  1. One thing that went unmentioned is that Stuart McCalls contract is also up at the end of the season,he cant really try to tie down the players on new contracts if the players dont know if he is staying or not.
  2. If its true that the S.F.A want Jennings banned till this is sorted, have only seen the Express carrying the story so need to wait till offical announcement on it,then questions need to be asked.Gary O Connor charged with possessing coke,no action from S.F.A allowed to carry on playing,Ian Black charged with possessing coke,no action from S.F.A allowed to carry on playing,David Goodwillie charged with rape,no action from S.F.A allowed to carry on playing,Gary Thomson convicted of child sex charges, dont remember the S.F.A coming out and banning him from playing the next day,Steve Jennings arrested on suspected betting irregularities not charged or convicted but suspected yet the S.F.A want him banned till its sorted, something not quite right there.
  3. According to Scott Burns in the Express the S.F.A have banned Jennings until this is resolved which could mean he is out till January at least. By Scott Burns MOTHERWELL will be blocked from fielding Stevie Jennings until the police and Gambling Commission complete their investigations into his Fir Park red card. The midfielder was arrested yesterday as police and betting chiefs continue their enquiries into the illegal betting frenzy that saw punters cash-in after he was sent off against Hearts in an SPL fixture back in December last year. The betting commission asked Motherwell not to play the 26 year old until they had closed the case but the club refused claiming there had been no evidence to suggest that the former Tranmere player was involved in any way. Now however the Scottish Football Association have stepped in to insist that Jennings isn’t involved in matches for the club until the matter is cleared up. The move could be a major blow to manager Stuart McCall if the issue is not resolved swiftly as Jennings has been a big player in helping Motherwell rise to second place in the SPL
  4. Had a look on Pie And Bovril for Killie fans views on Clancy, turns out there is a strong rumour they will be using Clancys wages to bring Paul Quinn on loan from Cardiff!!!
  5. Was wondering if this new French youngster is the same one we tried to sign a couple of weeks ago but couldnt because of certain clubs being due money for his development, might be the club have found a way of not having to pay any money by him being registered as an amateur.
  6. If the injury is as bad as first feared its a disaster for the player and the club, only brightside is if you can call it that is because he got injured playing for Scotland the S.F.A. have to cough up compensation, might go some way to help bring a defender in short term.
  7. I see the spl are up to their usual pish, who do you think they have put in charge of the game versus Hearts on sunday...................thats right Stevie O Reilly!!!!!! Should be interesting.Hope Jennings lamps him this time.
  8. I actually think the timing of this will sway the board to keep Murphy, with the community ownership project due to be finalised in the next few months i think it will make the board think twice about selling Murphy in this transfer window, how many fans are they going to get to buy into it if they have just recently sold our best player,so given the timing i think Murphy will go now only if its for silly money.
