  1. Surely has to be one from Tait, Cadden and Lasley with maybe McDonald getting a few 'he scored a goal' votes. Went for Lasley Surprised he was taken off because Clay was dire today. Must have been with an eye on the Friday match.
  2. Moult had a 10 out of 10 performance last week but it was more like 1 out of 10 this week. McFadden improved us but so did Moult by coming off.
  3. Steal of the century, Partick should have been 4 or 5 up when we equalized. Funnily enough we could got all three points for in the later stages but we were lucky Partick let us off with some slack finishing.
  4. Typical dismal Firhill performance so far. So sluggish all across the park and getting knocked off the ball so easily. Front three aren't at the races and if Moult wants to step up a level he's going to get a lot stronger. Partick have weak link keeper Scully in goals and we've not had a shot on goal.
  5. Dom Thomas has 102 minutes of football this season, the longest he's been on the pitch is 54 minutes. To put his game time into context Joe Chalmers has 589 minutes of league football so far this season. Dom Thomas has 785 minutes of league football over four seasons.
  6. We've failed to score in 5 out the last 6 matches at Firhill. Surely can at least score this time, Jags fans saying their defence has been pretty dodgy.
  7. When I was a kid I sat right behind the goals on the north terrace, next to the posts. There was plenty balls flying around there. We could watched the game from anywhere but we went there. Why? Because it was exhilarating to duck as the ball came flying at you. It was part of the excitement of the game. I don't think its a good idea for young children to be smacked in the face with a hard object but I also think the 'think of the children' argument is over played. Whether deliberate or not if you go to football there is a risk that you'll get hit with the ball. I really dislike this attitude where every element of risk is being stripped out the game. Its part of the appeal of going to football. The day football is a passionless, completely safe environment is the day nobody goes anymore.
  8. Well I was a goalkeeper and I've been hit in the face plenty times, including one notable time when a striker launched a thunderbolt past me, I turned expecting to retrieve the ball from the net just in time for it to hit the bar, come straight back out at a rate of knots, hit me square on the nose and put me flat on my back. So it clearly doesn't work, if that's your opinion.
  9. Moult gave that rarest of things, a 10 out of 10 performance. We'll all never forget yesterday.
  10. Atrocious record at Firhill and the last match there must rank as one of the worst football matches ever seen with human eyes but you know what, I'll still be there. Not only that but I think we can win! The madness of football.
  11. My opinion is that Dougie Imrie adds a lot of entertainment value to this fixture, he's welcome to blast the ball at me if he likes. Football is pantomime and because the game has been 'cleaned up' by twatty johnny come lately band wagon types that jumped on in the late 90's, there aren't enough 'baddies' in the game. No wonder no one turns up these days, they have made football as dull as it can be. Instead of decrying Imrie, I say an opposition player should do this every week. Gets the crowd going. Must be worth at least £3 worth of the admission. As for the paedo songs, you sing stuff like that you got to be able to take a bit back, instead of going off on one like a self righteous fanny.
  12. I said recently that the big weakness in our team was the wingers. Today Ainsworth was benched and Johnson gone and we were miles and miles better. Surprised to see criticism of McDonald and Bowman, McDonald was tremendous today, won lots of ball, interacted superbly with Cadden and played great balls between the centre half and the left back. Bowman did well too, linked well with Moult and won a lot of knock downs. And of course Moult had a ten out of ten performance. And Cadden, unlike Johnson, takes the ball to the byline. We just looked much, much more potent going forward.
  13. Excellent first half performance, utterly dominant....and yet Ali Crawford could easily have got a hat trick. Need to stay switched on 2nd half because Accies did come back into the game towards the end of the half.
  14. Hamilton are averaging about 1 goal conceded per game this season. We might score 4, because crazy things happen in football, but it would be highly out of the ordinary. In fact we have only scored more than once in 1 game and Accies have conceded more than once in two games so everything points to a 1-0 or 1-1 today.
  15. Wouldn't surprise me if we have some kind of deal with Lucas' agent and we are effectively getting him for no costs. Otherwise I don't see what he's doing there and why we keep going to him.

    Left Backs

I seem to remember him scoring against us for Aberdeen - which was the only time I saw him score!

McSkimming wasn't a bad player at all but his fee was excessive and he was made out of bone china.

    Left Backs

Well he's listed as wearing 4 in the official league records and there is no mention of squad numbers until the season after McMillan left, ie, 2001/02. For the record his squad number is 16 for 2001/02.
  19. Decent enough away point. A win next week and its not a bad start to the season.
  20. Would bite your hand off for a point right now. [Edit] As I say that Ross County go down to 10 men. [Edit 2] Iain Vigurs might just have fucked my coupon.
  21. Two injuries.... Moult coming on though so that's something.

    Left Backs

Looking back at the line ups I don't think the numbers are any guide. In McMillan's last season Hammell mostly wore the number 4 shirt. Looks like McMillan was mainly playing midfield latterly as the back four then would have been - Corrigan, Kemble, Strong, Hammell - with Ouefio filling in at right back or centre back. Hammell was more or less a fixture by that stage, played in 34 out of 38 matches. Typical XI would have been - Goram - Corrigan, Kemble, Strong, Hammell - Brannan, Leitch, McMillan - Spencer, McCulloch, Elliott. You could rearrange the shape to a 4-4-2 with, Spencer in attacking midfield or McMillan playing inside and Elliott wide.
  23. Did he commit a professional foul and get sent off?
  24. Fraser Kerr is at Stenhousemuir. Scored a 87th minute equaliser in the last league match and still managed to get sent off. Johnny Page is at East Fife and scores a decent number of goals for them. Ross Stewart, deputy to Darren Randolph for a while, is first choice at Albion Rovers, rather confusingly their main centre forward is also called Ross Stewart. Another former reserve goalie, Max Currie, is 1st choice at Stranraer. Jamie Ewing was at Dumbarton but has lost his place and I'm not entirely sure if he's still there or back up. Amazingly Darren Lee Smith isn't even 30 yet, regular scorer for Stirling Albion. Airdrie have a little ex Motherwell club going - Fitzpatrick, Iain Russell and now Jack Leitch. Can't remember if Morgyn Neil ever played a first team match for us, I think probably not, but he's been at Livingston for a couple of seasons.
