  2. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2017/09/01/update-from-the-chairman/ Update from the ChairmanFriday, September 1, 2017 It has been hectic at Fir Park over the last few months, with the management team extremely busy reshaping the squad for the 2017/18 campaign. We have seen a significant turnover of players, which isn’t exactly the way we want to do things, but was necessary in this instance to refresh the club and give us a renewed look and feel. I want to praise the efforts of manager Stephen Robinson, Head of Recruitment Martin Foyle and COO Alan Burrows, who have worked tirelessly to move players on and recruit players in. Early signs are extremely encouraging, with the club having won seven of the opening nine matches, and with a Betfred Cup Quarter Final against Aberdeen to look forward to later this month. Away from the pitch, the Board has also been faced with some decisions around players potentially exiting the club. Since late May, we have received eight separate bids for three different players, Ben Heneghan, Chris Cadden and Louis Moult, all of which the Board has rejected until we sold Ben to English Championship side Sheffield United yesterday afternoon. The primary reason for the bids being rejected is that they haven’t came close to matching our value for the player. When we assess value, which is always subjective, you look at the timing of the bid, the impact on the team on the pitch, the morale of the squad and supporters as well as our ability to source adequate replacements against the financial terms on offer. With the exception of Sheffield Utd’s yesterday, each bid failed that test. We have gone on record as saying this club will not just accept any bid placed, that we will be far more aggressive in trying to retain proper value and will only sell if we believe it’s in the best interests of Motherwell Football Club. Only then do we believe we can get proper value for players, both now and in the future. There is a good feeling around the club at present. That doesn’t just happen, it needs to be worked at and we have a team who are prepared to do that. To continue this good work, we will need your support as fans and ‘Well Society members, effectively owners of the club. Over the next few weeks, you will see a number of initiatives launched by the Society designed to help continue with this policy, which I strongly believe is essential for the club to prosper in the long term. Together, the club, its fans and its players can continue to grow and ensure a healthy, sustainable future. The future is bright, the future is Claret and Amber! Best, Jim McMahon Chairman
  3. Possibly one of the Sheffield teams.
  4. I'm hearing... - Heneghan will leave today, probably to Blackburn - we'll bring two players in, one of which is Liam Grimshaw
  5. Truly dreadful first half. The kind of game that would get football stopped. Conditions not helping. Their goalkeeper has been a spectator.

  8. https://stv.tv/sport/football/1395940-louis-moult-will-not-sign-new-motherwell-contract/ Louis Moult will not sign new contract with Motherwell STV 25 mins ago The striker has rejected an offer and has less than a year left on his current deal. The striker has said he will not sign a new deal at Fir Park. The club had made an offer to extend the player's stay which would have made him the highest-paid player in manager Stephen Robinson's squad. Moult's existing contract runs out at the end of the season and the player will be free to talk to other clubs in January unless Motherwell decide to sell the player rather than lose him for free next summer. Rangers and Aberdeen were both interested in the forward, with the Dons being unsuccessful in a move to take Moult to Pittodrie earlier this summer. The 25-year old has been an important figure for the Steelmen, scoring 30 goals for the club in the last two seasons.
  9. Anyone thinking of going?
  10. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2017/08/17/judicial-panel-appeal-outcomes/ Motherwell FC’s trio of appeals were heard at Hampden Park this morning in front of the Judicial Panel. The appeals against Charles Dunne’s red card at Ross County and Trevor Carson’s dismissal at St Johnstone were both rejected. However, the appeal against Charles Dunne’s red card against St Johnstone was upheld. Trevor Carson, alongside skipper Carl McHugh, will now be suspended for Saturday’s match against Ross County. Charles Dunne will serve his one-match ban in the Betfred Cup Quarter Final against Aberdeen next month.

  14. What happened near the start of the match? Was something chucked onto the pitch from the Bois section? And did the TV coverage make a big deal of it?

  18. Not seen this posted already http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40584027 Motherwell striker Louis Moult 'very grateful' for interest By Andy Burke BBC Sport Scotland 7 minutes ago From the section Football Share this page Motherwell striker Louis Moult Moult has another 12 months to run on his Motherwell contract Louis Moult says he always viewed Motherwell as a path to bigger things, but insists he will only consider leaving when a bid for him is accepted. Aberdeen failed last week with a second offer in the region of £400,000 for the 25-year-old striker. "If clubs are interested it's a compliment," said Moult. "In terms of bids and people being interested I'm very, very grateful. "But it's the club's decision. I've got another year on my contract." Motherwell have tabled a contract extension that would make Moult the best paid player at the club. The former Stoke City trainee moved to Fir Park from Wrexham in 2015 and has been top scorer in his two seasons with the Steelmen, netting 18 goals in each campaign. Moult is recovering from groin surgery and insists he is no hurry to leave. "It would be wrong for me to go and kick their door down if they value me a little bit more," he added. "The manager at the time, Ian Barraclough, sold the club to me as a stepping stone. That's what the club is. "I believe I can score goals wherever I go."
  19. Hopefully not. I'm not in any hurry for another Friday night against the Old Firm after what happened when Celtic visited on the previous occasion.

  21. FPC's report on tonight's AGM http://www.motherwell-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/well_society_agm_2017_908985/index.shtml Well Society AGM 2017 By Firparkcorner Last updated : 22 June 2017 Viewed : 21 The Well Society held its first AGM since taking ownership of Motherwell FC at Fir Park on Thursday evening. The formalities were soon completed and a Q&A session followed. Chairman Douglas Dickie got proceedings going with some wide ranging remarks about the recent work of the Society. He referred to the improvements in communication with members by means of the updated website, regular newsletters, board meeting reports, monthly surgeries and a regular presence in the stands on match-days. Work on updating members' data has progressed to such an extent that it was expected personalised mailshots could be sent in the coming weeks both to convey thanks for support and to encourage further contributions. A revised package of benefits would soon be revealed. Current income is around £10/11k per month and with the generous 'Double your Money' scheme in operation for the whole of 2017 there is an obvious need to maximise donations. For every pound raised Les Hutchison will reduce our debt by a corresponding amount. The three year agreement concluded last October requires that repayments of his loan (and the smaller amount due to John Boyle) need come only from a percentage of any player sales. Thereafter another negotiation is likely. In total the Society has raised £650k and that is used to support the club. Douglas referred to the financial backing available to our competitors and reminded the thirty or so in the audience that we are the backers of Motherwell. The manager is completely familiar with the clubs finances and his plans are tailored to be consistent with the resources at his disposal. Tom Feely delivered his accounts and answered a few technical questions. He made it clear that any sale of players would be determined by the Club/Society board and that we would seek a proper valuation. He indicated that fewer than 800 members made regular contributions and that efforts would be made to encourage more of the 2,000 currently on the books to sign up. Alan Burrows chipped in with an explanation of the club's position on the SFA's Project Brave. He is hopeful that we will meet their criteria but indicated that some creative thinking would be needed if we are to continue to develop youngsters from our community. The meeting concluded after an hour.
