  1. If anyone is willing to post issue 1 down to Yorkshire please send me a PM. I I'll transfer cost of the fanzine and what ever it costs to get it down to me by payal or however it suits the sender.

*Edit - Now sorted, many thanks*

  2. I've no idea of Leeds strengths and weakness

Great going forwards, only Norwich scored more League goals last season http://www.statto.co...011/attack/full

At the same time shambolic at the back, the game against Preston NE last season springs to mind. Somehow Leeds managed to throw away a 4-1 home lead, ending up losing the match 4-6.

More League goals were scored in games featuring Leeds last season than any other club in the division (an average of 3.28 goals / per game) http://www.statto.co...otal-goals/full

I always had the feeling last season that Leeds needed to score two to have a chance of getting a draw.

Grayson has made changes to the midfield and at the back in an attempt to correct a porous defence. If I was a betting man however I wouldn't put any money on goalless draw on Saturday.

  3. Gutted to be missing the opportunity to watch my 2 fav teams.

Motherwell is very accessible by train from Yorkshire so 3-4K travelling fans wouldn't surprise me. Look how many they took to Exeter.

I think a few who are doing the trip up and down in the one day have been put off by the train timings.

Last direct Motherwell to Leeds train leaves at quarter past five, I assured quite a few that this left enough time to get out of Fir Park and make it to the station. You could forgive those that haven't been to Fir Park for discounting the idea as it could have left them tight for time.

If you miss the quarter past five slot, you're looking at the 19.14 (16 hour journey time) or the 22.47 (13 hour journey time)

As this is the case I think a good number will drive to Preston and get the train up from there, hard luck for the driver if he had fancied a pint.

  4. Saw them last at the johnstons paint trophy area final against carlisle, one of their subs, Kilkenny, was shouting and cursing at children in the stands while he was warming up, then when he got on he missed a penalty and when the Carlisle fans jumped on to the pitch to celebrate with the team he started chasing and punching teenage fans, disgusting mob.

You seem to be suffering from selective memory.

The Carlisle fans were innocent victims & Leeds players the pantomime villians according to you. You didn't mention however...

The "celebrating" Carlisle fans who assaulted 3 Leeds players on the pitch? The "celebrating" Carlisle fans who attacked Shane Lowry from behind on the pitch?

If you missed it the BBC reporter didn't (see audi on the bbc link below).

According to you Leeds players assualted "celebrating" Carlisle fans but Cumbria police arrested 10 Carlisle fans during the disturbance? Seems Strange..

The "celebrating" Carlisle fans that needed mounted police to disperse them?

The "celebrating" Carlisle fans who's mugshots Carlisle United put up on their official website asking for help to identify the culprits?

The "celebrating" Carlisle fans who threw missiles at Leeds keeper Ankergren during the game and shone a laser pen in his eyes during the penalty shoot out?

(again if you missed it, the bbc reporter didn't, see audio on bbc link below)

My memory of the game is very different to yours.

Leeds are no angels but lets not pretend the Carlisle fans were whiter then white.

  5. John Boyle wasn't involved in the illegal purchase of a football club.

Tip of the iceberg, Ken was bankrupting banks long before it became fashionable (see links below)

Ken Bates / Irish Trust Bank Collapse

Ken very nearly caused a coup in the British Virgin Islands following a real disaster of a property development project. The British Goverment were so worried they stationed a Royal Navy Gunship off the islands & ended up coughing up millions to get him to leave.

In the 1960's, the Bates-Hill Company bought out Mr. Fowler the then owner of Wickham's Cay. It is said that Bates-Hill then signed an agreement with the local government giving the British development firm the permission to reclaim the area around the Cay, a project Mr. Fowler had already begun in 1964. The agreement, essentially a 199-year lease, was signed in 1967 and gave Bates-Hill control of Wickham's Cay and three quarters of Anegada."