  9. Found this from this weeks Wishaw Press an interview with Derek Weir, looks like we are getting one more permanent signing then some loan deals, Law signing proves we got it right with Stuart McCall – Derek Weir Jul 6 2011 by Andrew Weston, Wishaw Press MOTHERWELL vice-chairman Derek Weir says the ability to lure hot prospects like Nicky Law north of the border shows the club were right to target Stuart McCall as manager. Law signed a two-year-deal last week after his contract at English League Two side Rotherham United expired. The midfielder rejected advances from a number of clubs down south to join up at Motherwell and when he signed his contract it was the first time he had set foot in Scotland. Despite many assuming McCall was not first choice to replace previous boss Craig Brown in January, Weir insists the former Rangers star was their top man and has been delighted how things have worked out over the past six months. He said: “When we were doing the interviews there were a lot of people interested in becoming manager. “One of the things that we did focus on were their connections in the lower leagues in England. “Jim Gannon did that and Craig Brown had a lot of contacts as well. “We spoke to a lot of people and were delighted with the applications we got and contrary to what was said in some quarters Stuart was our first choice. “With the way the weather was at the time the application process proved more complicated logistically but he was our preferred candidate. “The way last season finished, getting in the top six and reaching the cup final, we are delighted how things turned out.” He continued: “There is a lot of evidence that players tend to go to a club where they are very comfortable and familiar with the management team and the set-up. “Nicky (Law) and Stuart are well known to each other and he will know how Stuart likes to play his football and I am also sure he will realise that Motherwell were a successful club last season. “In terms of signings players that we can develop and bring on, the lower leagues are where we focus and that is where Stuart comes into his own.” With Steve Jennings also signed up for another year, Weir feels there will be room for one more new signing before they start to go down the route of securing loan deals, a tactic which has worked successfully at the club over the past couple of years. However the former Head of Barclays Corporate in Scotland and Ireland believes offers could come in for one of Motherwell’s ‘marquee’ players, including Jamie Murphy who has this week been linked with Premiership cracks Bolton and QPR. He said: “There is the possibility that someone will come in with an offer to buy one of our players and that potentially frees up money. “But there have been no offers made although it’s still early, especially for the teams down in England. “There were plenty of scouts who came here last season and we know there are plenty of players who attract interest. “However we have got a lot of good players under longer contracts which is important. “I know Stuart would like one more player and is speaking to players of a similar calibre to Nicky Law. “In terms of our full-time squad that would probably be it until we look at loans.”
  10. Found this Bolton website spouting pish about Murphy, now who said the English were a bunch of arrogant t@@ts. Bolton Wanderers: 57 Varities? .....cause somewhere in the crowd there's you. Sorry. Morning. You caught me in the middle of my morning Abba rectical. Nothing quite a nice blast of Waterloo to clear the senses early doors I say. You know that July is reaching the peak of it's silly season when papers start linking you with players that you have never heard of. Fotwana Bangala, the Senegalese left back currently playing with Foggia? No? Then you obviously don't know your Italian football my friend. Sven Massivelob, currently controlling the middle of the park for Icelandic team Ragnar Sturlusson? You really need to get on Wikipedia more. Jamie Murphy, 21 year old striker for Motherwell. Are you having a lau...? No, actually, the third one actually does exist and The Daily Star, currently holding the high ground amongst the red tops, are saying that we are fighting Nutty Neil and the jet set crew at QPR for him. For a price of £700K he's yours. Knowing nothing about the lad, I went onto the aforementioned online encyclopedia and found that he has scored 22 goals in 135 appearances, although to be fair to him half of his appearances are from the bench. Hmmm......rough diamond? With that goals per games ratio, he'll fit right into our strike force. You would think he was talking about Barcelona not Bolton ffs. :wank:
  11. Everybody keeps going on about us going into the new season not having a natural right back, well i havent seen many mention us going into the new season without a natural left sided centre half which is every bit as important, since Reynolds left Craigan has been playing out of position in there, people are saying Craigan is past it based on his recent performances,i put his shaky 2nd half of the season more down to playing out of position,if Reynolds does come back, who do you leave out,Craigan or Hutchinson?
  12. Gordon "Night" Mair was one of the few players i can remember that when his name was read out in the team line up over the tannoy that caused a collective "oh naw" from the fans,as for Murray all he seemed to do was play the ball up the left wing to no one even when he had space to run into, and Gardiner he was that bad Stevie Woods was a £10m keeper in comparison.
  13. With Tommy Mclean being the manager for 10 years you would have expected him to have signed some right duffers over the years and he did,off the top of my head i give you John Gardiner,Derek Murray,Gordon Mair,Crawford F@@@ing Baptie,JIm Clark,John Reilly,Dave Shanks and Mark Caughey, maybe Tommys memory is going if he didnt mention any of the players listed, just wish i could forget their time with us as easily.
  14. 15. I know Mcall says we would only be able to bring one more player, thing is though, this might be one more on a permanent deal, hopefully we have not given up on bringing in some loan players after all it has been a success over the last couple of seasons.
