A quick comment from Trust Chairman, David Crichton;
It was with humbling pride,and amongst fellow Well fans, that I was honoured to lead the ceremony for the unveiling of the Phil O'Donnell memorial on Saturday. Many people worked so hard to make this happen and it was good at last to see it come to fruition and also have the opportunity of thanking all those involved.
The most important thing to me however was that the memorial was liked by both Phil's wife,Eileen and his dad Bernard, along with other family members. I can say that having spent the day with Phil's dad and brothers, that this was certainly the case. They were so appreciative of the days events and that Motherwell fans had not forgotten Phil even after 4 years passing.
The Phil O'Donnell chant from the boys of the East Stand on 10mins into the match also was not lost on Phil's dad or brothers, whom I sat with during the game - well done guys!
Eileen and her children were heavily involved in the design of the piece, and having spoken with her since Saturday, she is also delighted with the memorial and the feedback from Saturday.
Whilst Saturday was a sombre occasion, it was also an opportunity for Well fans to remember and celebrate the brilliance of " Uncle Phil" and the joy and excitement he brought to Fir Park .

Motherwell Supporters Trust is delighted to announce that the unveiling of the fans’ memorial to Phil O’Donnell will take place at 1.30pm on Saturday (26 November) at Fir Park.
Along with invited guests from the O’Donnell family, players and staff from Motherwell FC and representatives from Dundee United, the Trust extends an open invitation to Motherwell fans to meet at the Chapman Building where a short ceremony will end with the lighting of the artwork on the North wall of the Phil O’Donnell stand.
The club captain passed away after leading Motherwell in a home game against Dundee United almost four years ago and it is fitting that they are the visitors to Fir Park this weekend.The football community came together united in shock and grief at the loss of a man in his prime.He was 35 years old and left behind a wife and four children.It was determined that a lasting memorial should be erected in his honour and to that end A Night for Phil was held in the Civic Centre and later a fundraising dinner took place.
The Gorbals Art Project was asked to design and manufacture a suitable piece that would become part of the fabric of the stadium.The process is now complete and it is hoped that this token of the fans’ remembrance of Uncle Phil will become a treasured part of the club’s history.

It's official - the Supporters Advisory Committee has finally shown what it's all about - discarding our mascots!
We were "shocked" and are in "awe" of this suggestion!!
Claret and Amber have been with us for years and are loved by many! Kids in particular love and associate with them, and can join the Claret &Amber Club! They add colour and friendly cheer to match days and have a commercially consistent visual marketing link to our Club - Now SAC would wish us to condone a "robo cop" style of mascot - what ill timed nonsense!
The more serious point though surely is their activity ( or lack of) focus? At a time when the Club are introducing a new ownership proposition; new legislation targets football fans, and our fan base have clearly expressed their views on what the match day experience should look like, it seems incredible this group are so far out of touch with fellow Well fans!
I can't remember the last time ( if at all) this group produced anything positive or relevant? And after a lengthy period of digesting their own fans survey - none of the responses having appeared to have been actioned- come out with this gem of a proposal!
The Supporters Trust in contrast continue to:
actively discuss and lobby the Club on their plans for the Well Society;
organise events to then donate funds to both Club and Community projects;
Will in the next week, conclude the erection of a permanent memorial to Phil O'Donnell;
are in active dialogue relating to new football fan legislation;
are in active dialogue with Club regarding the farcical situation created by visiting Celtic fans at recent home match;
Continue to raise the "real" issues raised by fans following our recent fan survey - including safe standing areas, food kiosk pricing and overall stadium facilities on match days.
Few have ever really understood why this Advisory Committee was established, given both the Supporters Association and ourselves , the Supporters Trust, have been here and working for many years. Even less, I feel now, will relate to this group and maybe its them that should be retired and not The Bears?!
It may not be a life threatening issue ( well maybe for Claret & Amber !) but let's make sure we KEEP CLARET & AMBER BEARS!!!
Email the Club ; give them a call ; answer the SAC thread established on the fans forum websites, and let them see they have missed the point and should listen firstly, and then act!

