Budgets not attitudes are the thing. Budgets are exactly why the OF have been winning the league for decades. Exactly why only a handful of teams can win the CL. You can't tell me approaching 40 years of league domination by two teams is down to an attitude.
We're never going to compete with them over a season, but come on ffs, our individual performances against them are unacceptable. Other clubs are able to beat them regularly yet we see the same gutless performance against them that we've seen for the last twenty years. As I said, we are beat before a ball is kicked and we have the ready made excuse of they have a bigger budget ready made before hand.

For me it's the opposite. That we are sitting on 2 points after 5 games and actually played fairly well, from the back to the middle, is conceg because that tells me that this is the best this team can serve up and yet we find ourselves winless because our attacking options, and we have several of them, just aren't good enough. I don't see how things will improve because we just don't have the quality to create and take goalscoring chances. I don't have much faith in Robinson and our scouting team to source a decent, goalscoring forward either, they seem incapable of it! And when, not if, Turnbull leaves in the new couple of months we are going to be in serious trouble, because he is our only attacking quality from the middle.
And also a side point. You and others refer to 'the cup success of prior seasons. Firstly, we have had NO cup success. We lost two cup finals in 17/18 where we didn't lay a glove on Celtic. Sure the League Cup run was impressive, but the Scottish Cup run of that season was actually the flukiest I've ever seen. Own goals against Accies and Dundee, Hearts goalkeeper chucks us one, they play usnoff the park before McHugh pulls a stunner from nowhere, then Aberdeen turn in what must have been their worst defensive performance in decades in the semi. I enjoyed it at the time but don't kid yourself, it was a very, very lucky Cup run.

This will naturally be one that will interest him and you wouldn't begrudge him the opportunity to manage his country.
It'd be interesting to see if he would look to take Lasley with him as his no.2? It's safe to assume that Lasley will be his replacement in the managers office but I wouldn't be surprised if he doubled up and continued to work with Robinson should he land the NI job.

No we didn't. According to soccerbass we beat them on penalties after a 1-1 draw. We eventually went out to Aberdeen in the Quarter Finals.

Correct. I only wish more of our fans thought along those lines instead of trying to excuse performances like yesterday's second half with "Rangers budget is bigger than ours".
The difference in budget didn't cause our team and manager to approach the second half with the sole tactic of trying to hang on for a point.
The difference in budget didn't cause us to drop deeper and deeper til we were defending on our own 18 yard line.
And the difference in budget didn't cause us to concede a goal due to our goalkeeper making a howler and then concede another soft one from a cross later in the game.
I'm fed up with the attitude from some of our fans that says we basically have no chance of beating them because of their budget. That as I said is a cop out and you're just basically lying to yourself in order to give yourself some consolation.

The reality is that Kilmarnock and everybody else do exactly what Motherwell do and simply get luckier. They park the bus then manage to survive a virtual siege to grab something on the break and Motherwell just haven't been so lucky.
Hibs hammered 6-1. Hamilton 5-0 and Aberdeen 5-0 yet somehow Motherwell should be beating them. Do you grasp that even Celtic went there and sat off them but had the quality to catch them on the break? We have done this for nearly twenty years against rangers and that's why we haven't beaten them in a league match in that time. If you don't want to use Aberdeen as an example given their historical success (which is irrelevant to this discussion btw) fine, remove from from the equation. In the same timescale I am referring to, Kilmarnock, Accies, St.Johnstone, Dundee Utd, Hibs, Hearts, Inverness have all went to Ibrox and picked up three points and some on more than one occasion. We haven't even mustered a home league win against them in that time FFS!
Don't give me this nonsense about luck. You are not telling me it's just down to pure bad luck on our part that we fold every time we play Rangers when other clubs of a similar standing to us are able to beat them. I don't expect us to go to Ibrox and won every time, but you'd think we'd manage it now and again but we don't.
We have not won at Ibrox in the league since the 1990s, that is a truly awful stat.

As far as I am aware and happy to be corrected, we have not beaten Rangers since 2002 ish in the league? Yet other sides have no problem beating them. Kilmarnock beat them twice last season and didn't lose a league match to them, Aberdeen beat them three times, Hamilton Accies went to Ibrox and won a couple of years ago, as have Saint Johnstone.
Granted over the course of a season these teams won't win the league but how come sides like these manage to beat Rangers/take points off them on occasion, but we NEVER do, with the exception of the odd draw here and there.
We shit the bed against them just about every time, especially at Ibrox and then give ourselves pats on the back for a brave display against a team that's budget is bigger than ours whilst other sides are going there and taking points from them. Are you getting that?

Sloth looked good when he came on, he showed some class on the ball and upped the pace a few times. I thought Polworth was poor, it was another game where he basically had to drop back to the defence to get on the ball. Semple looked promising, nice passing and played with his head up, the ball through for our second goal was just about the only decent bit of play in the first half.
Our tactics weren't up to much. Two wingers who we struggled to get on the ball and when they managed to get it we had absolutely nothing in the box for them to aim at. Illic looks like he has something but i'm not sure what we are going to get out of playing him on the right hand side.
Do you actually get any pleasure from watching us? Jeezo.

The first half of the home Steaua game we did play some decent football and also in the 0-0 game against 'Them' at Fir Park we looked like a good side but apart from that we were awful to watch and it got worse towards the end of his tenure when he had basically chucked it and was working his ticket out the club. Gannon's use of substitutes was crazy and contributed hugely to us dropping so many points from winning positions.

I was right in line with that and could see clearly in real time that it wasn't offside. Absolute cheating at its very worst. We should have won both home games against Them that season, we drew the first one 0-0 and played some really good football before Jim O'Brien missed a late penalty.

There was the same excitement at Forbes and Slane breaking through then as there was for Turnbull and Hastie last season. Both of them looked the part in that Europa run. Sadly, like Gannon, they were soon found out.

I don't think it's just down to robinson tho. I think our problems run alot deeper than the manager.
