Choosing my words carefully here, I know of a workplace where several departments have been hit by large outbreaks among staff while others have remained pretty much unscathed. PPE is plentiful in each area and protocols are identical. Some of the areas that have been hit heavy are not as high risk as others that have been largely untouched. Is it dumb luck or have some been complacent? Impossible to tell, but certainly worth investigating...

Aye, these guys might be in a bubble at work, but they go home to their families who are at school, work etc.

i can see a situation where someone in the club has it, and it boomerangs back via family etc..

On the other hand, if you are short of players, getting a positive test that forces half your squad into isolation on the eve of a match could be perceived as convenient...

  2. I don’t know if it’s been discussed earlier on the thread, but is it a consideration that St Mirren just don’t have enough players?

How many were unavailable due to COVID?

I know they only named 4 subs v Aberdeen in their last game.

Having apparently being only able to get a squad of 15 for a game on 3rd October, they had 2 weeks to promote some youth players to the first team squad or bring in some additional players.

It seems hard to believe they only realised at lunchtime on Saturday they had a threadbare squad....

To be fair, maybe just shows his passion And will to win, even at that stage in his career.

I always thought he was a Motherwell fan or at least went to our games growing up.

    Exactly what Im thinking!

And I dont care what you say Steelboy. You lob a cup of hot tea/bovril/whatever then in my eyes You are a prick! There is, and will never be any excuse for a "fan" doing that. Looking forward to the not guilty defence, "no sir, I did not chuck the cup at Morelos, it slipped out of my hand and just happened to travel 15 feet straight at the Rangers players coupon. I believe there was a freak solar flare  that caused an anomaly in the earth's atmosphere, mustve been that. I bought the drink, was holding it, but it was definately not me that threw it"

Maybe the freak solar flare give him a steaming hot drink 70 minutes into a game in December. ....

  5. Not strictly MFC related, but might be of interest if your looking for something to read during lockdown.

I’ve ordered a copy, will update if it’s any good.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087SMDQD7/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=steelmen&qid=1588587676&sr=8-1

Steelmen is a gritty, funny, thought provoking portrayal of a group of blast furnace workers on shift number 2 in the few years leading to the closure of Ravenscraig Steelworks. It tells how the men came out the other side with varying degrees of success, failure and for some downright human tragedy. The story focuses on a number of the men across the age spectrum particularly on young friends Jack and Ricky as they struggle to make the journey from boys to men against the culture of hard drinking and misogynistic behaviour that existed at the time, all the while with the spectre of inevitable redundancy waiting around the corner. Steelmen tells the hitherto untold story of Ravenscraig, stripped of romanticism, the real story of the dirt, the danger, the hard-drinking, the camaraderie and the triumph and tragedy that engulfed all of the men who worked there, none of whom were left untouched by their experiences in the giant plant affectionalty known by locals as "The Craig"[\quote]

Noticed adam Livingstone there also i thought he was out on loan. Also their finishing drills ndjoli always in centre with long and watt so robinson i think sees him as central striker.

I think that’s normal when they’re loaned out to part time teams?

To me, the best thing referees can do is to explain the major decisions after the game.

This, to my mind, would bring greater respect between fans and referees. Would also give them the chance to admit mistakes (although this part of my thinking is probably a step too far for refs!)

Once you hear a referees thinking, perhaps they are not as inconsistent as we think. :whistling:

I think for normal fans that could work.

Can imagine for fans of a certain couple of clubs, those words would be dissected and twisted to the nth degree. Absolute can of worms.

Also as others have said, they’re not going to tell you the reason.

”I didn’t have a clue what happened, looked to my assistant and he was none the wiser, so decided it was easiest and safest to just give the decision to Rangers/Celtic”

  8. There was a foul at St Mirren (the away game about 3 months ago, I hold grudges) where Motherwell went to break up the park from a rare St Mirren attack, and the st Mirren player pulled Campbell (?) back by the shirt, ref gave the FK, but no yellow. It was a textbook yellow card offence.

I was pleased to see the StMirren keeper get booked relatively quickly the other night, some keepers are utterly painful to watch with their shithousery. He could rightly be a bit annoyed as I’ve seen much worse go unpunished.

Don’t even start on the different set of rules applied to 2 teams and even more so in fixtures between the two.

Extending that out, I believe there’s a potential for “fixture chaos” post split, with it looking possible Rangers could have 4 away and Celtic 4 at home, if only flipping just 1 fixture would remedy that with minimum impact to the other top 6 teams...

I am sure there is a middle ground somewhere which would have every fan happy. Just realised I implied we could have something that would keep every fan happy and realised how mental I sound.

    you can’t please some people.

A solution would surely be a matchday twitter account or could they not just delete all the tweets an hour after FT?

I am happy to have a go at hearts shocking prices but ours at £24  for away fans are shocking tae.

I agree the price for your walk up adult in the south stand is too high, it’s mitigated a bit by our good prices for concessions (from 60) and families.

Doesn’t help if you’re buying 1 adult ticket.

To be fair Hearts go down as low as £5 for u-13s.

Accies we’re wanting £15 for kids!

    Livi are robbing bastards too.

There doesn’t really seem to be any appetite to lower prices for league games on the season ticket. Although Motherwell do tend to get us a good price for cup games.

I do want Hylton to do well as I do all of our players but I have yet to be impressed.  Mind you still an improvement on Frear.   COYW

His insistence on trying to beat his man again and again until he’s crowded out is infuriating to say the least. Last night he was in a good position to cross a few times. Aarons not much better on that front.

I thought the game was passing O’hara by.

  12. I’m just trying to organise a baby sitter so it better be on.

Burrows has said on twitter no plans for a pitch inspection early on this morning, but they’d have a look when they got in.

Dry just now, and forecast to be dry for the game. Looks like it’s likely to rain at some point this afternoon though.

One day they’ll invent giant buildings with football pitches in them....

Id scrap the winter break, playing Wednesday Saturday through December and February to accommodate it makes a complete farce of it.

Just imagine the Damage we could do with those three in the team!

Makes You proud of our Wee Club when You see things like that. Those guys could have been anywhere last weekend but went back up to watch their old Club. It shows how much we can affect players, as well as being a great advert for future talent

On a similar note, seeing James McFadden jnr among the ‘well fans at dens (was highlighted in BBC coverage) really pleased me and made me kind of proud.