We are now just a week away from Stand Up for the Motherwell.
We'll be out and about around Fir Park on Saturday with tickets available at the entrance to the Cooper Suite.

Just a quick reminder that this event takes place this Thursday evening, you can join the Trust on the night or renew for the season at just a tenner. You'll also get half price entry to Stand Up for the Motherwell, a Supporters Pack, regular email updates and a host of other benefits. Remeber that under 16s can join us on the night absolutely free.
It's a great opportunity to find out more about McCall's plans for the rest of the season and next year's European campaign! The captain will also be there to answer your questions. You can still submit your questions to fansforum@mstonline.net until Wednesday evening but there will be plenty of time on the night once the roving mic is up and running.

Motherwell Supporters Trust invites fans to enjoy a night of comedy at Fir Park (no, seriously!) on Thursday 29th September. The Trust have engaged three top circuit comedians to 'Stand Up for the Motherwell'. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. The evening is open to all, but Trust members will benefit from half price entry at just £4.
This is a new venture for the Trust and a break from the usual football related activity.
The line up will include Glaswegian comic Bruce Morton, who has been on the comedy scene since 1988, when he won the first ever 'So You Think You're Funny?' new act competition at the Edinburgh Fringe. He was also one of the founders of the Funny Farm Comedy Collective in 1989, which helped start the stand-up scene in Scotland.
He was nominated for the Perrier award for his show 'Sun' and even landed his own four-part Channel 4 series, of the same name, each episode comprising a stand-up routine loosely themed around one of the deadly sins.
Phil Differ will also be there. He is a comedy writer, director and producer for stage, screen and radio. Chewin' the Fat, Watson's Wind Up and Only An Excuse? are amongst his many credits. He is also an occasional columnist, feature and travel writer. Phil made the move from behind the scenes to the full glare of stand up comedy four years ago and has been performing regularly throughout Scotland ever since.
Finally, there is the legend in his own liquid lunchtime, Bob 'The Gob' Doolally. One of the most original and unique character comedy acts on the UK stage and screen. A retired football manager and ex-player who now hacks out a living as an after-dinner speaker and third-rate media pundit, Bob has been lauded by both the public and the press alike.
Bob will recall his footballing career in all its gory detail; the endless celebs he played for and managed, the numerous fights and on-pitch debacles, the six marriages to small town beauty queens, Tennent's Lager Lovelies and C-list wannabes.

Last few years it has been £3 to get in or £5 to join this year its a Tenner. Not really worth it imo
The Annual General Meeting has always been a members only night, albeit this time we have the added incentive of the Fans Forum with the gaffer and the captain.
We've been working hard to improve what we offer to our members. We've introduced a Supporters Pack for all new members, started to produce a regular member's newsletter, improved the level of communication with members and continued to offer free or reduced entry to all events. We're working on some additional add ons for the rest of the season as well. All in all it's a pretty comprehensive package and towards the lower end of what other Trust's charge. Ultimately any excess funds that come into the Trust will go towards community projects, improvements to stadium facilities or youth development.
More than happy to discuss any ideas on what would make it worth the tenner.
On the turnout at the events, we have really upped our game on advertising over the past few months. For the 1991 Fans Forum; we handed out 2,000 flyers, had articles on the official site, stv local & the supporters sites and were featured in the Wishaw Press and Hamilton Advertiser. We'll be leafleting again on Sunday, have an article in the programme and are already all over the websites. I can only hope that people see these efforts and make the decision to come along.
If we are missing a trick on how to get the numbers up, we want to know.