According to Mrs. Lake, opposition to the agreement began to build almost at once when it was discovered that Bates-Hill was not planning to allow locals to have access to the site except in a subservient capacity.

In delivering the keynote address Chief Minister, Dr. the Hon. D. Orlando Smith told the audience "let us not forget that today we stand in hallowed ground. Four decades ago an agreement was signed giving the entire area of Wickham's Cay to a foreign developer. This agreement was signed without the consent of the people of the BVI. At that moment, our community had to make a definitive choice—either to accept our status as subjects in our own land—or stand up to the powers that be and demand our fundamental rights. This community made a choice –we stood up and we resisted."

The Chief Minister went on to list some of the heroes who stood up: Noel Lloyd, Lindy DeCastro (Ras Uhuru), Wilfred Smith, Louella Harrigan, Roosevelt Smith, Cromwell Nibbs, Patsy Lake and others. "They rallied together under the banner of the Positive Action Movement. The community stood firm in the face of resistance from the British authorities—stood firm even when a battleship was deployed at Road Town Harbour to monitor the events. Thanks to that act of bravery—that choice---- the land of Wickham's Cay was restored to its rightful owners --- the people of the BVI," Hon. Smith noted.

  6. Transcripts of Ken Bates Wednesday Yorkshire Radio interviews are posted on Leeds United messageboard Waccoe, the following was posted on the site today, I'd post a link but only registered members can view the board.

From Ken Bates Yorkshire Radio Interview with Tom Kirwin broadcast today.

Tom Kirwin " Elsewhere, just away from transfers, the pre-season tour to Scotland is not confirmed yet but plans are place to play a couple of games north of the border against Motherwell and Falkirk".

Ken Bates" Yeah, I think it is nearly done now. We sent Dusty Miller up this week to inspect the training and dormitory facilities to make sure they are ok. I understand they came back and the report was positive so it looks like it will be subject to contracts. They had to get permission from the Scottish FA to play friendly games against foreign clubs because we are, in football terms, a foreign club as far as Scotland is concerned. But subject to that being approved, I see no reason why we shouldn't get the approval then it will be Falkirk and Motherwell as well as Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday and Rochdale".

*Dusty Miller is the nickname given to 1st team coach Ian Miller.

  7. You have to question Leeds part in this whole shambles. Surely someone there must know the rules regarding loaning players out. Of course Motherwell are partly to blame for also not checking if this deal was all above board. At the end of the day the parties involved look like idiots and hopefully we have now learned a valuble lesson.

I'm not sure if LUFC are culpable in this or not, what I can tell you is that Shaun Harvey is in charge of transfer activity at Elland Road as Ken Bates can only spend 90 days a year in the UK as he's a tax exile.

I wouldn't trust Shaun Harvey to run a bath.

Sorry the deal didn't work out, would have been good for all parties concerned.

I don't know how involved Stuart Mcall is in player transfers, however Shaun Harvey worked at Bradford City for 10 years, IIRC he was there for a period when Mcall was also there. They grew up a stones throw from each other, if either had question marks over the deal picking up the phone to get clarification should have been dead easy.

  8. Tenner's bet on a new song on Saturday featuring something along the lines of:

"We've got Michael Grella, ella, ella - hey, hey, hey... etc".

Possibly the worst effort I heard while he was at Elland Road was that version of Rihanna's song Umbrella, can't remember the exact words only that it ended "Grella, Grella", thank God it didn't catch on.

  9. How is the trip planning for your dads bday going? did you manage to get hospitallity tickets? and picked a game?

Not so good at the moment, I lost my Mum over the Christmas break and the idea was to get my Dad back into the football to keep him occupied. I thought I could get him up to Fir Park when ever Leeds weren't at home & it'd take his mind off of things.

At the moment he says he's not up to the trip, however I'm sure he'll come round given time & I have all the info I need to organise things in the future thanks to the help from this boards members.

  10. Yea! im sure all the guys here would be interested in seeing what we've got

I'll try to do it tonight, least I can do after all the help board members gave me re my Dad's Birthday trip to Fir Park.

