  1. Dunne

    Absolutely strolled it

    Better and better every week

    Thought Main was good too.

Great to see Bowman back and looking to make an impression, great positivity and touch.

On the down side, Frear ran out of either gas or bottle at key points late in the game, hopefully the former.

  2. If that were the case youd think hed go with another one of the many options he has in the same position.

I think Rose does his best shift when hes got legs round about him, a lot of the stuff he does is the grunt work. Plenty of games where hes been the anchor for good performances.

  3. Hartley was stupid imo but its done so need to move on. Worst part for me was getting 2 game ban for a wee push now if he had lamped him and got 2 game ban now that may have been worth it .

Or even just go completely tonto and lamp two players and a ref, and get a four game ban and one suspended. I reckon Hartley should be entitled to at least one free swing at wee Imrie , fair is fair....

  4. On this occasion I think you're missing the point. No-one is defending Hartley, at least I don't think they are. What he did was wrong just downright wrong and he deserves to be punished for it, which is he being. He's let down his team mates, the fans, his team captain, managers and the club. Some, though not me, would also argue he's let down Dougie Imrie and Hamilton Accies. As I say he's being punished for his indiscretions and I think he will accept that. However he's human; football is a an emotional game and once he's served his punishment we move on.

All that said, he, we the paying fans, and our club should expect no less than fair and consistent treatment of the other culprits. He shouldn't expect the incident to be treated in an ad hoc and random way and through spur of the moment justice. As far as I can tell there were 3 other "fouls" committed by Accies players namely shoving, kicking and punching Hartley. In my book they should also be investigated thoroughly and treated in a fair and consistent way, and if found guilty given appropriate punishments.

You refer to ensuing "handbags". How would you describe Hartley's shove? McMann shoved Hartley; and he was punched and kicked by 2 others. I'd hardly describe punching and kicking as handbags. If that had happened on Fir Park Street then the 2 culprits would have been lifted and charged with breach of the peace.

The issue here is not whether Hartley should be defended but that the entire incident should be investigated in a fair and consistent manner.

    Your honour

The aggressor(Hartley) will invariably receive the harshest punishment, it has always been that way.

As for the ensuing meleé, I think microanalysis of every action is not worth pursuing. When in a hole, stop digging.

A Weegies definition of handbags may be a touch less delicate than others.

I see much the same on the bus to my work most days

  5. Hartley was red carded for acting like a petulant four year old, dressed as a professional footballer.

Utterly inexcusable, he could cost us the chance to proceed to the next round of the Cup.

The ensuing handbags amounted to nothing.

Dallas didnt run 20 yards and have a go at someone , Hartley did.

Fighting talk? Anyone else up for the next round of Defend the Indefensible?

  6. Embarrassing

Carson- nothing much to do, poor getting beaten twice from tight angles

Tait- playing with an injury, poor delivery throughout

Hammell- poor at their third, but a decent shift

    Kipré- solid and committed,

Hartley- poor from him, post match red completely unacceptable. A lack of class, Robinson almost pardons him. Embarrassing and his suspension will damage us. Fine him and sign another centre half, NO ONE is indispensable.

Campbell- his injury cost us hugely. Bossing the game til then.

Bigiramana- no cohesive linking or passing. Caught on the ball repeatedly late on

    Rose- lumbering and ineffective today

Tanner- good goal. Missed chances and was absolutely blowing out his arse late on. Doesnt do enough work in opposition box

Bowman- confidence has gone, constantly running to corners, no driving into the box

Newell- grafted but too far from the box. Knackered then subbed

Grimshaw- a shadow of the guy we had on loan before

    Fisher- did nothing, not sharp

McLean- looked positive, too little too late

    Not our finest hour

    Sorry, Phil

We let you down , today of all days

  7. Campbell for me, bloody hell- a tenacious ball-winning midfielder - with composure!

    Cadden was absolutely tireless too.

Bowman made a difference too, he needs to get the right service and he'll be a handful. Less of last seasons aimless long ball nonsense.

  8. The Carson sending off is a joke. I just don't were the goal scoring opportunity that has been denied. Kipre is shepherding the ball back, if Carson isn't there the ball gets launches for a throw or a corner. Only because Carson is where he is, does Kipre let him take it. Even when he takes it, it is so difficult to tell which side of the line it is that there is no way the ref can be sure that it is a foul, never mind decide to send him off.

For what it's worth, I think Carson should have had the savvy to just put his foot through it, no chances taken

McHugh, silly challenge for first yellow, even more stupid to give the ref a decision to make for the second.

Dunne? harsh pen AND a straight red. Seems excessive.

But I think on balance we should just suck it up and move on, on all counts.

Paranoia " it's the refs, they've got it in for us"

Is unhealthy, unhelpful and should be put to bed right away . "Infamy, infamy -they've all got it infamy" as Kenneth Williams once said,matron...

There's clear signs of a greater battling spirit than we've had for some time. Let's focus on that

  9. First post in a while...

I've struggled to muster any strength of feeling towards our squads over the last couple of years. I don't like the model of signing substandard players from the English lower leagues and hoping about 1 in 3 of them turn out to be useful and produce a small transfer fee. They've no interest in Motherwell and likewise I've no interest in their development and future.

It's a continual struggle to keep churning through them and just exist along the same lines indefinitely.

It's to the detriment of young Scottish players of our own which I find immensely disappointing. I've no real affection for the team anymore and my attendances have tailed off to the point where I was away out playing golf yesterday afternoon and didn't bother to check the score until hours after the match had ended. In the not too distant past, I'd never have envisaged that ever being the case.

There's no identity to our team on the park, they're 90% mercenaries who will be off the first payday they can get their hands on. Contrast it to our team of ten years ago...

Dear me , who clubbed you over the head with the nostalgia stick ?

i suggest you have a word with Doctor Who, see if she can sort you out with a bit of time travel back to the glory days of the 50s

Lost your affection for the club?

Take a look at the work being done to engage kids and local businesses.

Get Steelman to high five you next game you're at.

Go on, you know you want to...