As we head into the new season it is time for members to renew their Trust membership. In recent years we have added a number of new benefits to your membership, not least discounted admission to our events and the Supporters’ Welcome Pack. We continue to work on new and exciting initiatives for this season, full details will be revealed during Quarter 4 2011.
By renewing your Trust membership, you will also be supporting youth development and community projects as part of our Trust commitments. As our membership grows as does our influence over the issues that are important to you and other Motherwell fans. Last season, we successfully campaigned against the ten team SPL proposal and for more supporter involvement in the club.
We have sent all recent members a renewal pack through the post which includes an invitation to our Annual General Meeting & Fans Forums, renewal application, standing order mandate and our latest Trust newsletter. This edition features an interview with Stuart McCall, a preview of Stand Up for the Motherwell and an update from chairman Joe Smith. You will also notice some carefully placed reminders around Fir Park over the next few weeks.
Subscriptions for Season 2011/2012 costs just £10 and to make it easy there are now more ways than ever before to renew Your Trust membership. You can choose to renew online through the Trust website (www.mstonline.net) , just click on the ‘Join & Renew’ link. We’re happy to accept payments by cheque or a completed standing order mandate by post, simply complete the form enclosed within the renewal pack or download a copy from the Trust website (www.mstonline.net). Alternatively you can renew at the Annual General Meeting.

Motherwell Supporters Trust is delighted to announce a the return of its Fans Forum event for Season 2011/2012. We will be hosting this exclusive Trust members event at Fir Park's Centenary Suite on Thursday 1st September. This will be the first opportunity for Motherwell fans to quiz manager Stuart McCall and he will also be joined by club captain Stephen Craigan. The doors open at 7pm for what promises to be a lively and engaging night with the Annual General Meeting starting at 7.30pm. The bar will be open and a good night in the company of 'Well fans is guaranteed.
Our guests will discuss a mixture of pre-selected questions (email them to fansforum@mstonline.net) on the burning football topics of the day, followed by an open forum where the audience will be able to pose their own questions directly. Scottish Sun sports journalist and lifelong Motherwell fan Andy Devlin will return as our host for the evening.
The Fans Forum follows the Trust's Annual General Meeting, as a result, this will be a Trust members only event. As ever you will be able to renew your membership on the night or sign up for the first time. The Trust's membership fee for this season is just £10, while young 'Well fans under 16 can join the Trust for free. We continue to offer our members pack including a copy of An Evening with Tam Cowan DVD and Trust keyring but by joining you'll by adding your voice to the largest Motherwell supporter's organisation and supporting Motherwell's youth development.

There is plenty of information on what the Trust is all about and what it has done since 2002 over at our website (www.mstonline.net), click on 'About Us'.
We have became increasingly active as this season has went on, but only because we have been lucky enough to add a couple of people onto the Trust board. We want to continue that trend, but ultimately this will only happen if we can increase the number of people who are involved in the Trust. There's plenty to do from organising events and fundraising to finding out what our members and the support are thinking and communicating these views to the club, SPL, SFA etc.

Motherwell Supporters Trust are delighted to announce the return of their popular football tournament this June.
This tournament has become a regular fixture in the Motherwell support's calendar for a number of years. More importantly the event is eagerly awaited by enthusiastic players from all over Lanarkshire. No matter what your level of skill or the chances of your team winning, it is a great opportunity for Motherwell fans to meet up, enjoy the occasion and directly contribute to a cause that holds the club's best interests at its heart.
Preparations for our 2011 event are warming up nicely and we can now confirm that this will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 25th June. The tournament returns to the Fir Park's astroturf pitch with an anticipated kick off of 1.00pm. Once the main action of the day is over, players and supporters can move to the Davie Cooper Suite where we will have a full bar on offer
Squads of between six and eight players are now invited to enter the competition with the entry fee of just £35 per team. Your fee includes changing and shower facilities, referees, food at the final whistle and an afternoon of football action.
Interest is expected to be high and with a maximum of fifteen places up for grabs, entries can only be confirmed following payment of the entry fee. Ensure you and your team don't miss out by emailing your details to sixes@mstonline.net.