  11. I'm a season ticket holder at Leeds United & have watched Grella play a good few times for us.

I think it's fair to say the lad didn't get a fair crack of the whip down at Elland Road & started most games on the subs bench. He seems to have a fair bit of ability which isn't reflected in his goals per game average.

I'd be interested to see how he does at Fir Park and wish him all the best.

  12. Thing is Rex if you do go to the Celtic game you will be in a ground that has more away fans than home supporters, have an 'atmosphere' that is polluted with sectarian bile and if you are in the POD Stand you will have to share toilet and kiosk facilities with these cretins.......an accident waiting to happen. Far too much money to waste on that experience.

Hibs would be a totally different experience and probably a much better game of football. Plus hospitality will be a good bit cheaper.

Point taken Finlay and the heads up is really is appreciated, horrific to think that you lads have to put up with that sort of behavior.

In addition even though my Dad will be 75 in the morning I wouldn't be able guarantee he wouldn't kick off if faced with that sort of thing at Fir Park :drinks:

  13. would recomend the hibs game, more chance of a better game and us winning (sad but true)

I take your point but I don't think the result will bother him, it will be just good for him to be surrounded by people who share a common interest. Not many people have an opinion on Motherwell in Yorkshire so a visit to Fir Park will be a welcome change.

  14. We were in the Andy Payton suite for the Hamilton home game earlier in the season. It is fantastic you get a 4 course lunch and all the booze you can drink until 6 o clock (excluding match time). This includes half time refreshments. They even made me a special dairy free dinner at short notice (like on the day). This starts about 1200 and they chuck you out at 6. £140 each though and 2 people wouldn't be a problem.

Sounds great, my Dad's on Warfarin at the minute and I'll be driving so the free booze will go to waste though.

Well i dont want the poor guys dad sitting next to folk like us and having pish from the toilets overflowing past him

Thanks for the consideration, last time I was at Fir Park was the late 70's (or perhaps early 80's). I seem to recall sitting on an open terrace behind a goal and clambering down a muddy bank to get to the toilets. Pretty certain that was the case but could be my memory playing tricks on me.

Thanks again gents of the info posted.

  15. Best bet is to email / phone them and ask. I think there were some smaller groups (4) in the Centenary Suite when I was there but that was a couple of seasons ago.

I would also imagine you would have a better chance of a small group at the Hibs game.

I suspected that might be the case after taking a quick look at the club website, I'll have a chat with my Dad on his birthday (7th) & ask him which game he would rather go to. Once that's settled I'll get in touch with the club, I thought I'd do some digging before hand first.

Keep an eye on here as well though, theres a guy called Flow who works for motherwell who might be able to give you more info

Cheers, I'll look out for him.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond gents.

  16. Im not sure they do packages like that, i know their's 15 of us going to see Motherwell v Hamilton but i dont know about that.

If you were picking a stand i would pick the main stand. The east stand is fine but the main stand would be best for atmosphere if he wants to go and enjoy the game.

If he goes to see the Celtic game they do get a part of the main stand so not all the seats are available for it

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

  17. My Dad watched Motherwell a lot in the 50's & 60's before work took him to England. I wanted to take him to a game as a birthday present but I haven't been to Fir Park since the 70's and don't really know what the score is these days.

I'd planned to take him to either the Celtic or Hibernian match, we're traveling quite a way & he's not in the best of health these days so I considered one of the clubs hospitality packages.

I took a look at the club website but it looks like they only cater for larger groups or companies in terms of matchday hospitality.

Can anybody confirm if there is a matchday hospitality package available for smaller groups (2 people)?

I see there are 3 options, South Stand box, Centenary or Millennium Suite. Has anybody been in there in the past on a matchday and if so how did they find it?

If there are no matchday hospitality packages available to small groups am I best buying tickets in the East Stand or the main stand?

Apologies in advance if this subject has been covered previously.
