  1. Great free kick by Van Veen at the end, that and the Lewis clearance you kinda start to feel its not going to be your day as we aren't getting that wee break.
  2. The games on BBC Alba at 6pm later incase anyone's not at the game.
  3. Aberdeen fans ensconced in the top tier today, Craig Broon style tactics. I see we have reinforced the barrier at the away section. Great to see we're starting the same 11 today, hopefully they can replicate the performance from last week.
  4. Apparently they're down to one fit centre back, but I totally agree with what your saying. Going back to when they knocked us out of the cup in 2012 the next week we had to field a defensive pairing of Page and Cummins and beat them easily. If we could replicate last weeks performance I would be confident on taking home the three points, apparently Goodwin is taking charge of the side today opposed to just watching from the stands so it would be a bonus to pile on some early misery for him.
  5. Kat

    Alexander.

He has been given a two match touchline ban for his red against Hibernian with one suspended until the end of the season.
  6. That's McGhee confirmed as manager.
  7. Gordon Strachan going all out to get his best buddy a job. I'm surprised they turfed out McPake at this juncture, apparently the directors had a meeting just over a week or so ago to discuss his future but nothing obviously came of that. Since the January deadline day he has got the club into the Quarter Finals of the cup, beat Hearts at Tynecastle and drew with Dundee United, they conceded late against Ross County but they do have a game in hand as well over St Johnstone. According to reports the new manager will be named today.
  8. Derek Adams sacked as manager of Bradford City. He had done well getting Morecambe promoted last season from League Two, perhaps surprising he stayed in the same league to take the Bradford gig but he probably felt he could have achieved more at Valley Parade.
  9. That cup game still annoys me whenever it is mentioned. I think we had been on a run where we hadn't won in 15 games and struggled to score but we had won the previous Tuesday versus Falkirk via an own goal to stop the rot. Transfer rules were stricter back then with signings for the cup having to be made and registered two weeks in advance, we had brought in Willie Falconer who would miss out as he was registered a few days to short but as luck would have it our game was selected for TV and moved from Saturday to Tuesday which meant 15 days had elapsed, but bizarrely the SFA stepped in and said they must stick to the original game date and Falconer couldn't play. Typically we were pumped out. Those fixtures were sandwiched between a game versus Rangers at Ibrox, thankfully the Aberdeen league game win was the catalyst for an unbeaten run that seen us avoid relegation. It would be absolutely tremendous if we could get a win on Saturday and make it four from four, if we can replicate the cup performance then I have no doubt we'll do it.
  10. I thoroughly enjoyed that cup tie, obviously great that we went onto win the tie but that offside call was ludicrous, I was right inline with it and at the time I thought the two centre backs were keeping Efford well onside which proved to be the case. Seconds later Scott Broon got a free kick when he just dropped to the ground then a short time later they were a goal up, the ball seemed to hang in the air forever from that cross. When we weathered the monsoon we took control and played really well, at half time I felt if we matched that first half performance we would have won by a larger margin. I thought Efford was unfortunate at one point as his threaded through ball got caught in the mud otherwise Shields would have been one on one with the keeper. Tremendous save by Liam Kelly at the end, the striker seemed to have all the time in the world to pick his spot. Inconsequential really but I wonder why Aberdeen switched sides before KO, I assumed weather related as surely shooting towards your fans is massive encouragement esph if chasing a goal late on. In saying that I know we done it for quite a few games towards the end of the 18/19 season and we blew the likes of Livingston and Hamilton away in the first half while shooting towards the Cooper.
  11. I literally just spotted that, I take it he had been turfed oot of Hibs lately. Just a shame he isn't starting as any shot on target would likely be a goal.
  12. Great save by Kelly from a Tait header.
  13. Then Slattery booked for a wee shirt tug moments later. I know it won't benefit us this game but Carroll paid the price for a similar challenge against Livi a few years back, it'll be interesting to see if that's highlighted. Shaw off injured, Tierney on.
  14. Richard Tait lucky to avoid a red. Not even a yellow as well, awful challenge.
  15. Interesting lineup, I hope Van Veen remembers to track back. I'm going to assume it's almost a 352 with Goss playing just off of VV. Hopefully the tinkering with the formation pays off. Plenty pace on the bench for later in the game if necessary.
  16. Kelly, O'Donnell, Solholm, Carroll, McGinley, Shaw, Maguire, Slattery, Tierney, Roberts and Van Veen. Quite happy to see a few changes in the lineup today, first starts for Shaw and Tierney. Hearts never got a sniff at Fir Park, obviously doubt it'll be the same today at Tynecastle, three points would be most welcome.
  17. Conditions are wild, making it difficult for both sides. Almost a terrible start but I think they have been limited to one effort since then. The big Hibs centre back loves a roll about.
  18. Yeah Cummings has got a move to Australia lined up with Central Coast Mariners.
  19. Lasley and Alexander at Firhill tonight watching Thistle vs Killie. Not seen much of Rudden in action other than when the Jags pumped Accies earlier in the season. He had a tremendous effort wrongly ruled off from the half way line.
  20. Morton have been rotten this season, I know Dunfermline have been similar form to them as well but it was a great result for them beating the Pars 5-0 on Imries debut as manager. If it wasn't for the winter break I feel we would have won at a canter as no doubt that break will have stifled our good form. As long as we progress to the next round that's the main thing, I think we will win 2-0, hard fought victory. I assume the Well Bois will be dusting down that Dougie Imrie songbook as we speak.