Motherwell fans oppose a ten team league. That is the clear conclusion that can be drawn from a survey of 300 fans carried out by Motherwell Supporters Trust in the weeks leading up to the cup final.
Supporters’ views are clear. They don’t want a ten team league and they don’t feel that they have been properly consulted about the proposed SPL reforms.
Trust chairman Joe Smith commented, “It is no surprise to see that the poll of Motherwell fans echoes the result that Supporters Direct conducted a few months ago. It is to be hoped that Motherwell’s representative reflects these views when the SPL board next meets to consider the Strategy Group’s plans.”

The Trust views with concern comments made by Motherwell vice-chairman Derek Weir in an interview carried on the BBC website.
His quotes suggest that the club might vote for a ten team league if some changes were to be made to the current set of proposals.
The Trust board opposes any move to a ten team league and believes that the overwhelming majority of Motherwell fans, in common with supporters all over Scotland, are of the same view.
To test again the opinion of Motherwell fans, the Trust will be seeking the views of those who attend the pre-cup final on Friday, May 20th, and have collected completed opinion forms from the 1991 panel night on Tuesday past.
The questions are available online and links have been posted on fans' websites. You can access the survey by clicking here.
The results will be published before the SPL clubs vote on the issue and the Trust hopes that the club will give supporters' opinions on the matter due weight before reaching a final decision on this crucial matter.

A great night of nostalgia was enjoyed by Motherwell fans as they listened intently to the thoughts and memories of Tommy McLean, Tom Boyd and Stevie Kirk at a Trust Fans' Forum in Fir Park.
Tam Cowan was the perfect host and he set a great tone for the evening, encouraging the audience and guests with his usual style.
For most of the fans present the 1991 final was the greatest day in their many years of support for Motherwell and they valued the chance to listen to the manager, winning goal scorer and captain from twenty years ago.
While much of the evening looked back to 18 May 1991, there was plenty of discussion about the forthcoming trip to Hampden and many tales of fellow players.
Stevie Kirk let it be known that he was raging that Phil O'Donnell didn't prevent Alan Main's last gasp long kick in the final minute of normal time, that his decision to leave Motherwell for Falkirk was the worst decision he ever made and that he loved to play against Celtic.
Tom Boyd's lasting memory of the '91 final was the terrible thought that the team had blown their chance when the late goal was conceded. His advice to the current squad is that they should "have a go at the Celtic defence" and he revealed that he had talks with Brian Clough but turned down a move to Nottingham Forest.
Tommy McLean talked of the overwhelming feeling of relief that came with the final whistle in 1991. He explained why he left after ten years in charge and that he turned down Aberdeen's approach that would have seen him step into Alex Ferguson's old job. He and Kirk exchanged quips all night long and he explained why he preferred Paterson over Philliben and Ferguson over the super sub when he made the decision on the morning of the final.
All three agreed that the SPL should be enlarged and that a return to a ten team league would stifle the development of our young players.
On behalf of the Trust, Philip Speedie thanked all concerned for making the evening a success and encouraged attendance at the next event – the pre-Final Party at South Dalziel Studios.

The Trust are pleased to announce that Jim Griffin, who was a member of the team that lifted the trophy in '91, will be in attendance at the party.
He will help with announcing the winner of the signed shirt, and will hopefully say a few words before proceedings begin.

The ever popular Motherwell Supporters Trust Quiz Night makes a welcome return in 2012. Friday 27th January is the key date for your diary as we take over Fir Park's Centenary Suite for what promises to a memorable evening in the company of fellow 'Well fans.
As ever we'll have rounds covering off the best in sport, music and television together with a few questions on the Mighty 'Well. Keith Brown has produced a number of flyer rounds where winners will stand to bag a spot prize. Dougie Arnott will be on hand to offer you a drink from the 'Well stocked bar from 7.30pm.
Trust Chairman David Crichton said, "The Trust has organised many Quiz Nights over the years and they always provide a great attraction for Motherwell supporters who bring along friends and family for an enjoyable evening. We are indebted to Keith Brown once again for acting as quizmaster and look forward to his teasers."
