  1. Just checked out a few things there age-wise, and Jonathan Page, Shaun Hutchinson, Steven Meechan, Jordan Halsman and Gary Smith are all older than Gavin Gunning.

Rather than lacking anything, I think for Gunning to be at the standard he is right now, we should be throwing high class hookers through his bedroom window to encourage him to sign with us!!

    What happened to Rosie Alan????

  2. Fair play to him. Is it substantially better.

Wish him all the best from us RR, a lot of folk hoping he would have stayed on and nobody can complain that he moved. You still going to post on here??

It was a much better deal all round, and it was not an easy decision for Marc,as he said Motherwell has been a big part of his life for a long time and he was sad at how his time at the club ended!

I might still post as i wont get dogs abuse for being biased.....was i ever biased!!! :(

  3. your son's probably been paid more in the last 12 months than 90% of the people on this board and all he's done is play 70 minutes of fitba. his job exists because we're passionate about our team and we use this website to talk about every aspect of it, if that upsets you don't come on.

marc fitzpatrick has made a relative fortune via the contracts mfc have given him. that's money that comes straight from the pockets of posters on here via season tickets, merchandise and license fees and tv subscpritions. posters have every right to question whether he's worth a new contract or not.

    I was not upset.

Where did i say that posters don't have a right to question whether he gets a contract or not!! It was a lighthearted story from the dressing room that was all. This is why i stopped reading or posting on these boards.

In most employments if you are ill you will be paid, however if it makes you feel better he has been earning his money in other ways at the club by doing charity events etc so he is not being paid just for the 70 mins of football!!!!

  4. This made me laugh when I read it because it reminded me of the time when the senior players said to the gaffer at the team talks in the dressing room that they should play Fizzy because they never lost when he was playing!!

  5. Ah, gotcha. Heard he had signed a new 'short term' contract on the radio the other week but nothing has been mentioned on the official site or even on here. Any truth to it? Saw him shopping in Asda Hamilton last week but he was with partner and child so not the time to chat  Good to see him fully recovered from injury before the end of the season though. Thought he might have got a run out at Ibrox.

You should have spoken to him in asda he wouldn't have minded! Don't think the gaffer thought he was match fit but would maybe have given him a run out if the games hadn't been as important to us and if the scores had been better with 20mins or so to go.

As for the contract situation ...that's not for me to say!!

  6. Do you feel it is time for him to move on and seek a new challenge?

No because he is happy at Motherwell....I was being sarcastic because he was being slated and he hasn't played most of the season due to injury!!!...suppose some things will never change. :D

  7. His phylosophy was to make a name for himself and in orderto do so he USED the youngsters until such times that they were not doing as well and then he used the experienced players.....not good for youngsters confidence building them up then knocking them right back down again without a thought or explaination for them!!

  8. Gannon had a lot of issues with all of the first team players at the club and had to resort to playing the youngsters when he froze them out. He also had issues with the spl and scottish football and players and not just Marc, however he has moved on now and so have we.

  9. I haven't posted on the board for a long time and i must say i was pleasantly surprised at some of the comments made about Marc, some attitudes seem to have changed.

Marc did in fact pull a hamstring on saturday and will be out for 4-6 weeks and there is no one more gutted than him. He has worked hard during the Gannon spell to keep his fitness up even although he knew he had no chance under him.

Love Marc or hate him he has always acted as the total professional on and off the park and although he may at time give the ball away, like countless others,he always gives 100% on the park and never hides as has been suggested.

Marc has played over 150 games for Motherwell in the spl,he has played in Europe and represented Scotland at under 19 and under 21 level,he has worked under a variety of managers who have all thought he was an asset to the team, except for Gannon though,

that was more to do with the fact he was a regular Scottish spl player who had the cheek to question some decisions, rather than his ability!, so there is more to him than "that goal"

He deserves his place in the team and i hope he gets his chance again because he is totally commited to Motherwell so maybe if the doubters and haters of Marc give him some encouragement we may get to see the best of him in the future.

  10. I think young Forbes and Slane wwere the shining lights last Thursday and i think they will make their mark on our team, it just worries me that they won't find it as easy when they are playing against an spl team, they certainly won't get as much time on the ball and may not appear to be such shining lights and as we all know our fans can be harsh.

I just hope that they are given time to get used to playing first team football and any errors along the way are forgiven both by the manager and the fans.

  11. Yeah, ok, fair point there but I would still like to see us with a big enough squad that we dont have to resort to playing folk out of position, like Lasley at right back or whatever

Fitzy didn't play because he has had a problem with a groin injury..... my worry about playing the youngsters is the reaction if they don't do well and get bullied of the ball, playing in the spl is much more physical than the english leagues, you don't get the same time on the ball in the spl. I thinknGannon will be surprised at the physicality of the spl, he will find out that its not possible for players to stay in position as easily as it is in the english leagues.

    imo mind!!
