  1. McCart is only doing his job, I agree. But as someone who could potentially be sounded out about our manager's position in time, he is doing himself no favours with the club. And it now appears he has went back on his word of not approaching any of 'Well's youngsters. This is probably a gentlemans agreement and not in writing, but still it is extremley shady of McCart to go against this "promise" and my estimations of him have gone down.

McCart did indeed state at the MST forum that the club let him go to Celtic under the condition that he didn't come back and try and steal some of our youth players. When McGhee left, McCart said he saw an opportunity to make a move for both Paul Slane and Bob McHugh but his approaches were then thwarted when Gannon was appointed as our new manager.

With Gannon gone you'd expect a similar situation to happen. However, Craig Brown was also on the panel that night and I'm sure he will be fully aware of any approaches by McCart and Celtic for any of our youth players should any further enquires be made.

  2. I met up with Andy Ross, Colc and a couple of their pals who came down for the match against Everton recently. Top guys and a credit to Motherwell. Andy, I still have your match programme, pm me so I can post it on.

Must have been an imposter, I've never been to Manchester.

Only time I spoke to Andy that day was at HT when he asked me to put on a few bets for him (yes he trusts me enough to give me 1. His betfair log in details and 2. The security code off his credit card  ). He asked the odds on 3-0 FT but then decided against it, rather putting his hard earned cash on Owen to score next ;)

  3. Stockport in Adminstration.

    Peter Thompson anyone?

Did he not have a collapsed lung or something recently? Sure i read something about that.

Would take him at Fir Park. He had a good scoring record at Linfield. No doubt would want to stay somewhere down south after only moving there in the summer!

  4. I'd play Coutts simply to see if he's good enough. Might not need another pointless loan signing...

Does anyone know if Coutts is tied down on a long term contract?! Remember reading something in January where apparently MK Dons were checking him out (whilst he was on international duty i think) because he was out of contract this summer.

Would like to see him given a chance/gain some experience before the season is out. Even if its just having him on the bench rather that the boy thats on loan.

  5. A big physical centre forward is a must.

I'd like to see us make a move for Higdon from Falkirk if they go down. Big physical guy with a good presence up front. Always seems to do well against us.

Not sure if his contract is up though.

  6. Some early team news. Jim O'Brien's out. According to the BBC live text he's playing for Hibs the day:

    1245: GOAL

    Hibernian 1-0 Hearts

Steven Fletcher sends a looping header into the net from Jim O'Brien's deep cross from the right.

  7. I think if it was a club who had fans, Almondvale would be a crackin wee ground.

aye i don't think its as bad as people make it out to be.

I got a book with aerial photos of football grounds for my birthday the other week (don't laugh! it was just a cheap thing on the side) which has a good picture of Almondvale. If you can guarantee to almost fill it every week (as well as moving the stands tighter to pitch much like our East Stand) I think you could create quite a good atmosphere.

On a side note there is two cracking photos of Fir Park in the book. One directly above the 'Ark and another showing the stadium within an aerial shot of the whole of Motherwell.
