Who do we need to compete with, only Motherwell fans buy Motherwell season tickets, so not increasing the prices is a good thing. A price increase even a modest one might have pushed the price beyond some people's budget.

So if there's no need for an increase it’s happy days and a good move by the club.

People in here have been bemoaning our abilities to compete with St Mirren and Kilmarnock as recently as the January transfer window, yet we want to essentially reduce our capability to match them in financial terms 🤷‍♂️.

A very modest inflationary increase would have been in order, but I'm not complaining if prices are frozen. Most folks wages or pensions have increased slightly. Inflation is now about 3%. In effect then, season tickets will be very slightly cheaper for many.

Appreciate the sentiment, but not sure how this is going to make us any more competitve with others around us, unless of course they hope to sell another few hundred tickets - I just don't see it.

  3. My dad walked to that game after his Satruday morning shift in the city centre. Got in just before KO and could only get to the top of the East terrace. Said he only saw the ball when it was in the air and had to go to a screening in the Rex the following week to see the goals 🤣

    Here's a great example from Jan 75.

State of that pitch then Bobby Graham's pass to Willie P great first touch & sublime finish.

May as well chuck in Arthur Montford's commentary "chance of a lifetime for Pettigrew". That's up there with "Argentina here we come"

What a memory jerker that is. Dropped my mum and sister off in the city centre - dad in his wisdom decided we would take in the game. First turnstyle he came too was the main stand at the city centre end of the ground. Got in and were surrounded by priests (hundreds of them). My dad's advice? sit on your hands and we both managed it until Pettigrew's winner - he was first out his seat followed quickly by me. Thankfully we got out without too much trouble. The look on their faces as we celebrated was a joy to behold.

Yup, and it absolutely pished down for 90 minutes.

We did win a third or fourth round game v Arbroath about then, 4-0 I think. Possibly the year before, least said about that semi-final the better.

That Arbroath game I'm sure was during Roger Hynd's time in charge 1977/78 and was a third round tie. I think we went on a fairly long unbeaten run after he took charge earlier in the year and after beating Arbroath we were drawn at home to an Alan Mackin inspired Queens Park at home in the next round. I was convinced we were going all the way. The draw was concluded as we made our way home and when it was announced on the radio the bus went mental. Then the inevitable doing from Queens Park brought us down to earth - that was the start of the inevitable slide that utlimately cost Hynd his job.

My education was also very much delivered in the 1975 Airdrie cup semi. I still have the scarf I bought for that game in case I ever forget.

The one and only time, I think the 4 step rule was ever used. Though I might be a little biased in that comment.

Yup, correct. I was 12 when that semi took place and I remember my old man literally dragging me back to the car in fucking tears. I was inconsolable for a week. Didn't help that I went to a school full of H*ns, none of whom had ever seen the inside of a football ground. After disposing of Celtic and Hibs in that cup run (and I think Arbroath if my memory serves), we'd already eliminated two of the top three and were well on the way to disposing of the third until the masons stepped in. That really was a year we should have seen a cup win !

Cowdenbeath were our 4th round opponents. Half of Lanarkshire descended on Fife that day.

  8. I doubt its anywhere close to that figure, but happy to stand corrected. Will that cost figure not be available from the club accounts?

Point I was making is that St Mirren and Kilmarnock's expenditure for Women's teams isn't likely to be any less than ours and isn't necessarily equated to the division they are in. So I would doubt there is any financial advantage.

I just had a look at the SWPL table and it's noticeable that three of the clubs we are chasing for the top 6 don't have a top division women's team. That's surely handing St Mirren, Dundee and Kilmarnock a financial advantage over us?

If the Society is going to be asking the support to dig deeper then they have to make sure we aren't throwing money away. There's been a lot of talk about Kilmarnock getting KVV but when you consider how much more we spend on the pitch plus training facilities over them then it's obvious how they can afford it. It gives them a clear competitive and financial advantage and it would cost us nothing to try and get the rules changed to even that out.

To actually have any say on these issues the society would need to have the majority on the club board. It's not feasible to be asking members to put in money to be effective junior partners to people who are putting in nothing.

Kilmarnock have a Women's team, but they are currently in SWPL2. Not sure why being in SWPL has any bearing on their expenditure on that front. St MIrren are in SWPL1.

Not sure how likely it is but would be good if we can keep the core of the squad and add to it with some better quality. Not sure who’s on loan but would love to see Gent and Vale here next season. I Also like Halliday and Nicholson. I know we will have Miller and Bair. I think Miller will be a stand out next season. Need to see what we can do to keep Spittal

I'd add Devine to that list.

The guy’s been on good form the last week, told his co commentator to shut it when he suggested Rangers  or Celtic should sign Lennon Miller last Sunday, said on Wednesday that he should be left to continue his development at Motherwell for the next 15 seasons and topped it off tonight saying he had lost his hair twice since Motherwell last beat Rangers in the league :)

Also, he’s had more faith in the manager and squad than most of us on here this season.

That comment about his hair, was superb. Had a right "belly laugh" at it.
