  1. I'm not panicking but the stall for the rest of the season is being laid out now and I don't want it to be at this end of the table. Especially as most teams seem to be putting points on the board. Unless we get our act together we could be detached down there with St.Mirren and Ross County and maybe Partick Thistle.
  2. St. Mirren only 3 points behind us now. No pressure.
  3. Our support are typical football supporters. When we pay our season ticket money, we do so to see a product that season; we aren't putting our money down to reminisce about times past.
  4. Depends what Celtic team turns up. However we've been outplayed by every team we've played this season so given our already poor record at Celtic Park it might be a good idea to close your eyes and stick your fingers in your ears.
  5. The team is going to go through a serious rebuild next season with the backbone of our team aging, players leaving who are out of contract and not in our plans and perhaps others leaving as well. If McCall is going to be our manager he has to commit to the club for the immediate future relatively soon. IMO, we can't go into the back end of this season with McCall's contract ending and uncertainty over who the manager will be.
  6. People will argue of course but in my opinion Terry Butcher was the next best manager we've had since Tommy McLean. Everything that has happened since has been built on Butcher's foundations, including the success of Stuart McCall. But the point I'm making is that although I held Butcher in high regard it was also obvious that his time at the club had come to an end the season before he left. Butcher, like McCall, was a limited manager but what he brought to the club worked very well for a period. However after a while, due to the limited nature of Butcher as a coach, a staleness crept in and when he left to go to Australia it was absolutely the right thing for the club. McCall has clearly done a very good job but on the evidence of what I've seen that staleness might be creeping in again. It's too early in the season to say for sure but I think by season 2015/16 it might not be the worst thing ever if McCall moved on and we brought in a new, fresh approach. His contract is up in summer 2015 so I think that is probably the most likely scenario.
  7. Last 9 seasons out of 10 he's either played Championship or Premiership level in England. Probably still more than good enough for us. The question is he the right sort of player to bring in since money is tight? We need a left sided midfielder/winger and that's Pearson's position. However he has serious injury problems last season. At 31 he's not that old, probably has a couple more seasons in the tank and has a wealth of experience, from Champions League to international football to the tough leagues down south.
  8. I don't think we will get thrashed but I can't see us winning and I can see us losing narrowly. Hope I'm wrong. I can't really afford to hit the bottle.
  9. The email looks like he's been testing the mulled wine.
  10. Ramsden didn't exactly cover himself in glory on Saturday but overall it will be good to see us getting back to something approaching a strongest XI. People keep going on about fitness and while it was a problem at the beginning of the season I think more recently we have lacked energy because there is a lack of confidence and players have their heads down. We need to dictate the play instead of being dictated to, we need a lucky break to get our confidence up again and we need stop making basic errors, our passing has been woeful across the board so far.
  11. Barry Ferguson is the manager at Clyde. They will know each other from Scotland squads.
  12. We finished 2nd bottom and bottom in those seasons. No point bringing through good youngsters if we are relegated and have to start a fire sale. We got lucky back then, we won't this time if the same thing happens. I've said before and I'll say it again, we should brought through young players when we were doing well in the league. Now confidence is down, our league position is poor, performances are bad and it's very difficult for young players to make an impact in a poor team. This idea that we can just throw young players into the situation we are in now is painfully naive.
  13. The last team to go five league matches without scoring was Dundee in 2012/13. They finished bottom and were relegated.
  14. Stay away fans are going to bury the club. Instead of sitting at home waiting for better times, they are going to be sitting at home with no club to support. Before yesterday we had lost 2 out of 14 home matches yet we are rapidly becoming a sub 4,000 attendance team.
  15. I don't see how the McManus injury played much part in the goal. He was shite all match for a start. Reid went to left back when Ramsden came on. The cross came from the left back position and then Ramsden's attempt to win the header was absolutely emabarassing for someone that makes a living as a defender. He loses headers like that just about every time, he's hopeless in the air. I didn't see ZFA signal to come off but even if he did surely we shouldn't have switched 50% of our defence to make one change with 9 minutes to go in a game we desperately needed a point from? Especially when you factor in the left wing changes we made throughout the match. Surely it's a basic that you make as few changes as possible to a back four? I know we have a lot of injuries and partially fit players but sometimes McCall really doesn't help himself. McCall substitutions lost us the match yesterday, no doubt about it.
  16. I thought the spine of the team was much better today. Twardzik did well, McManus is frustrating and some of his passing is shocking but O'Brien looked good. I thought Lasley and Lawson did OK in central midfielder, we certainly didn't get over run in there. Sutton looked more lively as well. However with no Vigurs, no wide left player of any note in the squad and Ojamaa and Ainsworth off the pace then we have very little creativity. We need these players to be on their game because otherwise we don't have the ability to fashion opportunities. Ojamaa needs to be switched to the left wing permanently. Law cannot play there and Ojamaa doesn't score many goals and shouldn't be taking up a front spot.
  17. McCall has been here all week for the last four weeks and it's amounted to 0 points. I don't know why people are kicking up a fuss about it.
  18. O'Brien breezed through the game.
  19. Amazing the difference a decent centre half made today.
  20. This. I am absolutely furious with that absolutely ridiculous substitution. It's cost us a point and a defeat. We weren't great today but we looked a lot more solid and although we never really looked like scoring neither did St. Johnstone. Then with a few minutes to go McCall swaps round 50% of a back four that's looked pretty solid all afternoon. It's an absolutely calamitous decision. Shocking. Absolutely fucking shocking. Seriously what the fuck was he even thinking about? An act of fucking sabotage on McCall's part. He has no one but himself to blame for that defeat tonight.
  21. Play him at centre half today!
  22. I think it's based on us blowing out our arse every match this season. I don't know what we did in Portugal but as I've already said constantly giving the ball away and chasing games doesn't help matters.
  23. Pretty much. I think it's unfair to single out individual players when we've hardly have a good performance even on an individual player basis, never mind as a team. The one thing about Sutton I would say is that he needs to stay on his feet. It's extremely frustrating to watch, especially when we aren't doing well.
  24. Your powers of premonition are quite extraordinary. Maybe you think they will be struggling at the wrong end of the table but that remains to be seen. Even when Accies were ACTUALLY struggling at the wrong end of the table we still managed to struggled against them. Factor in things like the artificial turf, our last calamitous visit to Douglas Park and us losing the last cup tie between the teams, then it's a draw with a lot of bad omens. We were a better team than them, right now they are a better team than us and that's unlikely to change before the tie is played.
  25. Terrible draw, almost the worst draw we could get IMO.
