and loaned out elsewhere due to them not being selected enough so does happen .

Personally, I don’t think Hearts will really care about his game time and in an ideal scenario for them, he’d just be off their books. I think for them they’ll want to loan him to the club that’ll pay the biggest % of his wages, so if Partick match or better our contribution, (if they are at all interested) then I’m sure he’ll go there.
